Okay, this is bad. I don't remember coming here to post last night. Ooops! LOL!!!! Guess I really did have a good time at the fundraiser last night.

Thanks!

:rotfl: Alrighty then....:rotfl:

Scary, isn't it. I'm praying more and more. But, remember how we were constantly told everyone would like the US if BO was elected? hmm...

Shucks, I missed church today because I have a fever and DH said they would not appeciate me sharing that with the congregation...

I'm sorry you're sick. Get to feeling better soon,ok? :goodvibes

Interesting question. I just checked with Mr. M on his opinion and it made sense. Democrat and republican are a party to be affiliated with. Conservative and liberal are a philosophy as to how the constitution is interpreted.

A con interprets it conservatively, it means what it says and it says what it means. A liberal interprets it with a liberal interpretation, meaning there is 'give' in the document, open to opinion and change depending on whatever is going on at the time.

Interesting.:thumbsup2

I think that sounds about right.

Go hockeymom! You can do it. :thumbsup2 If you smoke, I'll come up there and shoot slap shots at you! :lmao:

I'm definintely a conservative first and a Republican second. I really like the really conservative candidates...

Dr. Laura rocks! If you have a chance to go see her, I would. She's amazing! She's so funny, so full of wisdom and the way she gives it to you is so cool. I highly recommned her. Her son is soooooooooo cute!

I think she's great too. She tells it like it is.......major reality check show. Love it.

I don't know anything about the Conservative party, I didn't realize they had an actual party. I'm out the door right now, but I have homework to do when I return. We're out the the RP, and looking for something that fits our own beliefs.

I don't know much either. I found this........evidentally it's only in NY state? Ironic, don't ya think?

Conservative Party (United States), in the United States, political party in New York State, formed in 1962, and espousing a conservative philosophy. Although numerous candidates throughout the nation seek office as conservatives, the Conservative Party of New York State is the only party legally constituted as such in America. The party stresses firm belief in the American tradition of individual initiative and liberty. The growth of the liberal wing of the Republican Party in New York distressed conservative Republicans in the state and led to formation of the Conservative Party as a more distinct alternative to liberalism.

The party is active primarily in the local politics of New York City, but had a membership in the state of about 120,000 in the mid-1980s. The New York Conservative Party achieved its only significant statewide victory in 1970, when its candidate, James L. Buckley, running against Democratic and Republican opponents, won election to the U.S. Senate with a plurality of less than 40 percent of the total votes cast. Since 1976, when Buckley lost a reelection bid, none of the party's candidates has won major elective office solely on the Conservative line.

Based on some of the posts I've seen on DIS and another Poltical Board I frequent..... I post this video to put it all in perspective.
Keep the flag flying....:thumbsup2

Thank you for that. I just forwarded that to about twenty people. It made me cry........ofcourse, I cry at anything patriotic. And I love MWS. That song makes ya want to kiss a vet, doesn't it? :lovestruc

I have a question for all of you

Are you a Republican first, conservative second or

Conservative first, Republican second?

Definitely conservative first.

Speaking of that, have you all seen the "RIP Religious Right" thread? :sad2:

On an unrelated topic, I opened my Sunday Detroit Free Press (oh, how I wish the Detroit News still published on Sundays so we didn't have to read the liberal tripe) and of course every article on the front page was about BO. Not surprising. What I did find surprising (annoying, etc.) was that included in my newspaper was a "commemorative Obama poster".

Do you think if McCain had won, I'd have a "commemorative McCain poster" in my paper this morning? :rolleyes1

Oh -- from another thread

Just like the PUMA's, Obama ought to right them off. He didn't get there with the right/PUMA's and he isn't going to accomplish anything with them either..

Seems like the PTS have no interest in uniting the country. Figures. At least one of them had the guts to admit it. Maybe they should IM Oprah. Oh -- it's write them off -- not right them off. HAHA. But I really think that this poster should have put Wright them off -- that is actually most appropriate.
Say it ain't so, Joe! Yeah, like any of us actually thought they cared anything about the rest of us.
And I'm actually kind of surprised they're lumping HRC supporters in with the right.

I'm a Conservative first.

I've never believed the dems wanted peace and unity. It's all about in your face and shove it down your throat. They are tickled pink that our national security is going to be a thing of the past. The dems USED to be about protecting our freedoms...now they want to take them away. Government control....cradle to grave. They love that stuff.

My step dad was a dem until he was 70 years old. GWB turned him around. Goes to show....you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.!!

Don't listen to AP. No David Cassidy. :lmao:
Actually, if you put David Cassidy, you have to post NKOTB if we're posting old stuff.

ok, who is NKOTB?

Definitely conservative first.

No, but maybe they would like this from the San Fran Chronicle.......;)

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/09/17/INGEJL45D11.DTL

I love this part:

Take a randomly selected sample of 100 liberal adults and 100 conservative adults. According to an analysis of the 2004 General Social Survey -- a bible of data for social scientists -- the liberals would have had 147 kids, while the conservatives would have had 208. That's a fertility gap of 41 percent. Even adjusting for other variables like age and income, there is a gap of 19 percent.

Now superimpose this on a map of the United States. The highest fertility rate is found in the most Republican state, Utah, home to the Mormon Church. The lowest fertility belongs to Vermont, a state liberal enough to be the first to sanction gay unions.

and.....

Thus Democrats will breed Democrats, and Republicans will breed Republicans -- the blue states reddening every day.

oh, but this part is priceless:

Religion is another factor. Some of the most ardent conservatives are religious fundamentalists who believe they have been bidden by God to go forth and multiply. These conservatives, now overwhelmingly Republican, see large families as blessings, abortion as sacrilege, birth control as potentially sinful. Indeed people who attend church weekly are twice as likely as those who seldom attend to say their ideal family size is three or more children. (This "relentlessly pro-natal" orientation, Longman contended in a recent issue of the journal Foreign Policy, threatens a not-too-distant future in which zealous Christians and radical Muslims inherit the Earth and usher in "new Dark Ages").

:rotfl: Yeah, nevermind about Guttenburg and movable type and the first thing they printed was the Bible.......more people learned to read because they wanted to read the Bible.......missionaries teaching people to read.......so wherever christian missionaries go, the level of education of the people go up.........yeah, let's skip that part. Bbbwwwwaaaaaaa! :rotfl:

Did you save it to use as training paper should you get a new puppy?;)

I'm def a conservative first!:thumbsup2

Okay, okay. I'd just shred it then and use it for packing material.:)

Or, how about rolled up to use as kindling for the woodstove, unless it has that waxy coating on it. Hmmm, maybe as a liner under the cookie racks to catch the crumbs?

When I answered the question I thought first as in ... when you first decided on a political affiliation. Going by today, I am Con first and Rep second.

luvseeyore>> I threw that in the garbage right away! Didn't even take a good look at it!

It's official. The trip is cancelled. I feel like crying. :( Good thing the kids didn't know about it or they'd be heartbroken. It was such a good deal too, but we need to be responsible. Maybe we can go next year. I'll have to make a plan to pay off some debt and save $$ - (DUH!) :)

Piper Palin is absolutely adorable! Darn that kid is cute.

Now why did you go waste a perfectly good, multi-use piece of paper. You could have used it under the drip can on the bar-b-que so you don't get grease on your new deck, you could have shredded it and used it as mulch so your outdoor plants don't freeze, why there are a myriad of uses for it. tsk, tsk.:rotfl2:

It would have added to the indoor air pollution!

If you can't go to WDW.....bring Disney to you. Look online...find your favorite Dis recipes. Have a Dis movie night. Start saving/planning for your next trip. We book our trips, as much as, 11 months out. I pay for things...a little at a time. All we need when our vacation rolls around....souvenir money.

Be sad, have a good cry...then get back up and look forward.

I'm sorry, MM. At least it isn't like the old days when we used to say in the winter, "The last one out turn off the light." as we all went down to Florida. You're with friends up here who are stuck with no vacation or are afraid to take one.:grouphug:

I forgot to answer this. I don't remember who asked (and I'm not gonna go back and look) but NKOTB stands for New Kids on the Block.

I don't know if I'm revealing my age or my (former) bad taste in music. :lmao:

Now just for a new puppy. What if you have a bird?

So many creative ideas for recycling my unwanted paper!! :lmao: Actually, I didn't even look at it either. I pulled out the ads and tossed the rest in the trash. ;)

I'm sorry -- I know how much it stinks to have to cancel a trip. We had to do that a few years ago when we feared dh might be downsized (which ended up happening). I hope you're able to get back even sooner than you're expecting! :goodvibes
