I'm not necessarily thinking a candidate, I'm mainly thinking about a campaign. Again, I don't want to say what I think because it's based on my interpretation of the situation and not hard facts. I didn't appreciate Mitt getting trashed for no reason, so I don't want to say what I think, needlessly accusing an innocent group, and then be wrong.

I will say my suspicions are based on stuff that happened earlier this year. Romney is a Mormon, as most people know. Well, there were anti-Mormon robo calls put out in Iowa to try to destroy him amongst Christians. I have no clue for sure who was behind those calls to this day. But I do know that there were certain people from another campaign who ran around saying Romney himself was the one putting negative ads out about Mormonism to head-fake people into believing an opponent was doing it. :lmao: Now, does that logically make any sense? Does anyone believe the average politician or campaign as a whole is clever and quiet enough to pull something like that off, all the while knowing it could very well backfire?

I personally have no doubt the trash itself is coming from McCain's people. Typical RINO behavior, stab the conservative in the back. But I think there is another faction supporting the nonsense, pushing it along, and blaming it on Mitt. Whether their candidate is involved or not, I am skeptical. But I am highly suspicious of this person's advisors and staff.

ohhhhhhhh.......maybe the "no on prop 8" campaigners?

edit: as usual perhaps i went down the wrong path, but it would knock out two conservative hopefuls, and the mormons did put an awful lot of money into the campaign.

k...i give up...can you tell us? in super secret squirrel code or something?

Did y'all hear that, once again, Campbell Brown was defending her?!??! Saying that CNN had investigated these claims and found them to be patently false. Go Campbell! But what's up with CNN actually investigation something?!?!!?

To bad that they didn't investigate a certain Presidential candidate before the election....:rolleyes1

Welcome BarbO1999, and anybody else I may have missed coming in. :)

Hey guys...I hardly visit the DIS these days...but wanted to pop in and say hi to my conservative friends. I'm feeling your pain guys. 1/20/13 will be the end of an ERROR.

We've missed you! Try not to be too much of a stranger. :)

I'm thinking Huckabee, but I disagree.

he was my initial guess though -- but I just can't see him doing it. :confused3

'm thinking no to Huckabee.. what about Rudy?

Btw, please send happy thoughts my way. In the middle of unemployment I decided that I need to once and for all quit smoking. Mind you, if I was working, I'd be smoking almost nothing because I didnt on the way to work, or at work. Now, I'm smoking way too much.

I quit at 1:00 today on the way to hockey.

(yeah, I know I don't fit the profile... blame DH!) (Then again, DH quit two years ago!)

Tons of prayers coming to you. Hockeymom - please quit -- your family needs you much to much. I smoked in college but quit cold turkey many many many years ago. My DH smoked and had unsuccessfully tried to quit for 6 years. One day this August, I received the phone call from my sister than my Dad had lung cancer. By the time, he was diagnosed it had spread to his liver and his brain. Yesterday, they moved my dad to long term hospice and the doctor told my sister to start making funeral arrangements. On that same day in August, my DH's sister called him. His grandmother was diagnosed with dementia and has to be placed in a nursing home. Her doctor said it was a combination of smoking and diabetes. My husband quit smoking that day. Cold turkey. Please, I am praying for you, quit- - too many people love you.

*waving to Transparant!*
I quit just under 23 years ago, and 15 years ago. Also about ten years ago for a month. Right now I'm killiing a bag of fritos and considering making those cookies from a cake mix.

ITA, AP -- Yay - Hockeymom - good for you. A man at church whom I deeply respect and admire quit smoking 40-50 years ago. He still says it was the hardest thing he's ever done. When you want to light up, chat with us - we're always good for a nicotine high!

And AP -- I am soooooo sorry about your dad -- what a horrible week/month you have had on so many levels. I will pray for you, your family -- I am sooo sorry....

Oooh, a riddle! I love riddles! Anyone have a guess?

You go, girl! :cool1: Hang in there because I know it's tough as all get out to quit. I quit at 10:41pm January 18, 1993. I did it cold turkey, and I swear it was the toughest thing I ever did but it was also one of the smartest. I was riding down the interstate, fuming over an argument I'd just had with my girlfriend. I just rolled the window down and littered a nearly full pack all over the road.

Any time you're wanting a smoke, come in here and there will probably be somebody to distract you with kind words or a silly picture...

AP - Prayers said for you and your family. Please let me know if you need to talk. I was in the same situation in January with my dad. The last days are the hardest especially when you live far away.

#1 - You can do it!:cheer2:

Say it ain't so. You really think so?

Hard to say. :confused3 Newt is one smart cookie. He's probbaly our one guy who could match H when it comes to smooth moves and a lust for power. I've had him on my mind this week as I think toward 2012. In many ways I think he might be the guy we need, but we'd better be ready to hold our noses.

ETA: Bob Novak has a column this weekend about Newt in '12

Good for you #1hockeymom!:yay:

We're all :cheer2: for your success.

Phew! I've been gone all day. Oldest DD had ballet rehearsal for the Nutcracker, youngest DD had choir rehearsal for the Christmas concert, and youngest DS had play practice for the church Christmas play. Of course, they were in three different places, all at the same time. That was fun...:drive:

Anyway, trying to catch up with the posts...

As much as I love her, I think you might be right. Like I said before, I think after the govenorship she should run for senate. We need her in Washington and in some ways, you have more power as a congressman than pres. And she has shown she is electable in Alaska. They love her. So it's an easy way to get her in.

Maybe...maybe not. Who knows what will be happening then. I think it is just too early to tell. Let her get back to work as Governor, and see what happens from there.

Hey, I've been meaning to ask, anyone on here a TourguideMike planner?

We've used him for our last two trips and will use him again when we go in April.

Just wondering.

We've used Tourguide Mike every trip. I really like his advice. :)

Ha! Are you kidding? Everything bad that happens for the next 10 years is going to be Bush's fault in their eyes. Obama already said in his speech that it will take him more than one term to fix it all.

Yeah, I've been hearing that...repeatedly...from him. :sad2:

This happened in 1994 - the pendulum swang back to the right in the mid-terms.

Again, a lot could happen in 2 and 4 years. Could SP be viable? I don't know but apparently the libs and certain moderate factions of the Repubs think so. I'd like to think we're causing enough stink now about these foolish claims so that her not coming back in the national spotlight won't be because of leftover baggage.

There is a reason they are going after her so hard right now. They are afraid of her.

That is exactly my thoughts also and I have mentioned it before. Get her into the House or Senate and let her presence known across the country. I seriously feel its too soon for her as POTUS. I am so excited that she is a young face in our party and that gives us so much hope for the Republican Party. :woohoo:

Again, who knows what will happen in the next 4 years. I think it is just too early to say.

My thoughts on Palin are that she should continue as Govenor, and then be put in a high level position in the next Republican administration. From there it can be determined if she would make a good candidate.

Let's just wait and see...

We need a house cleaning from top to bottom. It is past time to take out the garbage. We have got to get back to the party of fiscal responsibility. When we're representing that, we win more often than not. What I find pathetically funny about all of this is the Republicans got kicked out of power for acting like typical Democrats, i.e. wasteful, out of control spending. Moving further to the left (how can you get much further to the left in the GOP than McCain?!!!) will ensure more rear end kicking in 2010.

I agree...:thumbsup2

SM -- I agree. Although I truly like and admire Sarah Palin, I think the MSM and creeps like Tina Fey and the like so tarnished her reputation that I don't think she is a viable candidate in 2012. People, especially PTS, do not listen to the truth -they listen to the smear that is being spread - and the smear is what they will remember. She needs to be part of a a R administration, but not part of the ticket.

I don't know if she'll be viable or not in 2012. I don't know now what the political, national and international climate will be like then.

I do know that I'm getting tired of the MSM saying that she isn't a good choice. They smear her, and tell us that because she is 'tarnished,' she isn't a good candidate anymore. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting angry and feeling like a kid that keeps getting kicked around by a bully, and just expected to sit there and take it. If we, as Republicans, feel that we want a particular candidate, whoever that it, then we should. I think we have a lot of up-and-coming stars in the Republican party (not just Paliin) but I think it is premature to just automatically count her out already. Just my .02 cents...:)

I think it's way too early to decide who the most viable candidate for 2012 will be. As far as Palin being tarnished....nah....people have a short attention span and memory. It's what she does between now and then that really matters. MHO She'll be a little tougher and seasoned. It will totally depend on the climate....in other words...how bad BO and his cronies mess things up.

Yep, totally agree. She is pretty darn tough. Let's just see how things play out.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? ;)

LOL! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

I'm thinking no to Huckabee.

Me too. I think it's kind of all speculative at this point. Hopefully they'll continue to call out the real ones behind it.

In the middle of unemployment I decided that I need to once and for all quit smoking. Mind you, if I was working, I'd be smoking almost nothing because I didnt on the way to work, or at work. Now, I'm smoking way too much.

I quit at 1:00 today on the way to hockey.

I'm praying for you...that is really great that you quit. I will pray for you everyday.
