Jesus loves me this I know, for the bible tells me so...

Okay, you have all given me the same views that all Christians (I choose to call them hypocrites) have given me. I have only posted on this thread, I think 3 times. I am relatively new to this. I have only looked at this and the thread before this. I did not mean to hurt anyones feelings. I was just trying to give my views on this. And I have been attacked on this board and on private messages. Kinda like a high school clique. I give up. This proves that the conservative right-wing of the Republican is a party of intolerance. I pity all of you. Someday you will be judged by the big guy. And it will not be pretty. Your hatred speaks volumns from a women that was trying to reach out for understanding and got made to feel like an outsider from the most of you. Have a nice evening:confused3

You said things about us that weren't true and refuted them, so that makes us intolerant? Hello, you're judging us.

Did I miss something?? There are long running religious threads on the DIS and I have not participated in those. The people who hang out on this thread have a broad range of opinions on everything from the war, to abortion, to civil rights issues, etc. I'm not sure if you are honing in on certain posts/posters, but I feel like you are painting with a really broad brush in your generalizations of who conservatives represent. I realize that the far Christian right has had a loud voice, but do you think that you're alone in not supporting all of their issues??

I was not trying to attack anyone. I was just trying to state my own opinion. I was raised in a very religious family in which hate and racism was very much a part of. It took me many years to realize that what I was taught was filled with hate. I have only looked at the threads since Obama was elected. I am not privy to anything before this. I do not care to look back any further because I was trying to state an opinion that the reason all Republicans religiously or conservatively speaking lost is because they are thought of by the younger generation as an intolerant group.

My son is currently enrolled in a Catholic university. Most of the students are Obama supporters. He has been chastised for his support of McCain and Palin. My son was very against religion before attending this college. He was under the impression that most religions were hateful. To our family's dismay despite attending church, he felt that religion was full of hate. The Catholic university has made him understand that religion can be tolerant despite much hate. He was agnostic before attending this university. He has opened his heart to Jesus. But he and my whole family believe that being gay is not a choice. We believe that you are born gay. You do not chose this. DNA on my husband's side of the family proves this. Both of his brothers are gay.

I know that this is controversial but this is the way that we all believe. You can flame us all you want to but why would someone chose to be in the minority? Seriously, we are asking for support from Republicans but so far we have not got any support.Funny thing is, that the Dems are much more supportive. As a family we do not support Obama's views. All I am saying is that you all better wake up, and realize that the country has changed. I am truly sorry if I hurt anyone by my views. I did not mean to hurt anyone. But I am in tears as I write this as all of you have made me feel as if I am wromg to support my son.

I think maybe you've only read a few posts, there are five giant threads we've gone through, and are jumping to conclusions, much like you did on the Sarah hates animals, thread.

No ma'am, you are dealing with pain caused by somebody else and projecting your anxiety on us. I have been following the conservative thread for several months, and I don't recall ANY discussions about gay issues except for one poster, who I believe had some sort of falling out with a family member, but it was NOT because she didn't support and love her. You don't actually know how any of us feel about gay issues unless you are referring to other threads that some from here may have posted on. So to come on this thread specifically and chastise us as a group with such assumptions is misdirecting your feelings. There are no rules here that people must be religious in order to be a conservative, but those who are should not be made to feel ashamed. It's amazing that you can point to examples in your own family of people who are religious and tolerant, yet you are being judgmental and intolerant of people who you have no clear knowledge of their stance on issues.

My brothers in law are gay and they are Republican. If you make generalized statements, paint a whole party with a very broad brush, come onto this thread and tell us what we are and that we have a problem with accepting people, we're likely to get a bit miffed.

I don't care if your son or my son or anybody else's son is gay. I don't believe that it's a choice either. Just don't come here and say we have a problem with gay people and that we make you feel wrong supporting your son. It looks more like you aren't comfortable with your son's choice and you're looking for somewhere to vent. Did he just come out? It seems to be a very sensitive subject.

anybody giving out flowers anymore????:flower3:

anyhoo....i was on another site:ssst: and found this fantabulous notice of a discount at the swan and dolphin for certain dates in december. thought i'd pass it along, 'cause these particular resort hotels are usually pretty pricey and they're quite nicely located near epcot.

edit: AND SO....if you'd like that link, please send a pm and i'll provide it for you.

thanks rie'smom!

SarasotaMom, did you see the title of this thread? I would say for your particular situation you might want to search a different thread or start a different one?

sarasotamom

Peace?

I will try to explain someone like myself. Take my Fill-in-the-blank. He is gay. I love him to death. He knows I love him. I do not tell him he is going to go to hell because he is a sinner because I have no idea where he is going to. That is between him and God.

And while we are talking about sin, I sin every day. I am a sinner. My Fill-in-the-blank is a sinner. Heck, even Obama, The Chosen One, is a sinner!

So to embrace someone who is gay is what exactly? Does it mean that I need to tell someone who is gay that I think what they are doing is great? Nope. Ain't gonna happen. Does it mean I am willing to listen about their love life? Nope, that ain't gonna happen either. I will show them that I love them with my actions. And this has worked with more people than I care to mention.

Hi,

I'm not seeing the hatred.

I am seeing someone rushing in the room and throwing out a bunch of names.

In all sincerity, read a few pages of this thread.......take some time to cool down.....

and THEN come back and yell at us......:)

You just might find that we are actually pretty nice.....and better yet....some of us did the exact same thing you did and just start posting on a long running thread without taking the time to understand what is really being discussed

(Yeah, that was me......way back when.....)

;)

What is a hypocrite?

Someone that calls a person on this thread intolerant, yet is intolerant of that person's beliefs. That is hypocrisy.

What is intolerant?

This thread is chock-full of varying degrees and beliefs. We are not all in lock-step like the liberal left. YOU are the one attacking anyone who disagrees with your position. The only posts I've seen here are those discussing their disagreements with you. That is not attacking. You resorted to name calling and attacks against people who questioned your positions. That is intolerant.

Go peddle your hate somewhere else.

:rotfl: Me too! Y'all must have wondered about me in the beginning....I just jumped in the deep end...way back when...;)

Hey ya'll, Happy Veteran's Day!!!

Whoa....have a missed something. Is someone calling us "Jesusy".....like it's a "bad thing". I'm amazed at the folks that trash us... just because we're Christians. I guess, the "tolerant" ones are stepping up the bashing. I'm not surprised and it just steels my resolve.

Hi all, Happy Veterans Day. :goodvibes

I've been scanning and trying to catch up on posts; looks like I'll have some things to comment on shortly after I get a chance to better read it all.

Did anyone see the new button they're selling at McCain's store? "Don't Blame Me, I Voted for McCain-Palin." Y'all got your wish after all, if only in button form. :rotfl2:

Hi everyone! Whew! I think sarasotamom is a bit stressed. I'm not trying to be mean. I've just seen several of her posts today and they all seem to be on the same theme of "stop what you're posting." Maybe political "overdosing" is to blame. Heaven knows I've been feeling like this since last week. :sad2:

OR

maybe she just needs :flower3: ;)

Off topic - We're going to WDW next month and my DH has decided that he may want to take the Bay Lake cruise to see the MK fireworks!
Someone at his office told him about it. Has anyone done this before? I've been trying to find info on it and I'm not having any luck. Any help is greatly appreciated!

We are a tight knit group here. If you read more than a few pages you will find we are also a very diverse group. We have conservatives, moderates, and even a few Democrats in here. Our beliefs differ but we are extremely respectful of each other. We have no hate. You were the one who came in and started judging and throwing out accusations. We just defended our friend, who we all know to be a kind, thoughtful, tolerant person.

This is the second conservative thread I've seen you in. In both of them you threw out accusations without knowing the full story. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

In judging us, you have proven to be the truly judgemental one. Think about that.
