Reread your reply to Mugg Mann. Shouldn't he be able to post however he wants to and in whatever style? Giving someone guidlines on how you feel the question should have been answered isn't really productive to a debate forum.

Well, I will give you credit for sticking to your opinion and not being hypocritical about which side posts more on the other's thread etc. I also give you credit for being one of the few conservatives who has not fallen suddenly in love with Hillary.

For 16 years she was probably the most hated Liberal of them all from your side and now in the last month there is suddenly all this respect and admiration for her from your side.

I hardly think that a few people saying that as bad as they think that Hillary is, she isn't as bad (liberal) as Obama is a lovefest.

A "thoughtful response" is in the eye of the beholder. And if someone wants to C&P a joke, who are you to say he can't? That's my point. Just seems to me that you have some rules that you want others to abide by, and, especially on a 50/50 thread such as this is attempting to be, nobody should really start off by saying what should or should not happen. That's JMHO also. I don't want to start anything so I'll just drop it.

I must have missed out on that invitation. But I did get notices that both Obama and Hillary are in my town today holding rallies within a couple of miles from my house.

I live in a pretty conservative area, so I doubt that many of my friends and neighbors will be attending either of these. I'm sure that it will draw people from other areas though.

I'm sorry you'll miss an opportunity to be involved in history. I'd go see Senator McCain if he were campaigning within a reasonable distance (100 miles or so). Even though I'd never vote for him I'm interested in his message and viewpoint. I could tell my grandchildren I saw him when we talk about politics and history.

It's not like George W's 'Presidential' visits. His 'private' events paid for with my tax dollars amaze me. He's President of all the people but can't stand the chance anyone might be seen or heard disagreeing with him.

Thanks for setting the record straight. I hope all the Hillary supporters who have been joining in the Obama bashing with you cons realize that you pretty much hate Hillary as much as Obama and have no respect for her either.

I used to love campaign rallies. First one I remember was Humphrey (yes, I'm that old,*sigh* ) I also remember Gerry Ford was very inspiring. I'd recommend going to anyone, especially students. Like you said, it's a chance to observe political history.

I understand what you are saying. Honestly, if I wasn't so completely in disagreement with both of their messages, policies, etc., I would consider going. But I honestly would feel like a traitor sitting in the midst of all of the people who support the candidate, as well as taking a place from others. Plus, I would be afraid of being injured by all of the fainting Obama fans.

I hear they have cushioned areas for us to fall. And I think they offer hard hats to those who might be too near us so you won't suffer a head injury when we land on you.

Momto2 - you must be in Licking County! I grew up there and bailed out as soon as I was legal age. Too small, way too small. We've seen Barack twice and Hillary once thus far. Both were very educational for our son. The first Obama rally was about 2000 people. I doubt anyone will get THAT opportunity again for a long time. Last week at St. John's there were over 20,000 waiting by 9am in the cold. I've heard Westerville is a mess right now. I'd think they' d be well served to move that one outside. It's beautiful today around here, isn't it!? Have a great day!

I'm a 36. I'm a glutton for punishment on the debate threads...oh, and snarky and rude.

I'm in the camp that people should respect the liberal/conservative threads as a civil discourse of like minded individuals regardless of the "technical" rules.

In 2004 maybe 2 days before the election we went to a rally for Bush at the Pease tradeport in Portsmouth, NH and there was an obnoxious group of liberals there just because "they wanted to see the President" and they "we're every bit as entitled to be there as everyone else" Perhaps true, it was a ticket only event and I never quite "got" that....I'd never show up to disrupt a Democratic event...thats just not my style.

As to the President campaigning - he is the whole country's president - all should be allowed into the rallies........

And if you think about it - all should be let into any rally (as long as they aren't breaking the law by destroying property or harming anyone). Most of the people going to the rally are supporting that candidate any way. There should be a group of people there for the speaker to try to convince to vote for them.

Well, a lot of the pundits (on both sides) are saying, in order to compete with Obama for the Indie votes (which he will definitely need to win in Nov.), he's going to have to pick a moderate running mate, not a Conservative. Let's see how well that one goes over.
