The competition between the parks heats up

For weeks now we've known about the "buy 4 get 3 free" promotion at Disney World.

Then comes the free 7 day tickets to Universal Studios Orlando if you were one of the 100,000 to sign up after the Superbowl Ads played.

Now comes Sea World with their promotion of "buy 3 get 2 free" with unlimited admission to Sea World and Aquatica or Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

2009 is surely shaping up to be a great year for the consumer (and not so good for the parks).

SeaWorld trolls for visitors with deep discounts

With the economy still tanking, SeaWorld Orlando is rolling out an especially deep discount.

The company last week launched a deal in which guests who book three nights in any of nearly two dozen nearby hotels get two extra nights free -- plus unlimited admission for the week to SeaWorld and either its sister water park, Aquatica, or Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

It's the first time SeaWorld and its sister parks, operated by Busch Entertainment Corp., have offered such a promotion.

Packages start at $561 for a family of four, the equivalent of $28.05 per person a day. They must be purchased by March 31 and are good for most days through June 26.

There's also a $50 off for this spring at Discovery Cove....I've never seen any kind of deal there

I WON! I just got an email that I was one of the lucky winners. Check your email! The sender is Prize Fulfillment. I was hoping that I could gift them to somebody else but alas, you have to show ID at the park to claim your tickets. Hmmm, now maybe I have to plan a trip! Here's the text from the email:

Congratulations! You are one of the first one hundred thousand (100,000) individuals to successfully register for the Universal Heroes Promotion, administered by ePrize.

For your registration, you will receive a Universal Orlando® 2-PARK Unlimited Admission Ticket valid for 7 consecutive days at both Universal Orlando theme parks! Please see the Official Rules for further prize details and eligibility requirements. You will receive your Universal Orlando Park ticket confirmation code in the mail within the next 4-6 weeks. The ticket confirmation code mailer will be sent to the address you provided in your registration. You will need to present your ticket confirmation code mailer and a valid form of identification* at the ticket windows of either Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure theme parks. I won too! Although it says it will be arriving in 4-6 weeks...I wasn't planning on going to Universal this time...but if it got here before March 20th...I might change my plans...if not...maybe I'll have to be on the lookout for a cheapy airfare....good promo...worked to get me interested...havent' been to Universal in years.
