I know weve had a lot of college threads. But I cant find one directly related to what I need. I have a list of colleges I would like to visit. If any of you have visited these colleges, or better yet GO to one of these colleges, can I hear from you? I would love to get a fellow student's perspective, and not just the your guide I will meet. (Keep in mind I want to major in theatre education or double major in theatre and education [or in the case of Northeastern major in education and minor in theatre])

I included the names, location, and website of the colleges.

I am a junior and high school and I am going to be a speech pathologist/audiologist. These are the colleges I am going to apply to. They are all in Pennsylvania except for Loyola:
West Chester University
Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania
Loyola University (Maryland)
Penn State University
Marywood University

I can't wait to go to college.
Me and my friend have been researching colleges lately and found one in Michigan that sounded perfect for us and wouldn't leave us completely broke.
We are sooo excited.
And we plan on taking the ACT this year even though we are freshman.
Our teacher said if we get at least over 30 out of the highest 36 then the charge for being out of state won't be charged. We figure the earlier and the more we take it the better our chances are of getting a high score.

Everybody thinks we are overeacting planning for all of this...but we just like to be sure of our future and take action earlier to make it great and know what we are gonna do. :]

I have a friend who went to Catholic University and really liked it. My mom went to UF, and really liked it too.

Have you thought about any west coast schools?

I go to Gettysburg College, major in History (concentration in American Studies) and minor in Theatre Arts.
Just a plug for my college: If you like American History (specifically Civil War Era, but in general history), look into Gettysburg. We have an AMAZING history department, and our campus is located right at one of America's most significant events. :)

Anywho, when I was doing my college search, I looked at Gburg, Loyola Baltimore, Franklin & Marshall, Dickinson, and Muhlenberg.

If anyone has questions about the college application process, feel free to ask! :)

Oh, and Dot: I have friends at American, Catholic, and Emerson, and they all rave about their colleges!

I'm not well versed in the UNH departments and their credibility/amazingness, but I will say that A: Their athletics program is amazing. B: The campus is absolutely gorgeous and it's right near just about everything. and C: The food is wonderful! Best cafeteria food I've ever had. I spent a week there this past summer for a volleyball camp and from what I saw, it is an amazing school.

I am a sophmore in high school and planning on going into the medical field. I really want to be a childrens doctor. I will be minoring in music no matter what.

I have looked into some colleges. The top college I want to go to is Case Western University School Of Medicine. If I don't get into Case, I will try Bowling Green, or Toledo. If I go out of state, I will either go to University of Chappel Hill(North Carolina) or Morehead State University(Morehead Kentucky). Both out of state colleges, I have family that lives down there. In Morehead, I have a cousin who is my age will probably be going there.

I have two cousins who attend Chappel Hill in North Carolina. It seems like a good college. My uncle went to Case, but he went to their business school.

I've got your back on these.

My best friends sister goes to American and from what I hear she loves it. Granted she is majoring in business or something so I don't know exactly how great their performing arts section is. But from what I hear it is a really fun place. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but hey, that's DC.

UF sucks, especially in performing arts. All they really care about are grades and football. It's way too much of an academic school.

I LOVE Emerson. I applied but got waitlisted. It looks like SUCH a fun school. I visited the campus and the enviroment is really great. There appeared to be a lot of kids I could realate to. It's kind of a hippie school so a lot things are accepted. Really chill place.

And my best friend goes to Northeastern for music industry. She loves it as well. From what I hear it is a bit rigorous but she is also in a semi-academic major. But I also hear really good things about the people, teachers, enviroment etc.

Northeastern is a good school, but not the easiest to get into.

Umass isn't bad, but i personally found it too big for me. Also a "party" school.

Wheelock is right in Boston, as part of the colleges of fenway (Simmons, MCPHS, wentworth, Emmanuel) so the advantage is you can take classes at those schools as well as Wheelock. I've heard they're very good for education.

I liked UNH, but not sure about education program. It is semi-large, but everything is very close together so it feels small.

I will say though, if it's just an education major, Northeastern is BIG bucks for a pretty well known major (as in A LOT of schools offer it). Bridgewater State College in MA has an excellent education program and theater as well... at 1/5 the cost of Northeastern. It's a cute little school, but if you like bigger, that might not suit you well.

Good luck in your search!

Rhode Island College (RIC) is a bad college. I attend graduate school at Providence College and most people take classes at RIC because they can't afford classes at PC.

thanks for the input!

I am hesitent about Bridgewater, a friend of mine switched out of her theatre there because it wasn't intense enough, too many people didnt want to be there.American and Catholic are both top contenders. Wheelock, right now, is my top choice, because it has theatre education.

daughter_of_amid_chaos , can you elablorate on RIC being a bad school? Because it is cheap, or is there something else?

I did not attend RIC but I have heard from students that the classes are organized poorly, professors are not very good, etc.

Sorry about butting in on your thread.
But I have a question myself.

Does anyone know about Michigan State University?
Is it any good. Me and my friend right now are thinking about going there when highschool is over and I was wondering if anyone has anything to say about it?
