The Clock Has Struck Midnight

The 2 clocks are tied together to maintain the same time. Since they stopped at the same time its quite likely the hub construction may have required them to be shut off for a period of time.

I think we may have a winner!:)

That makes a lot of sense.

I would have thought all that "wiring" would be in the Utilidors but maybe not.:)

It always starts with those little, innocuous things, doesn't it? For instance, have you ever ordered one of these? (Picture).

I have. And the last time I did, they brought it to me without that chocolate foo-foo stick. I asked why since it was in the picture and they told me "oh, they stopped giving those".

Piddly minor little detail, right? I think not.

Every time you go..."

probably way too far fetched, but there is a "Midnight' theme that recurs through Into The Woods....which I cannot WAIT to see ;)

Last time we were there DH was obsessed with light bulbs. I must admit-it was shameful. You couldn't even distinguish the roof line of the Grand Floridian at night which surprised me. With the ultra 5 star Four Seasons open, you would think the Grand Floridian would try harder.

It was WDW wide. 2 letters out in the Boardwalk sign across from our Yacht Club room.

Oh sure, just light bulbs. You are right.....but it's a sign of maintenance struggles and I'm sure shattered budgets.

Oh he--. DH never has forgiven them for taking away Lights of Winter.

We cross the country for DL now. Closer to the "mother house" they take better care, cast members are more friendly and Grand Cslifirnian is our favorite Disney hotel anywhere. (They replace burned out light bulbs).

You are bad, bad..........bad.....bad....bad. But right!

As far as diminishing Christmas Decorations, they started cutting back slowly about 8 years ago. Then the recession and all of Disney was hit with the killer layoffs and budget cuts. Holiday Services was especially hard hit. That's when the big changes began. (Hubby a 30+ year cast member--wasn't pretty from inside).

I wish you could have seen it when all of WDW was literally dripping with holiday decorations. It truly was over the top - crazy cool!

I sure do miss those days, something to behold. So so much these past years.

Here is the Main Street USA clock during Parade taping and the two clocks as of yesterday.:)

Correct if I'm wrong but don't they tape the parade in bits and pieces and put it all together for television. It would look odd if the time was all over the place on the Christmas day show. Maybe setting the clock intentionally as to not have that issue. Just a thought.

Not sure about the Castle clock, but they put wreaths over the Main Street USA clock to "hide" the clock and also the parade taping ended Tuesday.:)

One glaring one to me are some very important neon lights being on. The main gate pic everyone takes from the car currently reads Walt Disney W_rld. And at aDhs Tonight I scored a FO for the T_Wer of Terror

Pretty iconic signs, both of them.

I can see that part of Tower of Terror's theme. Goes with the run down feel and spookiness ;), but seriously the main gate sign is sad.

As far back as I can remember, the second "o" in "Hollywood" was always out, the "e" in "hotel" and the "d" flashed, and the "w" was partially out. I'm pretty sure that it part of the theme in that it is a run down hotel that hasn't had maintenance in a while. Didn't know that the entrance sign even had neon since I have never arrived at night.

Correct. This is a show item, not a maintenance issue.

Yes bits and pieces over at least 2 days so continuity must be a pain the you know what. Also some on west coast some on the east coast.

Was it ever done "live" as in they did a honest to goodness real parade at 9:00 AM Xmas morning.

No, because at 6:00 a.m. it is still dark here in California.

Well then the East coast gets a WDW real parade and the west coast gets a DLR real parade. People in the middle get a tape delayed parade. Problem solved. :thumbsup2
