Ok, so I'm doing my first real trip to Disney World (sans family) for my birthday. I was figuring, on the day of my birthday, doing the Magic Kingdom, since it's seems to have the most Disney magic to me. I just can't decide where I want to eat!! lol Part of me really wants to do CRT, but also doesn't want to use 2 of my DDP table services. If not CRT, I was also thinking the dinner at 1900 Park Fare (I have an odd Cinderella fixation, even though my favorite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid). Then again, doing a character dinner on my birthday seems a bit....childish? But I definitely want to see the fireworks that night in MK. So, dinner at one of the monorail resorts seems like a good idea too (not counting 1900). If I go that angle, I then have the GF Cafe, Ohana, and the Kona Cafe. My final option would be to have an early dinner at Epcot at either the Coral Reef or Le Cellier. Opinions? Suggestions? Then to figure out what to do the other 6 nights I'm there. lol Thanks in advance!!!

We did the dinner at 1900 Park Fare and I thought it was much better than CRT. Lots of character interaction and the stepmother and sisters were hilarious! The food was also much better.

As for character meals on your bday, we did Ohana's breakfast and CP dinner on my 39th bday. It was a blast. I had such a good day. What's wrong with doing something fun that brings a smile to your face?

Go and enjoy...have a great time!

I bypassed character interaction for a long time, thinking the kids should have first and most time with them but, I gotta say, I have changed my mind! Go, play with the delightful charachters and have a most happy birthday!:wizard:

Im not sure who you are going with, but just keep in ming the MK does not serve alcohol at all, anywhere. If you want a birthday cocktail, go with a monorail resort. If your BDay falls Tue - Sat, try the Spirit of Aloha dinner show. If youre looking for characters, go to Chef Mickeys at the Contemp. (though I dont think there is a bar there either) I also vote for OHanas...fun atmosphere, great food.

If $$ is no object, I would def. go to Cali Grill at the Contemp. Best meal in the "World".

You could do also think about Whispering Canyon Cafe or the Wave.

Still trying to decide what I shall do for dinner. I booked CRT for breakfast on my birthday. I think I read somewhere about one of the resort restaurants doing firework dining and have the music playing in the restaurant when the fireworks are on? Anyone know where that may be? Any other good table services places to eat in MK? I'm not a big drinker, so I can do without a birthday cocktail.

You're talking about the California Grille on top of the Contemporary Resort (the hotel the monorail goes through.) It's a 2 table credit meal also...so you'd be using 4 table service to do two meals on your birthday if you do that and CRT breakfast (the CRT breakfast is 2 table service too) But heck, it's your birthday...if you want to splurge, go for it. We loved eating in the castle (did dinner) and the Cali Grille is an experience in itself.

At the Cali Grille, whether or not you get the window tables, you can go out on the deck & watch the fireworks. Even if you eat earlier, they tell you to keep your receipt and you can come back and watch from the deck.

Tony's is Ok!

Another idea for you for 1 table service, you could eat at The Kona Cafe at The Polynesian (very good steaks, wonderful desserts) then watch the fireworks from the Poly beach. Or for 1 you can eat at The Wave (again, great steaks & awesome desserts) then walk over to MK to watch the fireworks.

Glad to hear The Wave has good food. I was thinking about going there. Tony's was also in my mind, but I am thinking of doing Mama Melrose and don't want to eat too much Italian food. I was thinking I'd pay CRT OOP, so I'd still have 2 table service credits. I'm leaning more towards The Wave, since I can walk or monorail back to the park. I'll look at the menus on www.allears.net and see which menu catches my fancy the most. Thanks for the suggestions!!

Edit: I'm dumb. I forgot that the The Wave and Cali Grille are at the same resort. lol. But The Wave's menu looks better to me (plus I get to save a credit).

Narcoossees at the Grand Floridian also has fireworks! They turn down the lights, pipe in the music, and everyone grabs their cocktails and goes out onto the balcony to watch the fireworks. Their menu consists of items like whole maine lobster, grilled filet mignon, scallops, pan seared mahi-mahi, and their yummy crab bisque. For dessert, they have the BEST cheesecake! Check out their menu on allearsnet.com

In my opinion, why use two table service credits for the mediocre food at CRT, when you can have such an amazing meal at Narcoossees?

Enjoy your birthday! :cake:

I have to vote for Crystal Palace if you want character interaction, decent food, and only 1 TS credit!

Pooh and friends wander around the room while you eat some great food like salmon, tomato mozzarella salad, pork, and some delicious desserts!

Eeyore has always been my favorite, and when I told the character that, they made a "kissy" noise in my ear while I was posing for the pic! It was a lot of fun, I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Have a very happy birthday, whatever you decide, it's DISNEY, it'll be magical!!! :)

Ohana does something for the fireworks too. However, I would go with either The Wave or Kona.. Kona is one of our favorites!

1900 Park Fare was soooo fun! I loved it when I went with DH. The Stepmother even had my husband laughing, and the step sisters were real characters. Cinderella was so gracious and I got my picture taken with the prince. It was the perfect way to start off our vacation. Go for it!

Don't you hate this...so many good places to choose from lol. I love Ohana's and Kona..Coral Reef and Le cellier..I have others too lol. You can't go wrong with any of your choices really. Good luck and have a Happy Birthday. I love CRT.

I think CRT is highly overrated.

In MK Tony's is great and I found the food to be better at Tony's than at Mama Melrose.

'Ohana is really fun with good food and a great view too. :thumbsup2
