The Cheesecake Tour - Dining Report

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve added on here. I’m in a job search at the moment, so I have filled most of my extra time with that…much less fun than Disney and TRs.:headache:

March 21
You’ll have to forgive me, I thought I did so good with my receipts, but I seem to only have part of today’s, but we didn’t eat much, so I guess it will be okay.

Pizza cart – the first food we had today was a cart over by Test Track, and both got pizza. That was some good pizza!! Yummy!

Canada’s Mercantile Trade Post – Big Turk Candy Bar and Maple Cookies. Both are good. The maple cookies are like eating pancakes out of a box. Really tasty! Total - $11.19

Rose and Crown – We’ve been so excited to eat here, but by the time we actually get there, I’m not very hungry. There were several funny, non-food related occurrences during this meal, but I guess I’ll leave those out to draw you over to read my TR. :rolleyes1 Food wise, this was a pretty good meal. There were excellent things about it, and just okay things too. We started with the fruit and cheese appetizer, because I knew that was something I wanted to try, regardless of how hungry I was. Then I ended up just getting a little side salad with some sort of mustard dressing. DH got the grilled steak which came with mashed potatoes and some sort of bread thing that looked like a tuber. The fruit was tasty, and the cheese was fun! I will not even attempt to tell you the names, because I have no idea. :confused3 But there were 4 kinds – one was green, one was a little cheese scone, one was cheese in a pastry, and the other was a striped one. The green one was pretty good, very herby, but a little strong to eat by itself. It would have been good as a spread maybe. The scone was pretty bland, but I ate it with the cranberry jam that came on the plate and that was good. The pastry was WAY too strong of a flavor for either of us. The striped cheese was okay, but nothing too special. Still a fun little appetizer and tasty. And went well with the bread you get too. My salad was okay I guess…the dressing was not so great. It was too bitter, so I didn’t eat much of it, but that was okay by me. DH liked his steak pretty well, as well as the potatoes. The tuber was weird. For dessert, we had the BEST DESSERT! The Chocolate Guinness Torte. Oooohhh yum! It looked like fudge pie, had the texture of a brownie, but was so mild and smooth and cool, and perfect. It was awesome! Ironically, better than any of the cheesecake we had on the trip! Total - $36.34 DDE Savings - $8.53

We also had popcorn later, but I don’t think I need to review popcorn.

I totally loved your reviews. They made me so hungry and gave me some great ideas for our July trip. Hess Station completely intrigued me. Now I've got to read your TR. Thanks so much!!:goodvibes

Enjoyed reading your reviews. What I like most is I haven't eaten at any of your reviewed places, so it's great to read what some of the other places are like.
P.S. I LOVE Cheesecake and Chocolate Torte!!!:cool1:

Thanks for all your comments! I'm glad my report is enjoyable and helpful to some! I will hopefully get the next day on here today or tomorrow.

Thanks Cassie for the great reviews! I really enjoyed reading everything.

(and how was that popcorn anyway?)

First of all, let me apologize profusely for the huge delay. Once I finished my TR, I sort of lost the will to write. I apologize. Here is the final post of our dining from the trip.

March 22
Boma – The house juice here for breakfast is sooo good….you should all try it. I think it was mango and pineapple and orange maybe? No, wait. I think there was passion fruit. Hmmm….I’m not sure, but it was tropical-y and tasty. The buffet here is pretty standard for breakfast. Nothing very African, which is why I booked it. DH can be pretty darn picky, and I knew getting him to Boma for dinner would be an impossibility. But getting him to breakfast…that’s a different story. And now that he’s been there, there is a better chance for getting him there again in the future for dinner. (insert evil laugh here) The only things that seemed other than American was the pap and some other protein thing that tasted like corn. I tasted them both, DH did not. He watched me eat them as though one of us (the food or me) was from another planet. It was a fine buffet, but nothing too special. Total - 28.95 DDE Savings - 6.80

Earl of Sandwich – This place is definitely as good as people say. I’ve never been sure how a sandwich place could be so great, but it is. This was actually my favorite meal of the trip because it is my kind of food. I love sandwiches and wraps and salads. They also have an option here to get any salad on their menu as a wrap. I got a Caesar Salad Wrap. It’s pretty fun to watch them make your food too. Oh, but it’s very busy, and has long lines, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Dh got a Chinese Wrap…I think it was a kind of salad too. He liked it, I LOVED mine. It was soooo good. They are huge wraps though, so we both only ate half, and ended up wasting the other half since we were leaving the next day. We took them to the hotel and tried to save them, but there just wasn’t enough time left on the trip to eat them. Total - 18.54

Goofy’s Candy Company – This store needs to be about twice the size it is, and the making candy section should be the biggest part. It also takes awhile to make your own treat. It took us over 30 min. just to get our treat. But man is it worth it!!!! I got a Mickey Rice Krispie Treat, dipped in milk chocolate, covered in reese’s cups, drizzled with caramel. And let me tell you…I nibbled on that treat for about a week, and it was delicious!!! Dh got a peanut butter fudge cookie, dipped in dark chocolate, covered in Oreo cookies. He didn’t eat more than a few bites of his because it was so rich, and I never tried it...mine was too good to waste for eating his! Total - 6.93

Casey’s Corner – Yes, again. This is our favorite thing to do….get Casey’s and sit in the rose garden. Ahhhh….perfection. :cloud9: We split a Grand Slam (that’s a hot dog for those of you who don’t frequent Casey’s), fries and a drink. It was fabulous and Casey’s always is. Total - 8.07

March 23 – The final morning

Crystal Palace – We didn’t have to wait too long for our early ADR. The food here is always great, and our waiter was very nice. The characters are always fun, too. I love Pooh, and he loves me, so it’s always a pleasant time at CP. For those of you who haven’t been to CP, it’s really one of the best buffets at WDW. They have a great variety and it’s always really tasty and fresh. They also have some of the best fruit on their breakfast buffet! And the puffed French toast is awesome. Total – 32.36 DDE Savings – 7.60

Thanks for reading! Watch for us again in October!

Thanks, really enjoyed your witty reviews. I don't think we've ever had cheesecake at WDW! Next time, I'm definitely getting the strawberry cheesecake at Kringla.:cool1:

Cassie,

Your reviews are great! And if you live anywhere near me, I'ld be happy to make a cheesecake for you anytime! (My caramal apple has won a contest or two!)

Thanks for the great read!

Wow! What a great offer! We leave near Nashville, in Murfreesboro. Anywhere close?

I love that you reviewed the Hess station! My favorite coffee drink anywhere is at the Sunoco gas station--pumpkin pie cappuccino in the fall! Mmmmmm! I even been known to stop for one in the scary part of town, where you trip over the giant barrel of beer on ice inside the store, before you can get to the coffee counter!:rotfl:

Oh I LOVE American cheesecake! I want some right now! Sadly the only thing you can get in Britain is naff horrible British cheesecake which is gooey and not baked and just ugh.

I'd kill for a cheesecake factory.

Interestingly DH doesn't like, I would even say hated, UK cheescake but loved the Cheescake Factory Cheesecake he had last year!

Claire ;)
