Ok, coming from the UK I have no idea about your supermarkets. I have looked at a map of the 192 and the closest to me would be Goodings Winn-Dixie or Publix. Is one better than the other? There is a Walmart but it seems quite far from where we are staying. Any views are appreciated as to which is better and why.
Many thanks,
Claire

Although Goodings is the closest it is expensive. I would suggest, if you don't mind the longer drive, going to the Wal-Mart on 192 in Kissimee. They have all the major brand groceries, fruits and veggies, etc. The prices are the best I have seen. It is a busy Wal-Mart, in fact, I read some where that this particular Wal-Mart is the busiest in the U.S.
ADP :D

We were at that Walmart in August at 11PM and it was so busy. I also didnt like all the construction around there. The street looked like a war zone as its all torn up. Also I have to tell you I am a bit finicky when I come to shopping. That particular Walmart wasnt up to standards in my opibion how do I put this delicatly. It was pretty dirty looking . Maybe the war zone out side made me a bit more critical. I dont know but I didnt care for that area at all. I was ther in 1998 and it was not like it is now.

Beacuse of all that construction I felt that whole area is down hill, less safe feeling to me and I really feel bad for all those businesses as I noticed many of them went out of business.

We stopped at the Goodings one time and walked right out. The prices were high and the store was small. We went down the road just a bit and hit the Publix. Publix has typical Grocery Store prices.

Yes, I would avoid the Wal-mart too. I went there on my last trip because I didn't know any better and I thought it was quite a bit of a drive. Not horrible...about 15-20 minutes. But I think the Winn Dixie (what we will be using next week) or Publix would be better choices. Even if the prices are a bit higher (don't know that they are), I think it is worth paying to save time. And yes, went to Goodings on another trip and they are WAY expensive!

Is the Publix a nice one? I've been to a nice Publix (big, newish, clean) that I think was near WDW. I went to the Publix near Universal not long ago and it was small without the selection that the other one had.

There are several Publix in the area. The one I've been to most recently was on 535. There may also be one on 192, but I'm not sure.

The Publix on 192 was very nice, clean and fairly big.

I usually go to the Publix on 192 and International Drive SOUTH since we usually stay on that side of Disney at OKW or BWV and it's easier to get to that the Winn Dixie. It's easy to get to from Disney World: drive East on Osceola Parkway, go over I-4 and take a right (South) on International Drive South. The beautiful Gaylord Palms is on that corner. Go under 417 and take your first left into the Publix parking lot. There is also a Walgreens Drug Store on the corner. I usually shop at both places.

Unless you want to spend a couple of hours shopping for groceries, I wouldn't go to the Wall*Mart. It is HUGE and very busy. The parking lot is jammed with cars and the lines are horrible. Of course, you may consider it an adventure ;).

It sounds like Publix is the place. Thanks a lot guys,
Claire
