The previews looked good, so I planned to see this movie weeks ago. This morning, the review in the Hartford Courant gave it a very average three star rating. "It moved too slow, took too long to reveal the plot, Angelina Jolie looked like a "flapper", etc. I threw caution to the wind and went to the matinee. The movie is based on a true story of Christine Collins and the disappearance of her nine year old son, Walter. The LAPD was slow to respond, and ultimately returned a boy that was not her son. What followed was a tale of police abuse that used the mental health system, such as it was, to punish and silence an angry parent. I think Angeline Jolie is beautiful. In this movie she was merely pretty, not glamorized and she played the role beautifully. The story did move slowly but appropriately so. I felt that I was watching a movie that could have been filmed in 1930...except it was in color. John Malcovich played the role of the Presbyterian pastor who was on a mission to "right many wrongs". I thought it was a great movie. I am glad I ignored the review.

I am so glad to hear this, I really want to see it. Maybe I will make Dh take me tomorrow night.

I also want to see this flick. I am a HUGE Jeffery Donovan fan, so I'm really excited to see him along side Angelina. Thanks for the review!

I tend to not pay attention to reviews. I have gone to so many "great"movies only to walk out thinking 'what drugs were they on wenh they watched that?' and have seen some really good movies that reviewers thought were the worst of the year

Excellent movie, we just got back.

I was impressed with Jolie.

I was intrigued by the preview of an upcoming Eastwood movie (acted and directed )Gran Torino.

Thanks for posting this. I just saw an ad for it and it looks like the kind of movie I would like.

SSB very glad that you liked it!

I had hoped that it would premiere in Toronto at TIFF but was not there. It has gotten mixed reviews... but some (I believe Roger Ebert one of...) have given it very good marks as you did. Shall look forward to seeing... and thanks for your post.

I didn't see that preview. I did see the previews of the Brad Pitt movie, "The Curious Case of Benjamen Buttons; The Nicole Kidman movie, Australia, and Seven Pounds with Will Smith. All of which I would be interested in seeing.
