The Center of WDW

I remembered reading a post saying there was something in Epcot which marks the exact center of WDW. On my May trip, I asked about it and none of the CMs seemed to know where to find it. All I could remember is that it was near the fountain just before you got to the World Showcase.

Does anyone know what the marker looks like? Are there any distinguishing features? I found a survey marker in the area, but I've seen those around WDW so I don't think that's it.

I have never heard of this before - interesting. In any case, the geographic center of WDW would have shifted back in the 1990s when Celebration was handed back over to Osceola County, so if there is something, it's probably not accurate.

I worked there during construction in project development and have no idea what you are referring to. It is possible the concept "EPCOT Center" is what the reference is; where the park showcased the cutting edge technology that is propery wide--Solid Waste Energy Treatmet (SWET) Plant, Solary Energy at the Central Energy Plant, fiber optics, Tree Farm, monorail, WEDway Peoplemover (now TTA), etc. This was the theme of "Astuter Computer Review" the attraction in Communicor that looked into Engineering Central. There were challenges during pre opening about transitioning the domed city Walt described on TV as EPCOT to what the reality became. "Center" was dropped a few years ago and the EPCOT concept has change to Epcot the place. I believe it was done for Brand identification reasons.

I thought it was something that was similar to the center marker that was found at DL ... Maybe I misread the post

I think I copied this from the Disney Secrets thread a while back. I had it pasted into a word file that I titled Disney Tips.

"The Marker in Epcot that represents the center of WDW,
its just to the west of inoventions west (on that path that leads stright to the Land), its a circle and it has quotes from diffrent inventors and scientests and I believe even Walt has a quote




I just had this copied so I cannot verify it.

But it might be what you're thinking about.

Back in Feb, I dragged by girlfriend all over future world looking for the marker and heres's how to get there:

Stand facing the main Information Booth in Futureworld (the one in between Spaceship Earth and the water with the big sign that shows the wait times).
Walk to the right about 150-175 steps through the Breeseway toward The Land.
About 30 steps before the Land, look at the ground and you will be there.

The marker is about 10 or 15 feet across with all sort of sayings and a short note on some of the famous inventors.
Its nothing too spectacular, but its kinda coll knowing your standing in the center of WDW.

ALSO, you're right near one of the talking water fountains.
Stand with your back to The Land facing the Breeseway.
Walk diagonally to your right torad the bathrooms.
You will see two waterfountains opposite the bathrooms.
One of the two will give you a surpise when you take a drink.

I guess there are a few other talking water fountains, but I couldn't find those.

Actually the one with the inventors is wrong. As a cast member at Epcot, for my discovery day our trainer made us stand in the middle of WDW. Where this is: its not by innoventions with the name of all past scientist. In fact its the other way.

This is correct. it is betwenn the dancing fountain and the little garden that lead to the world showcase. It has no makers no signs or anything. Actually its gray little walkway. If you remember what EPCOT's old logo was that is where it is. It has redwalkway around it and with gray in the middle. Hopefulyl I have a pic and i can send it out. But that is it. The center of WALT DISNEY WORLD.
