I recently switched phones/numbers with my cell provider. Went from a prepaid to a contract. February 8th the prepaid was shut off. February 12th DD9 asked me if she could have the phone to play games on it. I said sure, and called it to make sure it wasnt working any longer. It wasnt. I tried to place a call from the phone- wouldnt work.
Sunday night, DBF's cell phone beeps- he opens it and its a text message that says 'whats up" He doesnt recognize the number, and ignores it. An hour later it beeps "this is goo". (DD9's nickname). he looks at me and says- that phone still works...
I call DD at her fathers house to see if it was in deed her. Sure enough, his number was in the phone book, so she sent it to him to see what we were doing....my phone number wasnt in the book, and she couldnt figure out how to input the number... i explained to her that the phone was for games, and not to text anyone else in the address book, or her friends with phones etc.. she said okay, and that was that.
Last night we were out for my birthday, and I sent her a text on that phone- "hey goo its mom, just wondering if this is still working". No reply, so i figure finally they've shut the text messaging off. 6 oclock this morning, she texts me, "what time is the concert tonight so i can tell dad". I was like holy crap it does work!...we text'd back and forth for a minute or so and then I said- okay shut the phone off.
I had called us cellular on Monday, to inquire why this phone was still texting, they had no answer. Because it was a prepaid phone, on the 8th, when I did not have enough $$ on the account to cover the monthly charge, it should have shut off everything for some reason, her phone can still text. Both send and receive.
She's bringing the phone home this morning on her way to school, and i'm going to try and figure this thing out. Makes no sense to me!
