Oh, boy, my DS5 would have loved this for his birthday cake!

My first attempt at posting a picture of something I made. I made earrings too but I was wearing them and forgot to take them off for the pic.

As a new jewelry addict, I'm experiementing with different combinations of beads and clasps. Unfortunately, I didn't have a gold or bronze clasp for this but I was so excited about it I had to go ahead with what I had. This took hours to make because I started with another design in mind, using a black/silver glass bead as my main bead and working with other beads that I had on hand. I kept manipulating the beads and not liking the configuration. Then I tried working with some green beads I had, again I wasn't satisfied. Finally, the red ones. The main piece is dyed coral, and there are several smaller pieces of coral in it. I kept trying all these red combination and just didn't like it until I remembered the brown/amber beads I had for something else. Then it started coming together. Once the muse spoke, it worked!

well lets put it this way.... the only other thing i know how to crochet is a single chain .....lol one of the other posters said that she found the pattern at walmart..... its hard to explain but very easy to make.... vicki

thanks...it was actually pretty easy once I came up with an idea
empty CD tin from Archivers
painted it with MM acrylic paint (scuff it a bit with sandpaper first)
cut to fit paper, glued on..tear a coordinating paper for top layer, rub-on letters
Ribbon is wrapped around the lid (and glued under a piece of paper on the inside of the lid)
Dragonfly was a rusty bronze colored Christmas ornament from Pier 1 (painted with same MM paint and sprinkled a little glitter into the wet paint)
Prima flower (touched up with paint to match)

My first foray in creating an autograph book. I used scrapbook paper and Jolee dimensional stickers, as well as silver rimmed tags and epoxy stickers to add the name. I would still like to add a Mickey Mouse dimensional sticker on the left side, cover the inside of the covers and maybe figure out how to laminate the whole cover for added protection.

Can I ask what you used to make this??? I LOVE it!! I think I will try to make 2 for my girls for our Sept. trip.

Carefully remove the spiral from the book. The entire book was wrapped in plastic so I opened the plastic just enough to pull out the covers and leave the paper clumped together. You could clip the paper with a black binder clip so the pages stay lined up and don't separate.

I used double stick tape along the edges of the paper to attach. Cut the paper to length, about an inch longer to wrap around the cover. The red book I only allowed about 1/4" and the edges keep popping up, but on the blue book I made the pieces longer and they are staying down. Use the tape on both the edge that will stick to the front and again on the edge that wraps around to the inside. Eventually I added the matching paper to the inside of the cover to hide the raw edges, with that piece going from edge to edge.

On the blue book I used some of those mounting squares that are on a roll in box (I forget which brand and the actual name) to adhere the ribbon. Spacing them about 1/2" apart was easier than trying to use the double-sided tape reel on a piece of ribbon the didn't lay flat and still.

I used a drapery hook with a sharp point (the kind used to hang pinch-pleat drapes), or use a nail, to re-open the holes for the spiral. Punch from the top side, especially for the ribbon. We had a slight disaster with the blue book where it frayed terribly and I made a repair to replace a portion of the ribbon.
Replace the spiral from the left side, not the right (lesson learned) as this will thread from the top side through the book.

Hi everyone! I've been reading the DIS forums more often now that I'm busy planning our Christmas WDW vacation! I just found this Arts and Crafts forum today. I love all of the artwork posted in this thread and I thought I'd post some of mine, too! I'm a quilter. I make photo quilts and am starting to make pin quilts for all of my Disney pin collections. Here are a few...

This last one lets me display all of my Halloween Pin Pursuit pins and some vacation photos. I'm working on a Pooh pin quilt now...
