Okay, so I wandered on over to see what this this is...this thing you call a pre trip report? Why would anyone care what I'm gonna do? I decided to go ahead and do it anyways because, while I'm not a great writer, I do enjoy it, getting all my thoughts kinda out, so here I am.

So, I get over here and try and read the "rules"...the "instructions," if you will. But wall o' text almost killed me. So, I skipped back and decided I'd do this how it makes the most sense to me and if I screw it up, I'm certain someone will tell me. XD

So, to start with, the cast:

Constant Players:

Me - :ccat: Jenn 31yo mom in the Atlanta area. I work in accounting for an asphalt and bridge construction company at a job I hate. I'm an enormous geek and when I'm not spending my free time with my DD, I'm either reading geeky stuff or playing World of Warcraft. Or hopelessly drooling over Aaron Douglas from Battlestar Galactica. But that's a /squee for another day. :)
DH - :goofy: Chris 35yo dad in the Atlanta area (well, duh). He works as a programmer for Home Depot and actually likes his job pretty well. He's the geek who made me geeky. :) He also plays WoW, but he's probably drooling over Grace Park from Battlestar instead of Aaron Douglas, so it works out. :)
DD - :stitch: Emily 4yo cutie pie (okay, okay, she's in the Atlanta area too!) who loves all things princess. But not to discriminate, she's also in love with Cars, High School Musical, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, etc, etc, etc. Pretty much, if it's Disney, she's all about it. Throw some Dora and Diego in there and she's good to go.

Then, we have the Others (No, they aren't going to steal our children for the Dharma Initiative):

-First, we invited DH's sister, her husband, and their son, who's a year younger than DD. They passed, thinking their son was too young for the trip.
-Then, we invited two Disney fiend friends of our's who have a little girl, also about a year younger than our DD. We started planning, decided on a date, were going to rent some DVC points and stay at SS, going in January 2009. Then, I get an email from them. She's unexpectedly pg and due in early December, so they're out!
-NOW, our group consists of the primary players (Me, DH, and DD) and a friend of ours. Our friend used to work at both the first and second daycare DD went to. After she left the second day care, we became good friends. She also plays WoW with us. She currently nannys for another family. So, we're taking her and paying for most everything but souvenirs and she's going to be there to help reign in DD, ride a few adult rides with us (so we won't have to always ride alone), and babysit on any nights that we need it. Plus, she's really cool. And this icon totally fits her, so she will be dubbed DF (dear friend) :hippie: .

Travel Dates:
We started off deciding to go December 6-12. Then, when we added the other family, we got moved several times to pretty much all the weeks in January 2009 except the MLK week. Now, since they're out, we're back to December 6-12. I've only been to DW once and that was less than a year after DH and I got married in 2000. I LOOOOVED it and knew I would have to take my child there in the future. You know, when I got one. So, ever since we started talking about TTCing, I knew I wanted to go the December before our kid would start school. So, here we are. The time is absolutely perfect. The lowest attendance week of the year and you get the bonus of seeing all the Cmas stuff.

Where we're staying:
Well, originally, we were thinking a moderate that's not Port Orleans. (That's where we stayed last time.) Then, when we were going with our Disney Nut friends, we were gonna stay at Saratoga Springs. NOW, we're trying to save $ since we're paying for an extra person and we're going to do a family room at All Star Music. That's the plan, anyway. We're getting together with said friend tonight, so we'll discuss and hopefully get the reservations done by the end of the weekend.

Advanced Dining Reservations:
What are those??? Just kidding. We've got until the beginning of next month to decide on that, but we're already thinking that the Norway princess meal, Ohana and Chefs de France will be making our list. Not sure where else. :)

Itinerary:
Not yet. The first time we went, I tried to follow a touring plan from the Unofficial book. Turns out, the time we went was so UNcrowded that we didn't need it at all. In fact, we were able to do all of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in one day and be finished by around 2pm or so. And that was riding EVERYthing. So, this time, especially since we'll have a Little with us, we're taking the more relaxed approach. It goes against ever fiber of my being, but I think we'll end up being happier for it in the end. So, as far as an Itinerary, we'll decide which park we want to go to on which days, so we'll know how to arrange our ADRs...but that's about as far as it will go. We also plan on doing probably one non-park day. Not sure if it will be strictly DTD shopping or maybe seeing the other resorts...I don't know yet. We're not going to do anything off the property though, either. No Universal, SeaWorld, whatever. At least, not THIS time. /cackles maniacally :lmao:

The Rest:
Other than that, I'm just making lists and researching. Got my list of things to try and get...ways to pack, etc. I did get the Baggalini and tried it out on our most recent trip to the GA RenFest and it worked well, so I'm thinking it was a good purchase. I just ordered the Passporter, so I'm anxious to see what's all in that. I got the 2008 Unofficial Guide at Cmas and have already gone through that. It was easier since I knew what to skip from the last time!

So, that's about it for now. I'll update when we get/decide on our ADRs and when we pick our sparce Itinerary. And anything else I can think of. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Ask away. :)

Update #1
Update #2
Update #3 - ADRs made!

Have fun going in December! The Christmas decorations are amazing, and like you said, the crowds will be low (not that I can speak from experience, we always go during the busy times... )so it'll be much easier to do what you want! :thumbsup2

Aww Christmas time at Disney! I'm jealous already! I've only been at DLRP and I loved it! I'm looking forward to it for you!

Short update from me:

We decided to go through Small World Vacations. I'll be calling them shortly to go ahead and confirm and pay my deposit. I'm so excited! We decided to go ahead and go through them because they'll do all that ADP reservation, etc stuff for us. It's less I have to worry about!

I've got my party looking over restaurants and stuff and we're getting together this weekend, so hopefully we'll discuss all that and see where we're at. I hope to get our choices pretty well settled soon. I'm anxiously awaiting the park schedules so I can get it all set and email my choices to Susie at SWV!

I think we're gonna go ahead and do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. We didn't do it last time and I think my DD would LOVE this. I was a bit hesitant because of the price and that it's so late (for her, anyway), but it's vacation. What the heck?! :)

I also got my Passporter in the mail and am enjoying it, despite DH :goofy: and DF :hippie: teasing me mercilessly about it. They SO do not get my uber-anal planning personality. But they sure do benefit from it, huh? :-P

I made a paper loop chain for DD :stitch: to help her count down until THE DATE. :) It's currently looked from the chandelier in our dining room and around the table several times!

Here's our tentative touring plan, pending the info about EMHs etc:

Saturday: Leave at 8am and drive down. Probably arrive around 4-5pm. We'll probably make an ADP and then either check out the pool or DtD.
Sunday: Animal Kingdom
Monday: Epcot
Tuesday: Pool/DtD day with MVMCP in the evening.
Wednesday: Magic Kingdom
Thursday: MGM...er, whatever it's called now! :-P
Friday: Probably a half day at MK, maybe some shopping.
Saturday: Breakfast, probably a character one, and then drive home.

I have a question, how do you link a specific post in your thread? How do you find the URL? Most places, usually have a button or some such, but I can't find it here.

TIA!

you need to click on the number of the post in the top right and that should take you directly to that post!! Just copy the url from the bar and you've done it!! Took me a while to work it out as well!
Great itinery by the way! :thumbsup2

Sounds fun! What a great time of year to go! Crowds are low, weather is pleasant (usually), and the Christmas decorations are up!

Thanks so much! I kept thinking it should be something obvious, but that's not obvious at ALL! TY!

ADP Update! As well as a Tentative Plan:

Here's what I'm thinking right now. Feel free to give any opinions. I posted on the Dining board too and have already gotten some good advice and have ammended a few things. :)

Eaters: :rotfl:
-Me. 31yo mom of one. Allergic to seafood, but will try most anything else. Loves just about anything Disney.
-DH. 35yo dad of one. Likes seafood and will try most anything. Loves spicy stuff. Loves Disney.
-DD. 4yo typically picky eater. Loves Princesses, High School Musical, and Lilo and Stitch.
-DF (Friend/Babysitter). 30yo single woman. Dislikes Chinese. Picky eater, but SAYS she can find something anywhere to eat.

We've talked about all the restaurants on our list, so we're all reasonably fine with them all. Also, to pick my parks and the times I list as getting to the parks, I used TGM and last year's schedules. I don't think I'm revealing anything in saying that. Schedules are available here and TGM recommends several parks each day, so I'm pretty sure I'm good. Anyway, so the times and such are subject to change, but I'm cautiously optimistic that this year will be like last year. All times and days for shows are also using last year's info. All but MVMCP, of course, 'cause we know when that will be. Also, if a meal isn't mentioned, we'll do CS (which we aren't really planning and will just pick what's close, for the most part). Also, we're on the DDP Basic for 3 adults and 1 child for 7 hotel nights. Anyway, on to the plan:

Saturday, 12/6: Leave Atlanta area around 8am. Hopefully arrive at All Star Music and check into our Family suite around 4-5pm. I was originally going to plan a nice dinner for this night since we'd be just getting there, but now I'm thinking we'll just pick some random CS somewhere. If we get there early enough, we'll probably check out DtD or hang by the pool. Then, in bed early-ish.
Sunday, 12/7: Ohana at the Poly for the Lilo and Stitch Breakfast at 7:30 or 8am. Head over to MK for the day, hopefully around 9am or so. Probably have an early CS lunch and head out of the park around 2 or 3, depending on how DD's doing. Dinner that night at Le Cellier at Epcot around 6pmish. I might move this to another day and we can stay at MK and see Wishes and do a CS instead.
Monday, 12/8: Akershus in Norway at Epcot at 8:30am. Continue on in Epcot for the day afterwards. Possibly Tangerine Cafe CS for lunch (I mention, because one of our filler or reserve restaurants is Marrakesh, but if we can't do Marrakesh, we'll do Tangerine.) Dinner at Rose & Crown around 7pm, followed by Illuminations at 9:30pm. I'm worried about this day. I think it's WAY too long for my DD to be at a park. We'd probably try a nap in the middle of the day, maybe leaving around 3pm and hopefully getting back earlier, but at least by 6ish.
Tuesday, 12/9: This is our non-park day. Sleep in after our later night the night before. Hang out at the pool. Check out DtD some more. Maybe tour some resorts...whatever we feel like. Lunch at Beaches & Cream where DF and I get something reasonable and DH and DD pretend like they'll eat the entire Kitchen Sink. /lol This night, I've got a lot of contingencies. IF we do MVMCP, we'll do it this night. If not, we've got 2 options. Dinner at Chefs or Bistro in France in Epcot for DH and I while DF and DD do their own thing and get to bed early-ish and then PI for DH and I. OR DF and I go to House of Blues. Waiting on the schedule for that. Not sure if we'd do that after dinner or what. Possibly dinner for 4 in France and then HoB for drinks and music.
Wednesday, 12/10: DHS for this day. Arrive around opening time and spend the day there. No real food plans unless we do the Fantasmic Pkg and do Mama Melrose. I'm gonna check out the youtube video posted on another thread to get a better idea if we'd be interested. If we're not, this night's also an option for dinner in France or HoB.
Thursday, 12/11: Animal Kingdom. Jiko for dinner.
Friday, 12/12: This is our non-specified park day. DD's choice. Probably MK, but she may surprise us. No reservations for Breakfast or Lunch. Dinner for Spirit of Aloha at the Polynesian, 5:15.
Saturday, 12/13: Quick CS, probably just at All Star Music and then head home.

Sorry, I know that was really long. :flower3: and  if you made it through!

Cliff's Notes Version:
Saturday 12/6: Drive down, no ADPs. CS that evening...somewhere.
Sunday 12/7: Ohana for breakfast at 7:30 or 8am. MK for the day. Le Cellier at 6pm OR Wishes at MK and CS.
Monday 12/8: Akershus at 8:30am. EP for the day. Possibly Tangerine Cafe CS for lunch. Rose & Crown 7pmish and Illuminations at 9:30pm
Tuesday 12/9: Non-Park day. Hang out by the pool. Visit DtD and shop. Whatever. Lunch at Beaches & Cream. Possibly MVMCP at night.
Wednesday 12/10: DHS for the day. Maybe Fantasmic Pkg with Mama Melrose that evening.
Thursday 12/11: AK for the day. Jiko for dinner.
Friday 12/12: DD's choice. Probably MK, but who knows. Spirit of Aloha that evening.
Saturday 12/13: Quick CS at ASMu before we drive home.

I still need to fit in:
Chefs or Bistro in France and House of Blues one night. At this point, I'm thinking of ditching MVMCP and Fantasmic to free up 2 nights. It's not like we won't come back!

Sunday 12/7: Ohana for breakfast at 7:30 or 8am. MK for the day. Le Cellier at 6pm OR Wishes at MK and CS.

Although it would be really sad to miss Wishes, I would not want to skip out on Le Cellier! It was my favorite restaurant when we went in 2006, and I can not wait for that mouth-watering steak! Try to fit in Wishes on another day!

Then, we invited two Disney fiend friends of our's who have a little girl, also about a year younger than our DD. We started planning, decided on a date, were going to rent some DVC points and stay at SS, going in January 2009. Then, I get an email from them. She's unexpectedly pg and due in early December, so they're out!

:lmao: Our cast for our March 2008 WDW trip changed TWICE because of unexpected stork visits.

You'll be going to WDW the week after we go to Disneyland. I can't wait to see Disney Christmas decorations!:santa:

ADR Update:

So, today's our 180 day mark. I just talked to our TA and had pretty good news. Most everything we wanted, we got. There was only one major change and it's not too bad. So, here's what we've got, along with our park (and other stuff) plans added in. Here it is:

Sat 12/6 - Drive down. CS somewhere. I'm thinking maybe Earl of Sandwich at Dtd.
Sun 12/7 - Ohana at 7:40am at the Polynesian. Then head to MK. Dinner at Chefs de France at 5pm. (This is the major change. They only had Le Cellier for 8:30am, so she switched our Chefs and Le Cellier)
Mon 12/8 - Akershus in Norway at 8:40am. Epcot afterwards. Probably Tangerine Cafe (Morocco) CS for lunch. Dinner at Rose & Crown at 7:10pm and Illuminations at 9:30pm.
Tue 12/9 - Free day. Pool, DtD, maybe tour some hotels. Lunch at Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club. Dinner for Michele and Jenn at House of Blues. (This one, she can't make for another few days, but she's going to make it for 5. W/o a schedule, we can't tell. 5pm's when they open and have entertainment with a regular act. 7pm when they have big names. So we'll bet on some local stuff and try for 5pm. If the schedule comes out later and we need to, we'll try and change it.)
Wed 12/10 - DHS day. Reservation at Le Cellier at 7:25. This is the only time she could find. So, we'll definitely try and do a nap in the middle of the day here.
Thu 12/11 - AK day. Reservations for Jiko at 5:30pm.
Fri 12/12 - Em's choice of park, probably MK. Spirit of Aloha at the Polynesian at 5:15 in Category 1 seating.
Sat 12/13 - Leave. Possibly stop at DtD for any last minute stuff.

There ya go. :)
