The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

I am seeing We Will Rock You tonight. Has anyone seen it? It's part of our package, but apparently reviews have not been good of other cities performances. I figure the music has to at least be good, and it can't be any worse than Flashdance was.

We Will Rock You was (in my opinion) silly and stupid, but it knew it. So it was great fun (and the band was top notch). Flashdance was silly and stupid, but it took itself seriously. So I hated it. ;p

Aw man - I hope it gets better! We have that coming this year and I am really looking forward to it.

However, i LOVED flashdance!!! Wasn't really looking forward to it but it blew me away! Why didn't you like it??

We saw Book of mormon on Sunday! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I love, love, LOVE Book of Mormon!

Heads up to all Newsies fans that the website has announced a national tour starting September 2014! Many cities are listed already with a "more to come" added. No Seattle or Vancouver yet which is what I have my fingers crossed for!! So excited... :cheer2:

We're seeing Newsies in NYC on Easter weekend (and Aladdin and Matilda). I also have season tickets to Pittsburgh's Broadway series. Guess I might get to see it twice. :) I'm also going with some girlfriends to NYC in June. We're seeing Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Avenue Q, and If/Then. That would be the trip my 12 year old will *not* be attending. ;)

Yesterday DH came home with tickets to Aladdin on Broadway! We are going April 20th (Easter Sunday)! :cool1: :cool1:

I love Turn it Off also, probably my favorite from that show, and the tap dancing was outstanding!
But I agree, the pinnacle of tap dancing is Step In Time, probably my favorite dance number in any show I've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!

Well, We Will Rock You was way better than Flashdance in my opinion LOL. It had some really stupid parts, pretty much any time the "authority" people were onstage, but when the two leads were on stage alone it was fantastic! And the bohemians were a ton of fun too, Buddy Holly in particular, I loved him. The vocal talent in the two leads was amazing!!! He gave me goosebumps a couple of times. I would pay to see it all again, just to see the final number again! It had a similar vibe to Rock of Ages, but not as good overall.

Hmmmm I thought Rock of Ages was just ok. I mean it was good enough but the narration lost me and the music wasn't as good to me as Queen!!!

I was surprised how many songs I had never heard in this show. The Narration is far worse in We Will Rock You. The storyline is pretty darn week. Some of the musical numbers make up for it, thank goodness! But if you want a great story with your show, this isn't it LOL.

Hah well I am just expecting a jukebox show.

It is a great tap song, but our favorite from the show is Hasa Diga Eebowai. ;)

Love that one too. haha!

Just saw Rock Of Ages last Saturday in Vegas! Really enjoyed it. Loved the 80's! And my new favourite expression is "B-O-O... H-O-O!! Using it liberally with the kids... lol!
