The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

I'm very excited for Caissie and Nikki! I'm not sure how I feel about Will Svenson though. :-/

We saw Billy Crystals 700 Sundays today, from the first row center pit, and wow!!! If any of you are close enough to New York and can go see it, I highly recommend it . I laughed so hard my face hurt and tears were running down down my face, then is cried, then I laughed and cried some more. It was truly amazing. So moving and beautiful and funny!!!

Last weekend I saw "Little Miss Sunshine" over at Second Stage Theatre. I loved the movie and was curious as to how it would transfer to stage (and as a musical!). I really enjoyed the show. The cast is excellent, the songs enhance the show, and I loved the use of space with the staging.

My DS14 is going to see Pippin tomorrow with the high school choir from our church. He is SO EXCITED. He downloaded the soundtrack and I think he has the entire thing memorized. And he now knows what his audition piece will be for the HS musical in the spring ;)

I have tickets to White Christmas this weekend. Have any of you seen it?

Yes, saw it on Broadway a couple of years ago. It's mostly like the movie, with a few differences, and it was very good. How could it not be?

A friend's daughter is the prop manager for a production of "White Christmas" in Vermont this year. We may drive up there to see the show .

Oh I'm glad it is good. I have tickets to see it in December. On another note I saw Wicked twice this past weekend, and will hopefully see it once more this upcoming weekend, and I'm sure I have said it on this thread before but it is just an amazing, awesome (in the truest sense of the word) show and even though I have seen it 6 times now I am no where near tired of it. We saw the 2nd touring company and all involved were absolutely fabulous. Jennifer DiNoia gives Idina Menzel a run for her money, Hayley Potschun is adorably quirky and Nathan David Perlow is a fantastic singer (plus he is really hot an charming). I get why there are people who have seen it hundreds of times if I had the money to do that I totally would. I have debated before about whether this is my favorite show ( I often think I might like Next to Normal of Rent better) but I think as a whole when looking at the music as well as the visuals and book this is my favorite musical ever. What is everyone else's favorite?

I haven't seen it yet but I love the movie. I just sewed 3 dresses (2 for the main characters) for a local production in a couple of weeks. I can't wait. I am also working on costumes for a local high school's production of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown in Dec.

We are going to see Matilda!

Charitable website auctioned off tickets. We won the auction. Have to give them three dates that we're available, and they will send us tickets for one of those dates.

Excited.

I saw Matilda in July, and I was immediately in love. GREAT show with amazingly talented kids. I am returning to NYC in June with two friends, and we are seeing Hedwig and the Angry a inch with NPH and If/Then with Idina. SO excited!

Saw Pippin in July as well. Just fantastic!

They open Nov 17th. WOW- 7 shows a week??? I was the first one to buy my tickets and I have the whole front row for opening night then took 2nd row on the side for the other nights so this way others have a shot at front row! She is loving it, I have yet to see any of it. Normally with her other theatre group I am friends with the ladies that run it so I go in and hang out and see the show as it comes together-this one I could sit inside but I want to be surprised on opening night since she is so excited about it! She says the little kids they have to play Gavroch and Cosett are super!

Hey aprilgail2! Nearly a week out from opening night for your daughter! Things must be heating up there. We are winding down...17 shows done and 4 to go. I am pretty pooped... not gonna lie. I am ready to resume "normal" existence (like something other than cooking spaghetti or grabbing a deli chicken once again lol!) If you are interested in any photos of our production you can see them on our theatre's Facebook page... its Kelowna Actors Studio. The photos look pretty good I think. It's been a blast and I hope you daughter enjoys this production as much as I have. It's a memorable show to do, that's for sure! Take care and "break a leg" to your girl there! :cheer2:

New to this thread, going to see Newsies this Wednesday with my adult nephew, (the starving actor that supplements his income by working in restaurants). He loves when his Aunt travels to NYC to see plays with him.
The last one we saw together is Billy Elliot.

You will love Newsies!! So jealous. Saw it last October and would love another shot at it! Have fun! :yay:

Saw "Waiting For Godot" Sunday. Didn't like the play when I read it in college. Didn't like it now either. But loved Patrick Stewart and Ian McClellan in the play. Got their autographs after the show. And saw LeVar Burton by the stage door.

I'm seeing No Man's Land in a few weeks. I've heard that people generally don't like the play but love the actors in that one too. Are you planning to see it?
