The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

I believe it is based on the movie. I heard some of the music and very impressed. Of course Norbert Leo Butz could sing me the phone book and I would be impressed. I love that man!!!!

Yes it is based on a Tim Burton movie which was based on a book by Daniel Wallace. The music is really fabulous. I saw the show in Chicago and I was blown away at how good it was and of course Norbert Leo Butz was amazing. :cloud9:

We will find out this weekend what other acts she is in- she is hoping for One day more, At the end of the day and Master of the House

So any update on how the casting went for your daughter? Other than being an ...ahem... Lovely Lady what scenes does she do? Is she having fun??? :yay:

She is LOVING it! She came out of rehearsal tonight and said she is in lovely ladies, the Waltz scene, End of the day, do you hear the people sing, beggers, one day more and the epilogue so far. Its her favorite play and its with a different company than she usually works with so she is having a blast with it!

Just found out that London has a production of "The Bodyguard" going. Heather Headley played the Whitney Houston part and she just left the show this month.

That's wonderful... sounds like what i am doing except i am in Inkeepers scene (party on!), Drink with Me, Turning and NOT in the wedding waltz scene (singing offstage only. Probably know my dancing skills lol) The first act is pretty busy for us female ensemblers but not too much action in Act 2. Still loving it. Blocked the epilogue/finale last night. Wow the sound... Goosebumps galore for me and I am pretty sure there will be tears shed (by me I mean lol ) Thanks for the update!!

We just bought our tickets for the revivl of Les Miz . . .can't believe it's coming back to Broadway.

Tonight we saw a community theater production of Fiddler on the Roof. It's one of my favorite shows and I have a friend in the cast. Wonderful night.

Who did you purchase through? I've been looking for these!

TIA....

We saw The Trip to Bountiful yesterday, staring Cicely Tyson and Vanessa Williams. They were fantastic! It was such a simple story line, but so very well acted. It's closing in a few days as it has a limited run.

Does anyone know how the live showing of Sound of Music performance will work on Dec. 5? Will they be selling tickets? Will there be other "practice" performances open to the public?

So just wondering how things are going with your daughter's Les Mis production? Has she opened yet? We are opening this Wednesday!! Then we run for three weeks with 7 shows a week. Its busy but so worth it! I think we are nearly ready... some tech issues as per usual but problems seem to be getting fixed. I must say that although there are many fabulous scenes (anything at the barricade really) my fav by far is "A Little Fall Of Rain." Our Marius and Eponine are killing it. I'm a mess every time I see it.
"Don't you fret M'sieur Marius... I don't feel any pain..." Waahhhh!!!!
Hope your daughter is still having a blast!

They open Nov 17th. WOW- 7 shows a week??? I was the first one to buy my tickets and I have the whole front row for opening night then took 2nd row on the side for the other nights so this way others have a shot at front row! She is loving it, I have yet to see any of it. Normally with her other theatre group I am friends with the ladies that run it so I go in and hang out and see the show as it comes together-this one I could sit inside but I want to be surprised on opening night since she is so excited about it! She says the little kids they have to play Gavroch and Cosett are super!

Fabulous... glad to hear it!:banana::banana:Yes... 7 shows a week is a bit nuts. Normally it would only be 6 (Wed thru Sunday with a sat matinee too) but they threw in a Sunday matinee too this time. When I'm in a show my family knows that they don't really see me much but they are so supportive of it. I'm pretty lucky! Actually my whole family is involved in theatre (with the exception of my DS15 who tried it but didn't like it) so they know what its all about. My DH and DD14 are doing Shrek-The Musical this December, my DD14 is playing "Thing 1" in a children's production of The Cat In The Hat in Feb, DH and I are doing Company in March (we get to play the married couple Larry and Joanne... so excited!) and then in July my DS19 and DD14 will be in Fiddler on the Roof (he's ensemble and she's Chava). It's a pretty big year for us. Probably our busiest yet! What can I say... like probably the vast majority of people on this thread... theatre feeds my soul!!!!

We are going to see Matilda!

Charitable website auctioned off tickets. We won the auction. Have to give them three dates that we're available, and they will send us tickets for one of those dates.

Excited.

That was an awesome show- I wouldn't mind seeing that one again!
