We will find out this weekend what other acts she is in- she is hoping for One day more, At the end of the day and Master of the House

Greetings everyone! I have not posted in awhile but feel compelled to share my joy! Currently rehearsing a local production of Les Mis. I am in heaven!! I just love this music so much and to be able to sing those songs makes me giddy!! Man I love musical theatre!!!
That is all... :cloud9:

CONGRATULATIONS!! My daughter is involved in her first college production as a part of costume crew for Les Mis. She is SO excited, and we are thrilled to get to go see the show!! Enjoy your time with this magnificent piece of musical theatre!!

I found a bootleg copy of Next to Normal on youtube. I only made it through act 1. That show is so hard to get through. Amazing cast though. Marin Mazzie and her husband played the husband and wife.

I saw Next to Normal last year in Pittsburgh and last month in Chicago. It's fantastic--but so true it's painful. My professional background is in mental health, and it's pretty spot-on.

I was very impressed how they handled the mental health aspect. I have had a few family members suffer from varying degrees of mental health, so I am extra sensitive to it.

I get to see it TEN times LOL- I go to every show possible. They do have one show on a weekday during the day - she is missing school for it but I am not taking off work for it so I won't be seeing just that one this time around. I usually go to every production she is in- I even stand around on the set of tv shows/movies she is on and DVR them when they are on LOL.

Sometimes I feel weird being on here since I seem to have the exact opposite tastes as the majority of people here.

We first-acted Les Mis (left at intermission).

It's okay, I really don't like Once or Spring Awakening, which everyone else seems to love! ;)

To each his own, as my Mom used to say. My sister and cousin left Rent early on. First show they ever left. The noise level was killing them. And the story was depressing to them.

Don't feel bad. I like Les Mis, but I have yet to see a production of it I like. My grandma wanted to walk out of A Chorus Line, but she thought her friend liked the show. Turns out both were miserable! :lmao: Yeah guess which show of mine my grandma did NOT go to. :rolleyes1

Definitely to each their own. I absolutely loved Spring Awakening (bawled like a baby at times) but am not too keen on the music of Once. To be fair I have not seen the show, just own the cast recording but don't love it. I guess I'm not a huge fan of the Celtic vibe there. :)

The only show I hated was Cats! You couldn't pay me to see it again. I thought Les Miz was just ok, the first time I saw it. The 2nd time I loved it. Weirdly, I think seeing the movie helped that.
Not a fan of Phantom either.

Les Mis is my favorite musical. I've seen it 8 times on Broadway and once in London, and I can't wait to see it for the 10th time when it comes back to Broadway next year. A new commercial just came out for it! Yay!!!!

I loved the movie as well, I've seen that seven times! I have six different recordings of it too: the original London cast, the original Broadway cast, the complete symphonic recording, the 10th anniversary concert, the 2010 London cast, and the movie soundtrack. Plus I have the 10th anniversary concert on DVD, and the 25th anniversary concert and the movie on blu-ray.

Thank god I'm not obsessed or anything...

A kindred spirit!! My text ringtone is "One Day More." My older daughter, who likes musical theatre but isn't in love with it, says it's going to be a long two and a half weeks while we wait to leave for my younger's college. She asked how many times we would have to listen to it on the 10.5 hour drive. She also doesn't understand why we have to see the show Friday and Saturday night. Where did I go wrong??? :rotfl:
