The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Got tickets for ARGUENDO by The Elevator Repair Service, FUN HOME (a new musical) and Ethan Hawke in the Lincoln Center production if MACBETH.

Hopefully, I'll be buying tickets for BIG FISH in Oct, but that will have to wait until I return from WDW!

We are going to see big fish the first weekend in sept-no clue what it's about but the tickets were cheap so I figured we would give it a try.

Has anyone seen the tour of Godspell? It is playing here and one of the performances will be on my birthday.

I was wondering if it was worth giving a subtle hint to my husband to get me tickets. (In my household a subtle hint is saying "Hey honey, I've pulled up the tickets online, selected seats, and entered our payment information. Would you like to press enter to surprise me on my birthday? Oh and you don't even have to go to the show, I'll take DD")

Yes, I liked it very much.

I haven't, but I sure wish I could!! I have the soundtrack, and it's fantastic!!! My dd was in Godspell as a freashmen, so it's an extra special show to us, but the new soundtrack is the best I've heard!!

Hi everyone:wave2:

Thought I'd report on my 2 day trip to NYC last week with my dd. We saw Matilda on Tuesday evening -- my dd liked it a lot and I thought it was cute. On Wednesday night we saw First Date with Zachary Levi and Krysta Rodriguez, which I thought was really funny and would see again. Lastly, on Thursday night we saw Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike. My husband joined us for that one, and he liked it. My dd and I were just ok with it.

My dd loves to do stage door to get her playbill signed and I tell ya, Zachary Levi is just the nicest guy! He signed all the playbills, even asking -- anyone else have one and then, took individual pictures with anyone who wanted one -- and provided music to listen to (a boombox) while we waited! Best stage door experience ever :goodvibes

A friend of mine is in it, so it is definitely on my to-see list this fall :)

We saw this when Christian Borle was Black Stache and Rick Holmes was the father. Would love to see it again, now that Rick is doing that part -- I bet he is really good in it!

Decided on late last Monday night to see Cinderella on Tuesday and bought the tickets on Tuesday morning. Was not cheap but wanted the row we got and really enjoyed the show!! Hit up John's Pizzeria on 44th for pre show meal.

The Rodgers and Hammerstein music brought back so many memories of the 1965 Cinderella with Lesley Ann Warren and Stuart Damon. Really liked the prince in the current show...very funny and adorable!!

I hated Godspell- I only saw a local production of it though and it was just not my kind of show (only saw it because a friends son was in it)----- BUT- everyone I know that saw it on broadway RAVES about how great it was!

Isn't that the truth! I hated Phantom of the Opera, and didn't really care for The Lion King, although I did like the set design etc... The first act for me was a complete snooze and I could barely keep my eyes open.

I'm taking my kids to see Peter and the Star Catcher and The Fantasticks in a few weeks.

Loved phantom, lion king and Peter and the star catcher--- the fantasticks are at the top of my worst show ever list-what a snoozefest that was!

Uh oh.... We are seeing them both the same day, so at least I'll have a good nap before going to Peter and the Star Catcher.

Saw Big Fish today-didn't know what to expect but it was really good. People sobbing and crying-I didn't know anything about it so I had no idea it was so sad!

I saw it back in april and i loved it. I was one of those people crying at the end.

I am just getting home from watching Wicked. Wow! It was amazing!

Our season tickets were supposed to include The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. It has been replaced with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Looking forward to it.

Just saw Around the World in 80 Days tonight. Really enjoyed it. Won the tickets on Pandora.com. Small theatre but cast was very good and energetic, and really made the most out of one set environment.
Also kept story in line with Jules Verne theme whom I love. I think it was the smallest theatre I have ever seen something in but they really worked very hardtop give a good performance.
Would definitely recommend for families and I do not think it is ridiculously priced.
