my co-worker who is a theater NUT saw the final performance. He actually saw the show 14 times over the last 3 years! he aid it was wonderful and very emotional for him.
I was sad to have missed it but he said it was incredible. One day i will be able to be at a closing night for a show.

That's so cool that he got to go! I've seen
Billy Elliot 3 times: once in NY, and twice in London (we liked it so much in London that we went back the next night to see it again). It was such a great show.
I've been to two closing nights. The first was Andrew Lloyd Webber's
Aspects of Love, which closed in 1991. It was just a regular performance, the only difference was that the understudies joined in during the curtain calls.
The other closing I went to was for
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. That was a LOT of fun. Kristin Chenowith had just won the Tony for playing Sally the week before, so she got a ton of applause. Then Roger Bart (who also won a Tony the week before for playing Snoopy) appeared, but he didn't get quite as much applause as Kristin did, so when it ended he just said "That's it?!?!? and everyone cheered again.
'Snoopy' also did an encore when he finished singing "Suppertime", he ran back out and said "Thought you could get rid of me, could you?!" and finished off the song a second time. That was great.
The finale was sad though...they all sing "Happiness" and you could see everyone was tearing up at the end. The very last line is Lucy saying to Charlie Brown "You're a good man, Charlie Brown!" and she choked up saying it.
Such a great show. Still sad it closed so soon!
