The bride at every wedding, the corpse at every funeral....my mother in law!!!

We should be ashamed of our selves! I have a sister who lives in Orlando and for the past 2 trips we have sneaked in to WDW without visiting her. She is a vacationers nightmare. Why doesn't she just move to another less desireable location so that she is not ruining our favorite place in the world!
Uggh the guilt! :sad2: AHHHHH the peace and tranquility. :cloud9:

Guilt ...I wish my extended family was so considerate....seems like my house is the only hotel in Orlando...when we first moved down we got requests from friends of friends to stay with us... :rolleyes1

We were very lucky with our trip to WDW last year. We went with my in-laws and DH's sister and her family. We made an itinerary including ADRs and made sure everyone had a copy. We ate together once a day but other than that, we played it by ear. We made sure that no one was going to be offended if someone wanted to opt out of a planned activity or park. We spent some time together or with just grandma and grandpa. And yes, they did offer to sit while we went out to dinner. We were there 10 days and not once did we have a disagreement thanks to the understanding in laws I have. They understood that everyone needs their own space.

I've never been with my parents or my ILs. I feel for you all, but I'm also a little jealous that you have people who want to go to Disney with you.

My parents refuse to go with me. They can't afford to go and refuse to let me pay their way, partially because of 1) pride about not taking $, 2) they feel they can't keep up with their Disney-freak daughter and 3) they're afraid I'd end up having a bad trip. My ILs could afford to go--they travel all over the country and world (this week is Seattle, next planned trip is Israel). They're also in good enough shape to do so. But they have no interest in coming with DH and me. The bottom line is, neither set of parents "get Disney" and the fact that I'd like to share Disney with them doesn't seem to change their minds. If we want to see either set, we go where they are willing to go and do what they are willing to do. It's really the same thing that seems to happen with a lot of these trips--except I'm not in Disney.

I guess I shouldn't complain. Their disinterest in Disney would probably make for a painful trip--maybe even taint Disney for me. Still...I think, for me, the trade-off might be worth it, after the pain of the experience faded.

If I could clone my MIL I would be a millionaire, she is a gem. She is paying for a good portion of our trip in December (first time for our kids and a suprise!) and not once mentioned coming along. Actually she has never been to WDW and has no interest. I wouldn't mind her tagging along, she loves to babysit!

I feel for you, that sounds extremely unpleasant and while yes you want to feel appreciative sounds like she can suck the fun out of things!
