My mission, if I choose to accept it, is to turn DH into a Disney Zombie.
Players - me - 39ish
DH - 47 yo
Plan - 1 night at ASMU
2 nights at CSR
6 nights at Dolphin
Day 1 & 2, Sept 17 & 18
Left home at 6:30 pm for a marathon 20 hour drive to Georgia for personal business....then off to WDW!
A little background - DH hates to fly, so we drove. Upon our return I told him I will never, ever do this again unless I am feeble and cannot drag myself onto a plane.
DH has also said, probably 27 times over the last 2 weeks, "What are we going to do for 9 days at WDW? Aren't we going to get bored?"
Now, THAT is a stupid question.
Day 3 - Sept 19
Arrived in Orlando at noon, stopped at Publix for supplies, then checked into ASMU at 2:00. Our room was ready and everything went smoothly and quickly.
We were in Rock Inn which was about 90 miles from the food court area. Thank goodness we were only there for one night....I would have starved to death hiking back and forth. Our room had a great view of the back parking lot!
Seriously, ASMU is pure Disney. The theming is hilarious and the resort was sparking. Lots of youngsters and families. Since we are w/o kids, this resort is not really our cup of tea for an extended vacation, but perfect for the inexpensive "one nighter."
We immediately boarded a bus to Epcot to purchase our annual passes (I ordered them via internet as a will-call just before the prices went up) and get a quick dose of WDW magic. What we got was a big dose of RAIN.
The park felt practically empty. We walked on Spaceship Earth and made our way to WS. DH wanted Mexican food so he grabbed something at the outside cantina in Mexico. I said no thanks! We darted from country to country between rainstorms, had beer in Germany, a cookie at the Land, then returned via bus to ASMU to see the Survivor premier. It stopped raining right before we left the park. The wait for the bus was approximately 25 minutes - which turned out to be the longest wait of our stay.
I finished up the night doing laundry and watching kids cannonball each other in the pool.
Tomorrow - check into CSR!
