<center>:bounce: The harvest is starting. :bounce:

The bounty for today was 12 zucchini, 14 summer squash's, a bushel of green beans. a quarter bushel of flat italian beans, 2 hugh bunches of swiss chard, 10 cucumbers but no tomatoes. :( This is starting to get to me. I'm a good week away from picking tomatoes. I've picked a few cherry tomatoes here and there but nothing you can slice and make a BLT with.

I want a BLT with a garden tomato now!

My neighbors all came home to a surprise on their doorsteps today.

Sounds like you've got a plentiful garden. We have yet to get a "real" tomato out of our garden this year too. Just the cherry tomatoes which are delicious when you pick and eat them warm!! Yum!

We too have been overrun with the cherry tomatoes... but Saturday I picked and ate my first Brandywine tomatoe of the year. It was HUGE, it was reddish pink all the way through, meaty, and SWEET. One slice from the middle - overflowed the slices of bread. A couple of slices of peppered bacon, some mayo... and I was in heaven. Brandywines are the finest tomatoes. I cannot go a season without growing at least ONE bush of them.

The rest of the vegetable garden has been very bountiful. We have been eating Green and Red bell peppers and onions for weeks now. The lettuce was plentiful but has recently gone by. Carrots have just reached the optimum size for eating, and corn has been on the table almost every night for about two weeks.

YUMMY! :)

Dixie I am so jealous.

This has been a terrible year for tomatoes. While my plants are covered, with nice dark green tomatoes, I have yet to pick a red one. :(

There is one of the big boys just starting to change. :Pinkbounc Maybe with some luck I may get my BLT by this weekend. :Pinkbounc

The corn is a good 2 weeks away. Althought I have some fear for my corn. We have a family of raccoon. Mom, Dad and a lot of little ones. Who make their nightly raid on my birdfeeders. I'm sure once they get a whiff of the corn it may be history.

I will finally be picking peppers this week.

my flower beds and my veggies. I am so disgusted. I just want S _ _ _ t this little fellow.

He has eaten my cucumber plants from the bottom and left the tops and taken bites out of few peppers, he didn't touch the tomatoes yet. But, then he moved onto my flower beds and has eaten alot.

I give up for this year.

Laura

Yes I had my BLT (YUMMY) for supper saturday night with squash.

Sadly though it looks like I'll only be picking cherry tomatoes for another week. This is ridicules it's the middle of August and I've picked 1 tomato.

Even sadder its going to be September and I'll be picking a bushel a day. Grrrrr! I haven't jarred in years, but I may have to just to rationalize 48 tomato plants.

48 plants!!! :earseek: WOW!!

I've only picked two tomatoes so far.........from my.

I want to live near Mamu. Reading this thread made me hungry for tomatoes.

Sounds wonderful !!! Your garden must be huge. 48 tomatoe plants, yikes.

So far, our first peppers came the other day. Cherry tomatoes and the big tomatoes, cukes, pumpkins, carrots, squash and of course my herbies mmmm good.

My kids are already tired of BLT's though, lol
