~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

BTW, what's up with your training? Have you adopted my less-is-more philosophy?popcorn::
Jodi - I've actually given up running completely.

Who has the time? I've been trying to unlock the secret codes in Dan Brown's new book!

You know that "See your doctor after 4 hour" warning on the Viargra commercial? I waited 6!

I've found that eating deep fried Snickers bars and drinking Mojitos is more fun.

Good morning folks,

It's been a yucky week for me, really dragged down, hopefully I will get some energy soon. I had 18 planned for tomorrow, I already know I am going to bail on it, maybe move it to next Monday or further out and call it my last LR for the training.:confused3

Mike, Dh and I enjoyed your musings over coffee.:surfweb: I think you should get a Powergel on a IV drip.:thumbsup2

Chester, tell Tracy we are thinking about her and her mother. This must be a very difficult time for both of them.

Cindy, how is your training coming along? You have quite a line-up of races this Fall.

Hello to all!

Hubby is taking me out for lunch today so I better get all gussied up! :bride:

Mike
I'm waiting for the next installment. It's kind of like reading all the Sharpie quotes at the Marathon or the billboards for "South of the Border"

Colleen
Wow, a lunch date. I can't remember when we last went out on a lunch date. Just remember to see your Doctor after 4 hours.:rotfl:

Howard
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I've got a colonoscopy in the near future too, my next birthday is 5-0.:scared1:

Dave
I will truly miss you at Expedition Everest Challenge this year, in addition to Jodi, Spencer Cindy and Matt. When I first saw you last year I thought you were a Cast Member. Your costume was great. I guess that there will be no other BOTS at EEC this year. I was looking forward to what you might have come up with for ToT.

Working late again tonight. Missed Wednesdays 7 miler. Leaving for WDW in the Ark tomorrow for EEC. That is if I can fix the sticking front brakes in the morning. It may end up being a day trip instead of a weekend at Fort Wilderness. Tracy is going to Ft. Lauderdale for the weekend for a continuing education seminar and Miranda won't be coming over until Saturday afternoon because she has some soccer games to referee. Just me and the dogs.:drive::dogdance::dogdance:

Have a great weekend everyone!

Chester

Greetings & salutations, BOTS!

Mike - :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:....:idea:Um, can I borrow a couple of those excuses??? Seriously, oh-Boston-bound-one, what gives?

Chester - I'm bummed to be missing EEC...Spencer & I had a blast last year, but I didn't think it wise to take him out of school during his first few weeks as a freshman. :rolleyes:Who am I kidding, I just didn't have the $. Have a great time with the dogs & all & good luck with the brakes! BTW, don't believe it for a minute, Dave DID mean to lump you in with that "whoever else" quote! ;) Tell Tracy I'm sending good thoughts her way, as well as her mom.

Colleen - Feeling better? Do you train during the week @ all or just do LRs on the weekend? How was that noone...I mean, lunch?:rolleyes1.

Lou - :worship: Oh speedy one - there is no way in hel* I'll be running that LBI-beach-wind-in-your-face-the-whole-time race with you. Let alone 18 miles!:rotfl2: Sorry you got shut out of Philly.:headache:

Dave - How's the shin, bud? So, no ToT...what's on the fall schedule then?

Howard - A colonoscopy? EWW! Glad that the knee issue seems to have a solution on the horizon. Do you go for massages at all? I think that would really help.

Decided not to do a 1/2 this weekend. My step-daughter Skye is coming home from college tomorrow (it's her birthday) & it would be the right thing to do to be here on Sat. a.m. as a "family". Just call me Carol Brady . BTW, has anyone seen that the Brady Bunch is on TV Land this week?? I'm SO psyched. First "Little House.." now this!

Supposed to run 18 this Sat. Will do 15 or 16...it's supposed to me nice & cool :thumbsup2.

Jodi~ Yes, it will be coming up soon. I scheduled it for mid-October between the Race for the Taste 10K and Marine Corps. The prep sounds like it'll add new dimensions to the word heinous. The stress test is scheduled for a bit earlier in the month.

Tomorrow at 12:30 pm I am interviewing for a newly created position at my place of employment. It is a Vice President of Administrative Services position. I am being interviewed by the President/CEO, Human Resources Director, the Executive Board Chair, Immed. Past Chair and two Attorneys both on the Executive Committee. One is in-house counsel for DuPont, the other heads up Northern Trust Co. of Delaware. All heavy hitters in their own right. If I can make it through the interview, perhaps I can get a waive through for the stress test. Wish me luck! Oh yes, please don't mention it on Facebook (Mike~ You are good on this already) some of my competition doesn't know and I'd rather not broadcast it beforehand.

No running for me until Saturday. I am trying to see how the other half (read "Jodi") lives. It will be a medium range run with a lot of stretching before, during and after. There may be some ice thrown in too at the end. I am pulling out all the stops. I am doing some XT, I'm splitting wood for fall/winter use in our fireplace.

Jodi~ The Carol Brady comment had me rollin' :rotfl::rotfl2::laughing:

Happy Friday! TGIF!!!

Colleen - How do you say "Hubba-Habba" in Canadian?

Chester - Brakes? You don't need no stinkin' brakes! Have fun this weekend.

Howard - Colonoscopy prep is the ultimate Jodi-stop! Be sure to smile for the pictures.

Good luck on the interview! I'm sure you'll do great. One ice breaker I've always found valuable: When you first enter the room pick out the highest ranking top dog and say "I was just with your mistress/wife/daughter (as appropriate) . She says hi!" They love that!

Jodi - I actually have been running, to the tune of about 48 miles last week. Unfortunately, only about half of them were of any quality. :confused3

See ya!

DaveI was looking forward to what you might have come up with for ToT.
I did have an idea Chester, two words Rod... Serling...

Dave - How's the shin, bud? So, no ToT...what's on the fall schedule then?
The shin is adequate... I've got nothin' on the fall schedule. A big zippo... I haven't run a race since the Disney Half in January.

Good Morning Everyone: OK, now that I'm woken up a little bit, I wanted to give a proper post, and not just respond to the comments about me.

Chester- You and Miranda have fun this weekend at the Expedition Everest Challenge. I can't wait to hear about it. I'm curious if anything is different this year compared to last. Please give my best to Tracy, I'm wishing all the best for her mother and hope she's comforable. When do you turn the big 5-0 anyway?

Howard- Good luck with your interview. That sounds huge! I'm sure you will knock their socks off. Also good luck with the upcoming doctor's appointments. Hope your knee starts improving. All my best to Cam!

Mike- I was loving your stream of consciousness this week. Did you really run 48 miles this week. Wow. I'm in awe.

Jodi- I'm sure your step-daughter is so looking forward to having quality family time. I can just picture you both standing side by side in the kitchen whipping up a pie for Bruce. Good luck with your 18 this weekend.

Colleen- I hope your energy level is picking back up. Hope you had a fun lunch with your hubby. Good luck with your run this weekend.

Hey Lou- Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. You must be getting excited about Michael Vick's upcoming appearance in this week's Eagles game.

Cindy and Matt- are you all back from Arizona? I hope everything went as well as it could.

Hello Jen and Butch- I saw a couple pictures of you all in the PDR on FB. Looks like it was a great day. What do you all have coming up next?

Hi Sara :wave2:

Hi CindyLou :wave2:

Hi Judy :wave2: if you're lurking out there.

Oh, I forgot to talk about my training. I've run 3x this week so far. I did 4 miles yesterday in 37 min. My left lower leg is sore, but I'm taking alleve and icing it. I'll rest it today, and get back out there tomorrow.

Colleen
Wow, a lunch date. I can't remember when we last went out on a lunch date. Just remember to see your Doctor after 4 hours.:rotfl:

Chester

:rotfl:Wow! I WISH my lunch date was...well....as active as you all assumed it was. The wild side :jumping1: came out in me when I ordered french fries to go with my Buffalo Chicken Burger.

Jodi! You're a stepmother? Me too! Although, not exactly the Carol Brady type. :headache:

Now, if TVLand would just bring back The Love Boat! :yay:

Howard, I haven't said a word but I am wondering, since you are posting on FB, are you done already? How'd it go???? popcorn::

Judy - Bring your raincoat on Sunday to that 5k!;). Yeah, I'm a step-mom....:rolleyes1:stir:. Poor kids. The old Friday night line up on TVLand would be great! Dukes of Hazard, Love Boat, Fantasy Island. Wait, did I just date myself????

Colleen - Any "luncheons" today? popcorn::

Howard - Yeah, how'd it go????popcorn::

Dave - Rod Serling costume would've been worth flying down to see. Will you consider wearing a Goofy costume in Jan?popcorn:: How 'bout a tu-tu or something princess:?

Mike - 48 miles? :worship:. That's more than I've run this MONTH! No, really!:rotfl:.

Fueling up now for tomorrow's run :lmao:. OK, I'm just eating!

:rotfl:Wow! I WISH my lunch date was...well....as active as you all assumed it was.
... she said, defying the universally accepted fact that the female is the rate limiting step in the process.

Wait, did I just date myself????
Are we dredging up that whole self massage thing again?

Dave - Is there anything local that you could run this fall?

I ran 20 miles this morning. I set off not exactly feeling at the top of my game and my pace reflected it. After being forced to walk over 2 miles to make it to a bathroom without a heinous soiling and 1 other Jodi-stop my run took so long that Kathy actually came looking for me. Isn't she sweet!

Howard, I haven't said a word but I am wondering, since you are posting on FB, are you done already? How'd it go???? popcorn::

Hi, the interview lasted about 55 minutes total. I was pretty nervous in the final minutes leading up to it. I am not sure why. I knew all of the people in the room, I work with them all fairly often and communicate with them pretty regularly. The CEO had a list of questions that he was asking all the candidates to keep things uniform and to get like (or unlike) responses from everyone. I thought the questions were fair, some required some quick thinking though. I used a bit of humor during the interview which seemed to set a good tone, I had them all laughing once or twice. :lmao:

Overall, I believe I was able to answer all of their questions effectively and give them the answers they were looking for. I was surprised that all of the people in the room didn't ask me individual questions. Many had follow up questions from what the CEO asked. When things broke up and I was leaving, I shook everyone's hand and the last person I spoke with on the way out was the HR Director. She said I did a great job.

Later in the afternoon, the CEO came to visit me in my office. He asked me how I thought the interview went. I told him that I could ask him the same question. He led me to believe that I did a good job during the interview and answered the questions appropriately. He said everything was great except one thing. I should have been a bit more animated. He's mentioned this to me in the past. I put on an all business front in business (when appropriate). He'd like me to get a bit more fired up and animated from time to time.

If that's the only thing he commented on, I think I did very well overall. He mentioned that next Wednesday they'd be interviewing additional candidates for the position. I am not sure about the numbers but I can assume that there are probably 7 or 8 candidates that they are talking to for this position.

I'll keep you all posted. I'd like to keep this off of Facebook until I know it is in the bag (or not). I have a lot of co-workers on there who would love to feed the rumor mill.

I will be getting some stretching, XT and running in this weekend. Cam is in Florida as of about an hour ago. She will be in Saint Augustine through Monday with our friend Marie.

Have a great weekend!

:grouphug:

Howard

All about me post!:snooty:

Ran 16 miles this a.m. & it felt great (only 1 JodiStop - managed to find a portapotty on the Wesleyan campus, phew). My last 2 miles were sub 9, which is like Olympic pace for me. Overall it was a little under 10mms. That's it for me & LRs, I'll run the Hartford 1/2 on the 10/10 @ race pace & that'll be it for "training".

Howard - See now that's werid, I'm always told I'm a bit TOO animated during interviews & should be more business-like :rotfl:. Good luck!

Mike - Nice job on the 20, dude! Who cares if it sucked, it's in the bag :thumbsup2. How sweet Kathy came looking for you. When I walk in from a LR Bruce always says to me, "I was starting to get worried" :lmao:. So far that worrisome state hasn't gotten him off the couch & into a car.:confused3:rotfl2: I guess he figures "I pity the fool...".

... she said, defying the universally accepted fact that the female is the rate limiting step in the process.

Um, yeah, I guess you are right!:lmao:

Mike, don't sweat the 20 miles, you know you weren't feelin' it when you first went out, you put the miles in and that is what matters, you can do it, yes you can...EVERYBODY NOW...Three cheers for Mike! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:yeah, yeah, your next 20 will be better, 7 more weeks, lots of time left. (syrupy enough for you?)

Jodi, 16 miles, is that all? Slacker.:upsidedow

DH ran 18 miles today, he said he felt pretty good, consistent all the way throughout the run. Good job honey!!

Jodi, no more long runs before NYC? You know there may be a chance I will pass you on the course around mile 22,:rolleyes1 hee hee.

Chester, good luck at EE this weekend! You'll do GREAT!!!!!!!!! I am sure it will be TONS of fun.

As for me, 5 miles yesterday and maybe 17 tomorrow. We will see how the first 5 feel.

you can do it, yes you can...EVERYBODY NOW...Three cheers for Mike! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:yeah, yeah, your next 20 will be better, 7 more weeks, lots of time left. (syrupy enough for you?)
Funny girl! Something tells me Jeff must have said something about me not feeling real confident right now.

Good luck with your 17. Tell Jeff I said nice job on his 18 miles.

Jodi - Way to go, finishing strong.

Howard - The interview sounds like it went well. I hope it works out for you.
