~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

OH YEAH!!

Did I mention that I signed up for a local 1/2 on May 31? Yep, the "Iron Horse 1/2 Marathon". The medal looks really cool, so...you know.

Jodi - Congrats on signing up for the 1/2:banana: I'll be thinking of you as I'm running RNR:eek: that day!!! It's awesome about the fundraising and glad you're planning on making a serious:confused3 effort at the training:laughing: We leave for SD on 5/23:hippie: and will be back on 6/1.

Dave - Welcome back and SO cool about the impromptu cruise:yay: Glad you had an awesome time and loved the pics:thumbsup2

Lou - Can't wait to see if you give the 5k a try:goodvibes Sorry about the allergies:hug:

Matt - Great job on the 1/2:worship:. The crepes sound heavenly. It looks like you're off to a great start with the Baltimore training:woohoo:

Cindy - Have you shaken off the 1/2 yet? Feeling okaypopcorn::?

Howard - Hoping you had a spectacular dinner with Chester last night:cloud9:. Have a safe trip home and can't wait for the report on the removal of the air cast:yay:

Colleen - Lauren's a lucky girl:love: and the pics from the Atlanta birthday trip were great:thumbsup2 Glad you had a great time and I do agree with Jodi about the NYC AG trip being an order.

Mike - popcorn:: You okay?! Don't make us check with Kathy over on FBpopcorn::.

Can I say I'm in taper:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:? Way too much LTO, some good some bad, to deal with these days so I'm not remotely pondering SD RNR at this point in time:rolleyes1. It'll be a great day and the 26.2 will get done, one way or the other:hippie:. Have a great weekend guys:grouphug:

Good morning.

Quick post for now, I'll post more over the weekend. Somewhat of a busy week at work (which is much better than last week when I had nothing to do).

Heading out for 4 miles. I've done a few 4 milers since the half, I'll try to get in a longer run this weekend.

Dave - Welcome Back!! I would love to hear more about the cruise.

Hey BOts,

I should have time to post this weekend!!:thumbsup2 Just finished work for the day and I have a relatively free weekend so I will be back to post, I also have one more week of work so after that WATCH OUT!!:dance3:

Off to do a few errands today, but I promise I will be back!!

Hey Everyone: I'm still trying to catch up after the cruise. I posted a blog about the Disney Historian we saw on the cruise. I wasn't allowed to go into too many specifics because his information is proprietary to Disney.

http://www.disunplugged.com/

He will be presenting a seminar on the web [a webinar] on Monday evening if you're interested in hearing the presentation. It's a little pricey, but if you're interested he's well worth it.

Good morning BOTS,

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. It has been nice at this end, yesterday we went for a bike ride, baked cookies, grilled out, just a nice slow pace at home. It was awesome!

I am really waiting for school to be over, but I haven't finalized a lot of my summer plans yet. We did decide to book a DIsney cruise for August. One of my friend's got a 'Kids sail Free' promo, so we are cruising the Eastern Carib on August 1st with them, followed by a few days at the Polynesian!:yay::yay::cheer2: I just booked airfare yesterday so that is definitely in place, other than that, nothing is planned, no camps, no Canada trip, no day trips, I better get on it!!

Dave, I still need to listen to the Podcast. That is SO cool!

Cindy, I hope you can get your longer run in this weekend. Is it really heating up up there in DC?

Sara, when do you for San Diego? Wow, it really crept up on us.

JOdi, INteresting comments about the teacher and private school, I am always waffling between sending my kids to private vs. public. I wish I knew which was right for my kids. :confused3 They have always been in public school, but I always wonder. How big is the school Spence will go to next year?

Howard, hope you had a nice business trip. Cool pictures on FB. (Oops Mike Sorry.)

Speaking of Mike, please come back to us. The other social network , that shall not be named, is not where you belong. :grouphug: I hope your sweet ones princess:princess:are doing better this weekend.

Howie - AKA, Gimpy. How are you, bud? How are you making out, being out of town & air-casting?? Have you had dinner with Chester & Tracy yet? How're you feelin'?

Chester - OK spill it...how hard did you laugh on the inside when you saw Howard's aircast :lmao:?

Hello all! I got back into town yesterday around 6 PM and arrived to a house full of WISHers...No BOTs though. :confused3 Charlie, Judy, Craig, Martha, Anne and Pat (and Patti) were all here to run some portion of the Delaware Marathon weekend events. Anne, Pat and Patti all completed the Delaware Half Marathon today. Cam attempted it, but pulled herself out of the race due to a hip issue/pain. Martha, Judy, Charlie and Craig (in that order) ran the Delaware Marathon Relay. They all did well. I think Craig ran his 6.55 mile distance in 53 minutes and Charlie in 57 minutes.

I cheered from the cold, wet sidelines wearing my aircast. :rolleyes1

I did manage to have a nice dinner with Chester, Tracy and their daughter, Miranda, on Thursday. They picked my up at the hotel and took me about 4 or 5 miles to a nice seafood/steak restaurant. It was raining and we almost lost power twice, but things worked out well. The visit was short, but they drove over an hour each way to see me (that is friendship!). Or they all really just wanted to see my aircast for a good chuckle. I posted a photo from our dinner on my Facebook page (sorry Mike). I do not know how to post photos here, never have.

By the way, I wasn't wearing the aircast when I went out to dinner. I had been attending a special reception for the outgoing President of ADRP and I wanted to be presentable. I "tested my foot out" two days for a couple of hours. It is still healing. That I know.

The conference in St. Pete, Florida was really enjoyable. I met a lot of people from all over the world and made some lasting friendships.

I see the Podiatrist on Tuesday morning. I will be honest with him and will await his counsel. I would think he'd keep me in it for a while longer. At this point, I am not sure if my foot discomfort is from the injury, the aircast or the lack of my foot getting any exercise (atrophy?). I do know that the use of the airacst has re-introduced the plantar faciitus a bit which I'll have to address after the aircast comes off.

I am regiastered for the Spring Lake 5 in Spring Lake, New Jersey this coming weekend. I have run it 4 or 5 times in the past. I am hoping to "WALK" it this coming Saturday with Cam.

I am totally exhausted and need to clean up and head on to bed. Have a wonderful week.

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

"A good film is when the price of the dinner, the theatre admission and the babysitter were worth it." ~Alfred Hitchcock

By now, most of you have figured out I like movies. A lot. Perhaps an unhealthy amount. Nevertheless, I think it's fun to talk about movies, especially now that the summer season has started. Wolverine has been released, so has Star Trek, with many more big blockbusters soon to come.

So this week's mixer topic is, predictably enough, summer movies! The start of the mixer, posted on the 'Ohana thread, is here.

What summer movies are you looking most forward to, and why? Also, how do you like your summer movies?

Feel free to talk about how you choose your flicks: based on directors, your favorite movie star, a beloved genre? And what is your ideal movie experience? Midnight movies or matinees? Chain theaters or independents? Drive-ins? What about the movie-going extras? With or without snacks? Buttered popcorn or chocolate?

Jodi - I need to sit down and figure out the fall race schedule. I will likely run Baltimore but I need to check with the boss (Nicole). I caught a lot of flack for ruining the spring weekends with all my races and not checking with the schedule. It would be easy if I wasn't pretty much unavailable during the weeks because of this business. I'll get it figured out. Nice job getting out there early in the AM. I think that's the best time to run but what do I know?

Sara - San Diego is an awesome place so 26.2 walking would be a great time. Doing anything in SD is a good time.

Cindy - Always good to be busy.

Mike - Love your MySpace page. But I agree with Colleen that you really don't belong there. FB is for us mature adults.

Dave - Enjoyed your cruise pics on FB. Assuming my business continues to grow I'll have to plan for a cruise in late 2010. Looks like an awesome time.

Colleen - Isn't it great to just kick back and enjoy a weekend? I'm with you in that I'm ready for school to be finished. Where did the year go? I feel like we just got them on the bus for the first day.

Howard - Sounds like a great trip to FL. Sorry about Cam pulling out of the DE Marathon. I forgot that was this weekend. If I were you I would forget about the NJ race. No need to re-injure the foot.

Hey everyone else!

For those not on FB, I got in 12 miles (8:49 mpm pace) yesterday morning at 7AM in the rain. I actually enjoyed the run and the peace and quiet of running on a Sunday morning. I am kind of dragging today for some reason. Need to get motiviated for the week. The weekends go by WAY to fast.

Hi guys:grouphug:

Michael - Miss you terribly and please don't leave us:sad1:. Twitter:lmao:

Hate being a Debbie Downer but what I thought I was dealing with and making right with turned out to be something that far exceeded my wildest imagination and has me really hanging by a thread these days so I will admit to having to lay low for a bit. My reality has turned into something I never thought possible and I can't see straight nor say what's for real these days. I do  you all dearly and will post again once I have regained some sense of stability. I am still going to SD and will at least lurk here or over on the "other" site. Definitely will post a race report once I'm back:thumbsup2.

Lots of love and hugs Sara . I'm sorry to hear things are hard for you right now. Hang in there. We're here for you.

DUUUUUDES!!

What is UP with our little community, here?? Where the heck IS everyone? That FB thing is running amock with our thread, peeps!

Sara - If you need to talk, we're all here (except for Mike). Hang in there, it'll get better.:grouphug:

Dave - I'll check out your MB Blog! Sounds like you really had a blast! I'm SO glad you were able to go on the cruise. Did Pete tell you I said "hi"?

Howeird - Too cool about your dinner with the Scott Family. I wouldn't have driven that far to have dinner with my MOM!:rotfl2:

Lou - That's a great job with your 12!! Haven't done that in a looong time. But am running a 1/2 next weekend ; that should be interesting!

Mike -

Cindy - Still on that conference call? Running at all?

Colleen - How's Lauren doing? Pollen still taking its toll down there? Bruce is miserable! I mean, he's always miserable, but this time he's using the pollen as an excuse ;):lmao:

Chester - How 'bout coming up to CT for lunch next week?:rolleyes1

ME? I've been runnin' & stuff. Taking care of Sparky the foster dog :confused3:rolleyes: and trying to be nice to people.

Hi guys!

The cool people on Facebook already know this (including Kathy) but I thought I'd post this here for my other, less connected friend(s).

My visit to the podiatrist resulted in good news this morning. He said to take off the aircast and go back to normal shoes. He said to take it easy over the next two weeks but that I could resume briskly walking and that a golf tournament this wek should be fine. He said that I will most likely feel some rumbling of discomfort as the foot continues to heal and the foot learns to be used again. I am also fighting a bit of plantar faciitus that resulted from the aircast use. I will work on that in a few days. Also, I am cleared to WALK (read W-A-L-K) a 5 miler in New Jersey this weekend. I will walk it and enjoy the heck out of it. I don't think I am in shape enought to run it anyway.

Have a great Tuesday!

:grouphug:

Howard

I guess I said last week that I would post over the weekend and then never did. Sorry.

I had a much busier (in a good way) weekend than expected and now things at work are much more difficult (in a bad way) than expected.

Didn't run at all over the weekend, but did run 4 yesterday. Matt is doing much, much better than that.

We are headed to NYC this weekend!

Calling all bots!

Howard: I did read your news on facebook. I'm glad your foot is healing nicely. Just make sure not to jump back into it again too quickly. You have to run Baltimore this fall with the rest of us!

Jodi: Good luck on the half this weekend. For kicks, you should try Cindy's favorite pre-race meal of BBQ meat + beer. Carbs are for sissies.

Dave: The cruise pictures you posted look really cool. I wish I was on a cruise right now instead of sitting at work. The muddy buddy looked fun also. I think the marines have a similar race somewhere in VA. I'll have to look into doing it in the future.

As for me, well I'm still working on my advanced marathoning training plan for Baltimore. I've had to mix up the schedules a bit and I skipped my long run this weekend, but at least I'm running regularly again. I think in the last week or so my schedule has been:

Tues: 4 miles
Weds: 8 miles
Friday: 8 miles
Saturday: 4 miles
Monday: 12 miles
Tuesday: 7 miles
Wednesday: 5 miles

My half is next weekend & try the recommended diet

That means you can do a "test run" of the diet this weekend.
