~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hey Bots!

Back from my half with good news. I finally broke 2 hours...um, with about 30 seconds to spare :scared1:. I'm pretty pleased, though, as this was the hilliest piece of crap that I've ever run! Thought I was gonna $hit the bed @ around mile 8, but the gu kicked in & there ya have it. Oh yeah, forgot the Garmin, too. That, plus the lack of mile markers made it kinda difficult for my brain. While running up a hill I asked a Garmin-donned fellow where we were @ & the reply was "10.84 miles & 1:38". DOH, I thought, I may be able to pull this off!

Thanks for all the well-wishes leading up to this :grouphug:.

Quiet day on the boards, here. Where is everyone, Facebook?:laughing:

Jodi - NICE JOB!!!!!!! :banana: Under 2 hours and no Garmin. You were like Luke Skywalker when he turned off his computer and blew up the Death Star. Way to go!

I've been completely out of commission the past 3 days. I had oral surgery on Friday morning and it has been killing me all weekend. :sick: I had to get a dental implant to replace a tooth that broke about six months ago. Picture someone slicing open your gums and drilling a bolt into your jaw. :scared1: I was actually okay (relatively speaking) on Friday but for some reason today is the worst. I look like I have a wad of chewing tobacco in my mouth. I have been taking Motrins every 4 hours to dull the pain.

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

The mixer starts here...

Variety is the spice of life, so they say. (But don't ask me who they are, although I suspect they work for McCormick. :confused3) With that in mind, this week's mixer question is:

What types of XT do you like to do, and why? What are your old favorites and new discoveries? What kind of XT would you like to try?

Anecdotes and pictures are welcomed. I think we'd really like to hear about the benefits of your XT--physical, mental, social. Does it create a stronger core or more flexibility? Does it help you de-stress? Is it something you enjoy with your kids, partner, friends? It might also be helpful to know how you work XT within your walking/running schedule.

Extra points for XT activities that are unusual or have funny names or rituals. As determined by popular vote. And in case you're wondering, those points have no monetary value whatsoever. (I'll make up other disclaimers as I think of them.)

Lou

:rotfl::lmao:

Yeah, Jodi, way to go girl!!

Lou, ouch, get feeling better soon.

Jodi - Way to go!! I knew you could do it. 30 seconds to spare? No problem. Just think what you can do on some flatter course somewhere.

And now that we're done with the most deserved pleasantries: How the hell do you forget your Garmin?? Shoes, chip (or D-tag), Garmin. Everything else is optional.

Lou - Here's hoping the mouth feels better soon. Will you now set off the x-ray machine at the airport?

Jodi- WTG!!! That's AWESOME! :cool1::thumbsup2

Lou- Love the Star Wars reference. Hope your mouth heals quickly.

OK, I'm back from Cali, and getting back into the family routine. I have a little bit of jet lag/tiredness from my red eye flight home yesterday. I didn't run one step while I was gone. So it's time to get back on the treadmill today. Seriously, I'm going to use the TM.

Hi all. Quick post.

I've been away from the computer all weekend because we have guests staying with us. No running but we did a TON of walking.

Jodi :cool1:Congrats! Awesome job. I knew you could do it.

Lou - I hope you are feeling better!

Lou - Here's hoping the mouth feels better soon. Will you now set off the x-ray machine at the airport?

Mike - Good question. I am more concerned about lightning strikes today. I got the warning email below from my County's emergency management office this morning...

The National Weather Service has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Gloucester County. Residents should prepare for cloud to ground lightning, large/small hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain that may flood low lying areas.

Lou - OOWWWW!:headache::sick: I hope you feel better soon, dude. Watch that lightning!:rotfl:

Thanks for the kudos, Bots :grouphug:. I actually had 36 seconds to spare on that 2-hour mark. That's much better than 30 seconds :rolleyes:.

Jodi - :worship::worship: WTG woman!! I kind of agree with Mike, how on earth did you forget your Garmin:eek:. Looks like it all turned out for the best:cheer2:

Lou - I hope you feel better real soon:wizard: That can't be a fun time at all and glad it's behind you:hug:

Dave - Glad you're home safe & sound:thumbsup2 Any thoughts on doing the Boilermaker this yearpopcorn::? I could most likely hitch a ride with some of my running club members.

Everyone else - :grouphug:

I had to work a Sports and Fitness Expo for my running club this past weekend which was a lot of fun:yay:. I also managed an abbreviated LR with a 10:09 avg page which was exactly what I needed to believe I can eek out 26.2 at the end of next month:rolleyes1 Doing more running than walking these days which is a huge boost for my mental health:hippie: Have a great week guys:banana:.

:flower3: Thanks, Sara. Glad you were able to get a big 'ol run in. :thumbsup2 You'll be fine in San Diego. I'm SO jealous!:upsidedow

Hey Bots;

Did anyone see that the RockNRoll Marathon series is doing an Inaugural R&R Half in Chicago on August 2nd?:rolleyes1. The Inaugural RNR in Seattle has been taunting me, but this Chicago thing is much more do-able. Thoughts????popcorn::

Jodi~ CONGRATULATIONS!!! :cool1::banana: :woohoo: :yay: :goodvibes: :worship: Leading up to my PDR run last fall, my PR was 1:59:37 on the heinous Caesar Rodney Allen Ripey Half course. So, hearing of the hills you encountered, that is a great time.. especially running "free" without your Garmin. I am aptly inspired by your efforts!

Lou~ So sorry to hear about your oral pain and suffering. I hope the Motrin/Advil/Extra Strength Tylenol/Aspirin help. Here is some pixie dust to help. pixiedust:

I went to the YMCA tonight and biked 6.3 miles in 23:08 (3:40 per mile pace!) which is a record on the "q u i c k s i l v e r" course. My previous best was 24:41 (twice). I also cross-trained on the elliptical for 1.5 miles. My foot was whispering to me and said I should take a powder, so I did. No pain, but beginning to become unhappy. I know my limitations.

As some of you that frequent Facebook may know :rolleyes1, I signed up for the Delaware Half Marathon on May 17. I didn't think I could prepare well enough to run the marathon and it didn't work out for a relay team with other WISHers this year. I am hoping that my foot will heal and I can seriously ramp up to run it. I also brought home the application for the Broad Street 10 Miler tonight from the YMCA. The race is on May 3. I am not sure if I'll be ready, but I am hoping. The fee went up as of April 1, so I can wait it out to see if my foot will cooperate. I'd love to run it if I can.

Hi to Cindy, Matt, Chester, Mike, Kathy, Bruce, Debra, Dood, Jen, Sara, Dave, Colleen, and the rest of those living in good ole Botsville! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I am on business in Chicago 8/11-8/12 so I actually called them a while back for a date hoping it would coincide with my trip:confused3 I'm obviously a week late:rolleyes1 RNR bought the Chicago Distance Classic from John Bingham Racing and I know historically WISH'ers have done that race in the past due to it being a part of the Bingham Racing Series. If you do decide to go, I did get a roundtrip nonstop flight in and out of Chicago recently for under $200 for my mid-August trip:yay: so it may be something to consider.

Howard - Glad you know your limitations and that you've signed up for a half in the near future:cheer2:

Good Morning Everyone: I actually ran yesterday! Not much, just a couple miles on the TM, but at least it was something.

Sara- Good to see you. You know, I forgot about the Boilermaker. I may be able to do that this year. Let me check out the dates. Great job getting the LR in.

Jodi- As much as I would like to do Chicago, that's the same weekend we're planning our summer vacation in Williamsburg, VA.

Howard- Great job keeping up your workouts on the bike. Best of luck with your training for the Delaware Half.

Lou- I hope your mouth is healing.

Hi Cindy :wave2:, seems like running for both of us has fallen off since I left DC. I need to get back at it this week.

Mike- What are you up to these days? When is your next race?

Hi Colleen :wave2: I just noticed on FB that today is your birthday. Happy Birthday Colleen!!!

Happy Birthday DKP!

Where's Chester? How are you doing buddy? Is everything OK with your job?

Jodi: I'll add a late congrats on the awesome time and with 36 whole seconds to spare :thumbsup2

Howard: Great that you are slowly getting back out there but being smart about it. Join us for Broad Street, no ugly hills in that one :cool2:

Thanks again, guys, for all your support & kudos :grouphug:

Jen - So is Broad St. next up for you & Butch? Do I recall you saying that you may attend a fall running event @ Disney?:confused:

Howard - I'm digging your easy re-entry & your registration for the Deleware 1/2!:banana: From the sound of your gym workouts, it doesn't appear that you'll have lost any fitness when you head back to the streets!

Dave - Any news from Pittsburgh yet?popcorn:: Decided on any fall Disney races or will you be sitting those out?

Mike - Recovered from that wind-blown run yet? What's next up for you?

Cindy - Where are you? Out running?

Lou - How're you feelin', buddy?:sick:

Sara - Yeah, that Chicago thing looks mighty tempting!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLLEEN!!!! you old bag!!:rotfl: Whad'ya get?popcorn:::cheer2:

So now that I did what I set out to for the 1/2 marathon time, I'm thinking I should be lookin' for a full sometime soon. Any suggestions??

Mike- What are you up to these days? When is your next race?
Dave - 16 on Saturday, 8 yesterday (including 1.5 with DD12:thumbsup2), and 7.5 tempo miles today. I'm just trying to keep semi-ready for the Country Music Marathon in 2 weeks.

Good job on the TM run. Any news on Pittsburgh yet?

Colleen - :bday::bday:party:

Jodi - Pick a full, any full. CMM, Delaware, San Diego. All will have Bots.

Howard - I haven't looked. When in MCM registration?
