Colleen, I just wanted to let you know that this number wasn't working for me when I tried to book my cruise. Could you give me a different number?

Just booked the Poly for Goofy next year. Thanks Colleen! :thumbsup2

Just signed up for the Caesar Rodney 1/2. Paid $35 to run up and down hills in Wilmington in bone chilling cold weather. Should be a lot of fun! Howard, we'll have to game plan where and when to meet. Last year I came up with a secret hiding place to hang out before the race because there was no way I was standing outside in the cold waiting for the start.

Ran 4 miles outside today. Quite a challenge as I dodged patches of black ice and ran through frozen snow at times . I just wasn't in any mood to run on the TM.

Looking forward to Goofy 2010 already. Nicole turns 40 that Saturday and I already have some family coming out that signed up for the 1/2. Too bad it's a year away.

That's all folks!

Lou, I think your son has logged into your account!

She's right! Louie, what are you doing in here!

Actually, years of working as a consultant for the City of Wilmington allowed me to get familiar with the area around downtown Wilmington. You learn to find those really nice and clean bathrooms before your meetings. Came in handy when I got to the race last year and was able to bypass the porta potties for a nice hotel lobby a few blocks from the start. We didn't have that luxury in Philly or I would have found us a secret hiding place before the marathon.

Wow, Lou, that is exciting to have family participating at WDW next year. I am glad I could help you out with the hotel, add a room for the relatives too, on me!:thumbsup2

Ah thanks Colleen...that's awesome! Canadians are the best!

Lou~ Cam's office is in the Citizen's Bank Building at 919 N. Market. Her office overlooks Rodney Square (across the street from the Library). We are definitely hooked up for a warm almost penthouse view of the crowds below and warmth, and clean restrooms before the event. I'll just have to suck up to her so that she comes to scream team us, she has the pass card and keys. :thumbsup2

Colleen~
You are so generous to give out your Visa information. ::yes::

So what on earth did that one lone cat do to be relegated outdoors?:smokin:

Colleen
Kind of a long story. One day we were on the back porch and we were watching our cats stare at the ceiling. We looked up to see a cat staring at us from a speaker hole cut out in the ceiling. We couldn't get the cat to come out and the attic above the porch wasn't accessible so we placed water and food in the ceiling through the speaker hole.

This went on for a couple of weeks while we devised a way to get the cat out of the attic. We finally borrowed a live trap and stacked some tables up so that we had a platform under the speaker hole. The cat fell for the bait and we were able to release her outside.

A couple of months later, My Dad and I saw a kitten run out from under the front porch. And then another. And another. And another. All from the cat from the attic. We caught them and raised them until we found homes for them.

About a year later, we found some more kittens. This time we were able to catch the mother and all the kittens and move them into the screened back porch. That litter gave us cats #4 & 5. My sister adopted the other 2. After the kittens were weened, we took the mother to the vet and had her spayed. She had lived outdoors for so long that we released her back outside.

If her sentence to the outdoors was based strictly on behavior, then she would have 6 companions join her and they would all be outdoor cats.

Dave
Actually, it's more like being a zookeeper. That reminds me. We need to get a mouse for the snake

Hi to the rest of the Bots.

Chester

Dave: congrats on the cute new addition to the family

Chester: I love the cat story and the image of a little fuzzy face peeking through the ceiling is prefect!

Lou and Howard: you make the DE race sound so appealing ;)

I officially have a new race to train for, we managed to talk ourselves into a grown-up weekend get away for the Princess 1/2, sure it will be a ladies tech shirt, but Butch is man enough to deal with it...

Chester - WOW, I thought I had a soft spot for wayward animals!:goodvibes

Jen - WISH I could get a tiara medal. Have fun & make sure you take a picture of Butch with his newly acquired bling!;) Now don't get all jealous, Mikeprincess:

Hey to all you other BOTS!

I actually ran 3 miles yesterday & 3.5 today :p . Bruce keeps bustin' on me, stating that I must be training for an ultra with all the miles I've been putting in!:rolleyes2 . What a tool!

Jen - Congrats on your Princess getaway. Maybe you'll run into Kathy. She's going on a solo weekend. I guess the grown-up getaway isn't so relaxing when one of the grow-ups is me.:confused3

Jodi - Put those miles to good use. You'll need them for Nashville.

Kathy and I are a definite go for CMM in Nashville in April. I'm looking forward to it.

I got a 12 mile run in today. I was a little worried about ice still hanging around on the sidewalks but it wasn't too bad. Well, the ice wasn't too bad. The 12 miles... seems like they should have been easier.

Hi all. A little behind on the thread here.

I've been running, but not as much as I should - I seem to be lacking motivation. I think the cold is a huge part of it. I'm planning on running 10 tomorrow (then again, I was planning on running 4 today and that didn't happen).

Mike - Are you planning on running anything at the National Marathon?

Cindy - I'm supposed to work the weekend of the National stuff. I asked my counterpart if he would be interested in working that Friday night for me. I'll have to wait to see what he says.

Hey all!

Looks like we are all suffering from winter bad weather blues. Today is the best day we've had in weeks.

I managed to get 9 miles in on the bike trail. It was still a little slick from ice patches but the temps were in the high 30's/low 40's. At Mile 5 I was pass by the members of the Rowan University cross country team. These dudes were running in shorts with no shirts and passed me like I was standing still. I sped up and hung with them for about a 1/2 mile, running at like a 6:30 mpm pace. :scared1: Then I realized I was about to puke so I gave up.

Can't say I am rooting for anyone in this Super Bowl. It's hard not to want to see the Cardinals win (sorry Dave and Howard).

Howard - Cam's office sounds like a much better hang then my hiding place (lobby of the Wyndham Hotel). We'll have to figure out a place to meet up before the race.

Lou

Hey Everyone,

My pick for the Superbowl? As a Brown's fan it is impossible to openly route for the Steelers. Still, I have to admit that I like their forever blue collar, beat the hell out of you approach to the game. Then again, you've gotta like the Cardinal's Cinderalla story as well. Hopefully, it will be a good game either way.

Lou - So, you're not going out for the cross country team anytime soon?

I've never sat down and added it up but I'm sure over the last 2 years I've easily run over a couple thousand miles. Well, today for the first time ever I found a dollar on my run. Real cash money! You would think just by the law of averages spending hundreds of hours outside staring 15 feet in front of you that would happen at least every once in a while. Maybe I'm due for more!

Finally, I posted a this thread on the main board but incase you don't see it:

Hilly or flat is such a subjective thing.

I am curious what everyone else's "typical" training conditions are.

As an example, today I ran what I would consider a rolling 7.25 miles. According to the Garmin, the elevation change up was 1089 feet and down was 1125 feet. That averages about 150 feet up per mile and 155 feet down per mile.

So here is where you all come in. Pick a routine training route and post the miles and elevation changes. I'm interested to see what's usual.

Oh, and I won't even try to figure out how I can start and stop at the exact same spot in my driveway and go down 36 more feet than I go up. Earth wobble, I guess.
