~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

I just received a call to come in and substitute teach in DD9's classroom today. I have to be there at 11:00, so gotta go.:moped:

My mom used to substitute teach and she taught a few of my classes in High School. I hated it, but my friends thought it was cool.

May have to take the plunge & buy plane fare to Nashvul...:scratchin

Oooh, this one :mic: will be good when I start to ramble on about the lack of participation in our "relay" :rolleyes2

What do 'ya got if you ain't got a BOT? Nuthin! :confused3

Hi everyone, I have been lurking until I had something to post. No running or much else here. I did register for the Caesar Rodney Half as I mentioned before, but that is about it with anything associated with running (or exertion of any kind).

I met with Doctor Gruber today, my podiatrist. He poked, prodded, vibrated my toes, took X-rays of both feet and generally did Doctor type stuff. He said a few things:

1. Take the anti-inflammatory for two solid weeks (2x /day). I guess I had been using it only for its pain abatement properties and it never really had a change to anti-inflam anything. :confused3 Who knew? :rolleyes2

2. He put a compression wrap on my foot in a specific part right behind the toes which is squeezing the front of the plantar thingy. I am to use this all day, every day for two weeks, but take it off while I sleep.

3. He recommended freezing dixie cups of H20 and rubbing then on the area each and every night for two weeks. I'll start that tomorrow. ::yes::

4. He recommended stretching the toes back with a belt as often as possible (or as much as I can tolerate).

5. He said orthotics are expensive and he doesn't want to go there unless I absolutely need to.

6. My X-rays were delightful, no bone issues such as fractures and no arthritis.

7. My range of motion is limited in the ankle deflection (how much my shin can lean out over the foot/toes) when I rest or run. He said this can cause my running stride to pull on the plantar more than a normal range of motion could.

8. He said I can swim or bike at the gym, no TM or elliptical until further notice.

I see him in two weeks.

I'll keep you posted.

He seemed either impressed or dumbfounded by my half, marathon, marathon, 5K, half, marathon past few months.

Miss you all.... have fun at the CMM!

Hi Everyone: I only have a couple minutes to post before I run to a meeting. However, I wanted to post some news. Not running-wise, I've been doing daily 3 mile TM runs, but nothing special, but this is family news. We have a new family member!

Welcome, Mr. Rocky Road (Rocky for short)

Some of you may remember that my cat of almost 20 years died this past August. Well, it was finally time to go out and find a new family member. We adoped him from a cat rescue agency, he's about 4 months old, and he's very snuggly.

OK, gotta run.

:cool1: :cheer2: YAAAAYYYYY! Congratulations on your new addition to the family & thanks for adopting a homeless pet!!!:hyper:

Dave I didn't know you were in the market for a new cat. Cindy and I have a few extras that we could have given you!

:cat: :cat: :cat:

I kid of course, we love all our cats, but we do have three of them.

Dave! Congratulations! He's so handome!! :goodvibes And yes, thank you for adopting. You done good!! :thumbsup2

Awww, Dave! He is sooo cute! I am so glad he is cuddly -- often, rescued animals aren't. How fortunate he is to have ended up in such a loving home.

Sloppy day here in NJ as I expect it is at most of your places. Lots of thick, slippery, gray, slush everywhere. School was canceled which jammed my day up. Had to cancel meetings in Philly and work from home today...oh well. Better than having to commute in this muck.

Dave - Love the new addition. Unlike dogs, cats are pretty easy to come by so there is almost no reason to by one. We have three in my house and they are all strays. 2 of them were born under our deck.

Howard - The doctor gave you the 21-pt foot restoration plan. I think the plan for the economy is less complicated. My guess is you stay off the foot for a decent amount of time you'll be fine. Caesar Rodney is far enough away that you'll have plenty of training time.

What else is new out there?

No Nashville for me. I think I'll stay local with the races in the spring.

May hit the TM tonight because I have no desire to run outside today.

DAve, congrats on the cat! What a beauty. DD is gorgeous too!

Jodi, is your cruise THIS Saturday? In my mind, I always thought it was Feb. 7th, but maybe I am wrong.

Mike, what's going on? I can never figure out if you post more when you are working or not?!?!:confused3

Lou, ah, a snow day. Cool. We had our first snow fall in NC last week, it was on Inauguration Day and the kids already had the day off school.

I survived teaching in my DD's classroom yesterday. I thought I did a splendid job, the kids were great! I asked DD what she thought of me as a substitute. She pondered the question and then replied, oh, you are about #2 on the list.:rotfl2: There is this old schoolmarm that subs at the school and she is a real piece of work. At least I was ahead of her.:thumbsup2

Lou~ No doubt he was thorough and cautious with his plan of attack. I went to the YMCA tonight to get in some kind of activity. I rode the "Expesso" bike with the video screen. I did a total of a little over 6 miles with a rigorous pace. I finished ahead of my pacer by over 3:30. By the time I was finished, my heart rate was high and my quads were tight. I am pretty sure it didn't aggrivate my foot too much, however, I am going to ice when I am off of the computer for kicks. I promised myself I would do what is prescribed so I can kick this thing (even if I don't feel it might be effective). I also lifted weights for about 20 minutes. The guns were a bit rusty, but I'll get back into the groove quickly.

My DS has the day off school too. I'm sure it'll be back on tomorrow.

Dave~ Great addition to the family. I am a puppy person, but respect the felines of the world and what they bring to it.

Jodi~ Enjoy your cruise (whenever it happens). pirate:

Hi to everyone else! :wave2:

Tonight, I intend to reconstruct my running log (post computer crash) and start using it again for my workouts. It motivates me to post results in it and follow my progress in losing weight, miles run/walked/biked, etc. I will feel better knowing it is up to date and intact. I also have to log my Disney runs in my training log.

Have a good one!

ThetaAlphabeta - My work is 20 minute bursts of activity followed by 10 minutes of nothing. It takes me a couple hours to read and respond to half a dozen posts. I don't usually get 10 minutes of nothing at home until after the little ladies are in bed and by then I'm generally brain dead.

I'm happy to hear subbing went well. I occasionally hear horror stories about the time Kathy's mom ended up doing a long-term gig in Kathy's class when she was a kid.

Dave - Nice cat. I'm sure the girls are thrilled.

Howard - The doctor gave you the 21-pt foot restoration plan. I think the plan for the economy is less complicated.
So, if I rub a frozen Dixie cup on my 401K statements do you think they'll look better??

Well, Tuesday started my official training plan for my yet to be determineed April marathon. Unlike Cindy, I did not beat the snow so I was reduced to TM runs the last 2 days. Yuck! Why are those contraptions so hard for me? I was running really slow and almost dying! Now I've got more aches and pains than I did after Goofy. Thankfully, tomorrow is a rest day.

Greetings from my new-Bot-laptop! It's too cool, although I can't use the wireless internet @ home yet. Ever since I got AT&T the wireless doesn't work, :confused3 .

I'm leaving for the cruise on Thurs., 2/12. We're flying into Tampa & visiting with my mom in Sarasota for 2 nights. Then we'll leave in the early a.m. (Sat., Valentine's Day) for the port.

Speaking of Valentine's Day, is it only me that thinks it's quite ironic that Mike's Birthday is on this, of all days??? Ahh, just one of God's little jests, I suppose!

Of course they are, wench.:snooty:

First of all, can it be done, or do you have to have a reservation for the same date?
