~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Mike - How'd that 13 go?

JoDo - 13 was 16 which between weather, sick kid, and school party = zippo.

Cindy - Looking for a little speedwork the weekend prior to Disney? A nice little 5k about 5k from us.

You and Matt can come over to our house afterward. I'll even give you a cup of hot coffee, some instant oatmeal, or an egg or something.

Howard and Cam - I hope your travels south were safe. Happy anniversary.

As mentioned above, real life postponed my run today. I'll give it a go in the AM.

And in case any of you were going to recruit me to come to your school's kindergarten class and help assemble foam snow castles... Um, NO! Today was enough of that for me.

Jodi: So I'll be running through the backroads of NH at night followed in a van driven by the lady from "Poltergeist". Yikes!!:scared1: I'm a baby when it comes to all scary movies, but Poltergeist seriously terrified me. I haven't seen it in 25 years, but I still get freaked when I see snow on a TV set.

Cindy

OH YEAH. We NEED you on our team :stir:. Did you see "IT"? :clown:

guys, we've got ourselves a nightrunner :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Good Morning Team: :surfweb: I'm waking up and fueling up for a run (I think). We got absolutely dumped on with snow yesterday. We got at least a foot of snow over the day, and it might have been more like 18 inches. They're calling for another dumping of lake effect snow tomorrow. So I'm going to try to run today because it won't get any better tomorrow. I didn't train yesterday. It was supposed to be a cross training day for me. I did shovel snow though, and I had a 45 min walk through deep snow when DD7's pooh: school bus got stuck and I had to walk to go pick her up to rescue her. So I think that all counts as cross training.

CindyLou Who- Didn't I remember that you just missed qualifying for Boston? Folks, not only do we have a night runner, we've got a ringer on the team. Well, that's in addition to the Cloud. Not only is the Cloud fast, but evidently he will distract all the female runners when he runs in his shorts.

Mike- Hang in there. This is always a tough time of year for running. With all the holiday things going on, school events, and weather. Good luck with the running. You and Kathy must be getting excited for your adult only trip to Disney coming up.

Jodi- I love It :clown:! It is one of my all time favorite books. When I was in college, Stephen King was just about all I read, and It was my favorite (followed by The Stand). I think I read It 3 or 4 times. Might be time for me to read it again. I actually don't think I've ever seen the TV movie though. "Pennywise will make them float... :clown:"

Lou- That Ocean Drive Marathon sounds tough. Wind in your face for 26.2 miles... uugh, why not just run uphill for 26.2 miles?

OK, I guess I need to get ready if I'm going to get out there. Temperature is in the teens and there is a lot of snow out there...

ETA: OK, I'm back. I did 8.68 miles in 1:29 min for 10:18 mpm pace. Whew, that was a tough run slogging through the snow and slush. I had to take a lot of walk breaks to let cars and snow plows pass - plus my legs were getting really tired. It was tough sledding. I did shovel the walk when I got back though before I took off all my cold weather running gear. OK, gotta run DD10 princess: to tae kwon do. Hope everyone's having good runs out there.

Dave - Excellent getting out there in the winter wonderland. Pretty impressive.

You had to go rescue your DD from a stuck bus? Wow! They cancel school here if there are 2 threatening clouds.

Jodi - You be nice to the newBots now.

OC - Better start practicing your night running. Are you doing Disney in a few weeks?

Colleen - Get some big miles in?

Lou - Maybe you could suggest that they just turn the course around?

Sara - How are you feeling?

Chester - Anymore running nude?

Howdy to all my other dear friends!

Well, my postponed 16 turned into 18 this morning (I guess I did 16 with interest). Overall, not bad. A bit more of a struggle over the last 5 or so miles than I would have liked. The LR's seemed a little easier WAY BACK in late October. What's the deal with that?:confused3

Alright, off to help Kathy with last minute preparations for an intimate little immediate family party that has somehow ballooned.

Wait, why is Cindy carrying us in a pouch? I didn't know she offered to do that for the relay. SWEET! :thumbsup2

I was thinking she could be like our own private opossum & we could all hang off her while she runs the entire 200 miles...:rolleyes1

Hi all.

I'm sorry that I haven't replied to everyone's posts in ages. Work is sucking the life out of me lately. I did manage to do all of my Christmas shopping yesterday, however.

I ran 16 today. It was miserable. The wind was terrible. It was cold. My knees hurt. I got a terrible blister. I wanted to quit during this run probably more than I have ever wanted to quit during a run before. But, its done and there's a very good chance it will be my longest run before the Goofy.

Hello fellow bots.

Cindy: great job on sticking with the run, I give you tons of credit

Howard and Cam: Happy anniversary!!! Hope you had fun at Disney.

Mike: I want to see pictures of the kindergarten project, sounds like fun ;)

This week has been rough for me too. I had a mild stomach bug last week and it refuses to completely let go. I thought I was better before my LR last week but was close to hurling through most of the run. :sad2: I backed off for a couple of days but still feel exhausted and just not quite right. I managed 5 miles yesterday and think I'm going to bail today and get some much needed sleep. Hopefully I'll be up for another LR tomorrow night.

Good Morning Everyone: :surfweb:

Pretty quiet in Botland...

I woke up to another winter wonderland today. More blowing lake effect snow over here in Rochester. Schools are closed today - they probably learned their lesson when busses got stuck on the way home on Friday. Even the New York State Thruway is closed from right here in Rochester all the way westbound to the Pennsylvania state line. My DW woke up and made me laugh by saying, "what about those people that have to finish their Christmas shopping?" I already called up work and said I was working at home today.

Not much new for me to report. Rest day yesterday - I think I might try to run some loops around my neighborhood today. We'll see.

Jen- were you able to get that 5K bib?

Howard and Cam- I hope you had a great anniversary weekend at Disney. I can't wait to hear a report. Hope your travelling went smoothly.

Cindy- I hope you're doing OK. You sound pretty stressed with work. Hang in there, and better to have a bad run now than in January at Disney.

Mike- Nice job on your 18 miler. How'd that party of yours go? You and Kathy must be getting excited for your adult only weekend in Disney. Are you guys really going to be running at all, or are you just going to stay in your resort?

Jodi- Hi :wave2: :clown:

Colleen- How is your training going? Is this year's Disney the race that both you and your husband are running, or was that 2010?

Greetings to everyone else: Lou, Chester, and anyone else I may have forgotten.

Hi everyone! What's up with this? I wake up at OKW yesterday and walk out into high 70 degree and sunny splendor and this morning I wake up and walk out into 15 degree splendor. :headache: That's without the windchill which is 4 degrees. I know some of you have it much worse than that, but I have to admit, that sucks!

Our flight down on Friday was delayed over 3 hours. :headache: :headache: We landed in Orlando close to 1:30 AM, made our way to the Hertz counter (which wasn't there!) and had to take a Hertz bus to their off-site rental facility. (Note to self: Do not use Hertz, stick with an on-site rental agency.) Once there, we waited what seemed like forever to finally get a car and hit the road. We got a nice upgrade to a candy apple red 2007 Mustang which, I must admit, was nice to tool around in over the weekend. Our room at OKW was the absolute farthest room and building in OKW, we had asked to be near the Hospitality House. We finally reached our room at OKW at 3:05 AM!!! :headache: We were up early due to an ADR we had at Olivia's for breakfast at 8:30 AM where we got Pixie Dusted with complimentary Mimosas for our 24th Anniversary!

We then went to the Magic Kingdom for the day and enjoyed the Mickey's Very Merry Christmastime Parade, the Castle lighting/icing ceremony and some good old fashioned amusement rides - Big Thunder Mountain RR, Pirates, Space Mountain, Mickey's Philharmagic, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, etc. We had lunch at Casey's and dinner at the Plaza Restaurant where we had an ADR. Both were yummy in their own right. We got back to our room close to midnight.

In the morning, we made our way over to the Grand Floridian for breakfast at Gasparilla's and we took some great photos of Sago Key Pointe (and from) where our dessert party will take place. We also went to GF to check out the Gingerbread House and bought a few items to take home to the kids.

We then went over to Wilderness Lodge to check out the Christmas decorations which were beautiful and then went to Downtown Disney for the afternoon to shop. We ran back over to OKW before heading out of town. While there we picked up lunch at Goods, the counter service snack place. We then headed out of town to drop the car back off and then get shuttled over to the airport.

Our flight leaving MCO was delayed by 20 minutes but we managed to land about 5 minutes earlier than our original flight was supposed to. I guess they caught a tailwind or something. We were home by 9:15-9:30.

Welcome back to reality! My legs are mildly sore from all of the walking we did on Saturday, I feel like I usually do three or four days out from a marathon. I think that means that I am out of shape and not ready for Goofy. :confused3 I plan on doing some running this week and next to get a bit more prepared. In the mean time, I'll hope for some of those tropical breezes to make their way up here to Delaware.

Have a great day! Hi to all! :wave2:

:grouphug:

Howard

Good morning, everyone!! Thank you for all the good wishes for our anniversary. It is hard to believe that today is 24 years! :lovestruc :cloud9: We had a wonderfully romantic weekend and the castle was literally breathtaking. The afternoon Christmas parade was the longest we've ever seen and there was so much to look at. The park is just so beautiful at this time of year!
Hugs, all! Can't wait to see most if not all of you in about 2.5 weeks!

Cam and Howard

Happy anniversary! Did you see us when we waved at you from the monorail? Tracy and I with Chet and his GF and Miranda and her BF were at MVMCP Friday night and stayed at Fort Wilderness for the weekend in the Ark. We swung through OKW on a bus headed for breakfast at Boma then cruised around on the monorail resorts on Saturday.

Our office is closed until Jan 5th, but I'm in today working on some freelance work. If I get home at a reasonable hour tonight, I'll get my last 20 miler in.

If I get home at a reasonable hour tonight, I'll get my last 20 miler in.

Good luck with the 20 miler! Nice cool weather for it!

Welcome home Cam and Howard. Your weekend sounds terrific, except for the late departure and very late check-in. SOunds like it didn't slow you down. :thumbsup2

Dave, wow, I can't believe you are thinknig about running in that weather. It is 38 F here and windy. Too extreme for me, so I will be getting 5 in on the treadmill. Yes, DH is running Disney this year with me, well not with me, he will be finished while I will be on mile 17.

The kids have swimming today, so I plan to get my 5 miles in on the treadmill (as I mentioned above). I didn't get anything in this weekend and nothing longer than 10 miles since Philly, so I hope to get 15-18 in Wednesday.:sad2:

Hey McPhillaBots,

Howard and Cam - Sounds like an action packed weekend. I've eaten at Olivia's before. Nice place and all, but I'd have opted for a tad more sleep and picked up a muffin somewhere given the LATE check-in. You two are hardcore!

Chester - Enjoy the break, or the opportunity to restock the race fund as the case may be. Did you get your 20 miles in?

Dave - Do you wear snow shoes there Nanuk? Kathy and I are looking forward to a no kids trip. The only problem is there is so much going on between now and then with the holidays and getting everything ready for Grandma and Grandpa to watch the kids. Add in the crappy sleeping that surrounds a couple of races and we'll be too tired to enjoy ourselves!

Colleen - Sorry things haven't worked out, schedule-wise for you. Just think of it as extending the life of your running shoes.

Where the heck are the rest of you slackers??

I was able to get out and do 6 miles this morning. It was pretty frigid out, but not unbearable once I got moving. I probably should do something tomorrow too. We'll see how that pans out.

Greetings Everyone: Snow day here yesterday. I stayed home and worked from home, but that also consisted of going out to do some last minute Christmas shopping. I went for a run in the late afternoon when it warmed up to nearly 20 degrees. I put the "yaktrax" on my shoes, and did 3 loops around my neighborhood for 3.75 miles.

I took some pictures from my iPhone to show you all my running conditions.
Here's my neighborhood...

I told the girls that they could throw snowballs at me as looped past the house. This caused the neighbor boys to come over and join in.

OK, that's all for now.

Chester- did you get your 20 miler in?
