The boring FW pool...

Has anyone used a pool at one of the nearby resorts? It seems so easy to get to WL or CR from FW. Earlier this year we stayed at WL and AKL and my kids loved, loved, loved the pool slides. We also love FW but the boring pool is a bit of a problem.

I know that you are not supposed to pool-hop but until FW does something exciting with the pool I think we'll consider doing it. Anyone ever have a problem while using a resort pool? We are going in September.

If you do try to hop, be prepared to be asked to leave.

sorry, we have never tried. we just use the plain ol pool... depsite not having slides and other "cool stuff" it can still be a noisy spot.

It doesn't bother us. It's a pool and you swim in it. That's all we go there to do. :::shrug:::

I have been saying for a long time Disney needs to update FW even the pools. We alway go to WL or Beach Club to go swimming. The FW main pool is the same one they had sent the 70's

Have to agree that the pool is BORING! Each time we get a postcard to give our comments on our stay at FW I make sure that a comment about the pool and closing of River Country is a severe disappointment is included.
Evidently it has been noted by Disney as per a conversation with a call back person but I guess at this time isn't a priority.

I remember the days when you could pool hop. We would either enjoy a day at River Country, or we would go to Poly.'s pool or CR's pool. Ahhhh the good ole days!

When we stayed at the FT W cabins last summer, we were asked to sign a paper that stated that we would only park one vehicle at our cabin and that we were not allowed to pool hop. It was interesting that we were asked to sign this paper.

It is interesting about the pool hopping paper.

People on the resorts board get very upset when asked about pool hopping. They'll also tell you that many of the pools do check resort id to make sure you are staying at that resort. I know at storm along bay at the beach club they almost always ask for id before letting you into the pool area.

Pool hopping is reserved for DVC members only and if you do be prepared to be asked for a DVC member ID card and room key for the resort.

We were asked to sign something similar back in January of 2004.

Personally, I'm OK with the 'boring pool' at least for this trip. We'll only have 4 full days in the World before heading south to the Gulf Coast, and I don't want DS (8YO) to hear the siren song of a pool slide to take away from park time. He'll swim plenty, and still have a ball.

The way I see it, the customers get to pick which resort they stay at, and in doing so pick the pool that they swim at. If we want a "better" pool area (or just different), then we should pick a different resort.

Sorry, I can't agree with that logic. For hotel guests, it is quite easy to upgrade to better hotels and get better pools. For us RVers, we only have one choice and with the rates we are paying, we deserve better.

I totally agree!!!! We only have one choice at Disney to camp and frequently we pay more than value resorts so why not treat us alittle bit better.

Just remember those stating they pay more than a value resort that the discounts at the value resorts is slim top none anymore which equates about 109 a night and they don't have slides or anything either. They do have some theming at All Star Movies and All Star Music but not at All Star Sports they are really about the same as the pool at FW. They just have Mickey or Donald around them.

I think it's really hard to compare the price of values to a campsite anyway. A camper has to bring everything themselves - even beds! There is no daily housekeeping. it's just different.

And FW doesn't even supply pool towels.

So it is like being a DVC member then lol. in a week stay you get a trash and towel service you bring your own food cook your own food and do your own laundry mind you the washers and dryers are in the room in a 1 and 2 bedroom and grand villa but in the studio you need to cart it to the laundry room and DVC is a whole lot more than your average hotel room at Disney.

I like bring my own towels I do not like using towels or sheets that 1000's have used.

Kimd of like DVC except that you have to bring your own washer and dryer.

In their defense, we just returned from a split stay (FW/POP), and we like the FW pool more because it's actually deep enought to swim in (I do laps or waterwalk every day). The kids can jump in and not have to worry about smacking the bottom! Plus having the food and arcade at the big pool is nice. The POP pools were so shallow, and it had been so hot, that the water was HOT, and you couldn't "swim" in it anyway. They were always crowded, too. So there's my feeble defense!
