Here goes nothing....
The Cast (aka The Borg)
Me: (aka Tink). I'm 25 and have been going to WDW ever since I was six months old. For the first seven years of my life, we went every year. Then my parents got divorced and things got complicated. Trips after that were a bit less frequent. I went last August with my little sis and am now taking my two best friends to see the World (both first timers, they are DL people). I own almost every Disney movie made, keep atop of all the park gossip, and have been known to make very cute Tink faces (hence my nickname). I apparently also overuse parenthesis when I type. I apologize for that.
Mia: (aka Panda or Mia-Ling). DBFF #1. Soon to be 26 and also obsessed with Disney, though she grew up in DL, not WDW. This will be her first time there. I have spent the past couple of months getting her psyched about the trip and I think I have succeeded (though she still insists that the MK has a "fake castle" -- according to her Sleeping Beauty trumps Cinderella every time). She's most excited about seeing EPCOT (both for the World Showcase and the chance to "tell off" Figment for influencing me to be bad) and Animal Kingdom and her favorite characters are Sleeping Beauty (obviously) and Megara.
Gillian: (aka Miss Gillian). DBFF #2. Also soon to be 26. While Gillian grew up on Disney movies, she had never been to ANY Disney themepark until 2006 when we took her to Disneyland for the first time. Since then she has been to Disneyland one other time. This will be her first time at WDW and only her third time in a Disneypark at all. She is VERY excited about the MK as Cinderella is her favorite princess and she will finally get to see Cinderella's castle. She's also quite enthused about EPCOT (apparently my enthusiasm for this park has transferred to them). Her other favorite character is Alice.
Collectively, we are known as "The Borg" because we do EVERYTHING together. So you can only imagine how excited I am about taking them to the one place I love more than anywhere else in the world.
The Plans
Originally, we were supposed to arrive at WDW on January 12 and leave January 19th, staying at Pop Century. But then I found out my grandfather was having valve-replacement surgery on the 14th and so we switched the trip to January 26th to February 2nd. This involved a bit of footwork as there is apparently a dance/cheerleading competition that week and so all the hotels are booked up started Feb 1. We had to switch from POP to ASMu, but since Broadway is my other passion, this doesn't seem like too big a hardship.
Not to mention, the Pirate and Princess Party is happening that week. We've gotten tickets for the 29th.
Of course, as I'm typing this, my mother calls to tell me that his surgery has been changed again. This time to the 18th. Apparently my uncle is urging him to get another opinion. If he does that, it could change again. I'm getting this sinking feeling in my stomach. Like this trip is not actually going to happen (the week we have now is the LAST week that will work for everyone for a good couple of months). But I'm going to try not to think about that.
Our other ADRs include Breakfast at the Crystal Palace on Thursday the 31st and Appts at the Bibbdi Bobbidi Boutique on the 29th (so that our hair can be done for the party).
I can't wait to get there. And with everything going on, I NEED this vacation. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it actually happens.
