This looks like a place to pass a couple of hours one evening?
We have two pre-schoolers and sometimes after a lazy day with naps we like to pop out in the evening, DTD gets a bit boring, is Disney's Boardwalk worth a visit?
I take it it's connected to the Boardwalk villas, are we "allowed" to go there? I'm not knowledgeable about the resort areas as we've never stayed on site.
So, is it worth it and if so, where is it and how do we get there?
Thanks.
Joanne :flower3:

Hi the Boardwalk area around the lake was one of my favourite places at WDW, (we have even booked to stay there next year). We got there from Epcot, you leave the park from the international gateway between UK and France. you can then get a boat or walk, it is a very small walk. They was plenty of entertainers like jugglers, a Banjo Player, a few shops. My DD loved it there.

Thank you, that's what I thought. Never used International gateway before, do love a boat trip too....:thumbsup2

Stayed at the Boardwalk last year, great location, rooms could have been nicer but it's a great place to spend the evening.

With the Beach Club closeby too it's a good chance to experience both resorts and see what it's like to stay 'on-site'.

Really liked the ESPN sports bar and all those TVs :)

You haven't said where you are staying, are you onsite? You can catch the Disney Buses to the Boardwalk resort(from the theme parks or DTD) and walk through. You can also park at the Boardwalk resort, just tell the attendant you are visiting the restaurants/shops and show ID.

The Boardwalk is lovely at night for a stroll and I'm sure your children will love it. You can also hire family bikes( 4 seaters with a couple of additional baskets seats for youngsters) and cycle round the lake a couple of times which is great fun but watch out for the hills:scared:

Just in case you didn't realise, you can visit any of the resort hotels without having to be an on-site guest. Most have restaurants open to all, and some are definitely worth a look round just for the themeing, and to play the "When my balls drop" game :lmao: (When my balls drop Saturday night and I win 5 million, THIS is where I'll stay)

You too - we play that game all the time!!

The Boardwalk is within easy walking distance of Fantasia mini golf too. a game of golf, Cape may buffet then a walk round the boardwalk is a few hours well spent.

We watched the Epcot firework display from the boardwalk too.

This is Julie not Johnny

Actually, the more I think about it, if you're not bothered about shopping it's a lot nicer place to sit and relax than DTD.

Sitting outside the Big River Grille enjoying one of their latest brews and watching the world go by on a fine evening takes some beating :cloud9:

Wow, I'm glad I asked, you all seem really positive about it.
We love old fashioned coastal resorts (if you're lucky enough to find them) and piers in the evening and although not real, it's Disney - for a moment it looks like you could believe it is.......

Did your balls drop then, Johnny? :lmao:

Is the Cape May buffet something I would have to have a ressie for?

We have recently returned and I have to admit after many trips to Florida this one was the first time we visited Boardwalk. We loved the place! Epcot is so different at night too, but as others have said a summer's evening spent at the Boardwalk is lovely. Hire a Surrey bike and pedal all around the Boardwalk............wish we had visited on earlier trips........
