We're checking in later today for a weekend stay at Boardwalk Inn for Food & Wine.

We've requested a king room and will be asking if Boardwalk view is available when we get there. How about upgrade to CL - is there usually any last minute availability?

Any hints? Must do's? Must see's?

We're so excited!!

When we checked in on Oct 20 they told us we could upgrade to CL but have to pay the cost. We requested a king bed and DH asked to be close to the elevators. We were in room 4307, really nice room, immaculate, close to elevators, king bed room overlooking the front of the BWI (where the cars pull up) super quiet room though

Thanks! What was the cost to upgrade?

She didnt say and we didnt ask...we booked a standard room with a king bed request on the AP discount for $220 a night...dont know if the CL room would be discounted on that AP discount or if we would have to pay full price...either way it wasnt worth it to us

Thanks - I'm thinking the same - that it really wouldn't be worth it since we're there just for the weekend for Food & Wine.

And you got a better rate than us - we only managed $247 with the AP rate - I still consider it a great price!

I'm going to post this question here rather than on the main board to avoid any debates between values and deluxe resorts. Having only ever stayed at a value before, are the towels, toilet paper, bedding, etc better quality at the deluxe level or are they pretty much standard across the board? I'm really hoping for better towels, I can't stand the thin, scratchy ones!

Yes the linens are much nicer than the values, thicker fluffier towels, better mattresses, sheets and bedspreads are higher quality and the pillows are wonderful!

These are from room 4307 Oct 20-30 2012. Our Mousekeeper was Maria and she has been leaving me 4 bottles each of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion plus these adorable towel animals.

We'll be staying at the BWV for the first time in early December. I'm wondering where there's a good place to eat breakfast. From what I can gather, the Boardwalk Bakery is the only place that serves anything hot for breakfast, and the selections appear to be somewhat limited. DH especially really likes a pancake or bacon and eggs breakfast. We wouldn't mind walking over to the Swan or Dolphin or the Yacht/Beach Club. I don't really want an expensive breakfast buffet - just a place where you can order what you want. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA.

Kouzzina's is awesome! I would highly recommend it, especially for breakfast!

Kouzzina breakfast is fantastic, much better than dinner. The bakalava french toast is to die for! Pics in my Oct 2011 thread

Didnt know if anyone posted but you can get the sangria from noon to midnight at the pizza window. Huge plastic cup for $7 and it was amazing...we had a few almost every day!

We always splurge and get the pitcher for breakfast, it is the best deal at WDW for alcohol.

Thanks for the answers regarding cases of water at the Hess station. Looks like that is the best option for me. I'll just walk there and grab a case.

Just returned from our trip to BWV. We filled up at the Hess station before heading home and had a quick look for you . . . 24 pack Dasani water for $5.99. Hope you have a great trip for Marathon Weekend.

Greetings

I will be staying at BWI in early March 2012. :goodvibes I WAS so very excited to be finally get the opportunity to stay there as it is one of the last two Deluxe Resorts on my quest until...

I started looking at room photos from both BWI and BWV. There are so many different (and old) room decor looks shown on the WDW info sites that I am now not sure I like what I am seeing as the most recent "look". Somehow I completely missed :duck: the fact that a redesign has occurred and now the rooms look, to me, very un-magical and more like "refined grandma". While I would have no qualms about staying in a room that looked this way in another U.S. city, it is not getting me excited in a DIS kind of way. :sad2:

My questions to all who have recently stayed at both BWI and BWV...please help me find the magic :wizard:...

1. Do you have a recent room photo of each BWI and/or BWV to share?
2. Is there more room "magic" in-person? Maybe in artwork? Lamps? Etc?

Thanks CRFFL, somehow I knew you'd come through. ;) Our tickers are loaded for the same day... :thumbsup2 Remember DH and I originally planned to stay at BWI the SAME time as you, but now my cousin is coming to town so we are going to stay with him in adjoining rooms at POP. And we've now moved BWI to our March anniversary trip.

My eeeeek-ometer :scared1: was on full blast after I realized that the rooms weren't at all what I remembered seeing once-upon-a-time and dreaming about for so long... But a refurb is ALL-GOOD and I am so glad I do see some whimsical features in the photos you've provided.

So CRFFL, were you pleased with the look of the rooms in person?

 Hi, MAGIC!

I can add some photos to the two BWIF4L posted. We did a little resort recon on our last trip and asked to see a room at BWI. I posted the photos here in August (or was it to that other BWI thread:scratchin) but, I don't think it'll hurt to post them again!
