The Boardwalk Inn Information Thread

We're just back from a quick stay at BWI CL.

The cast are as amazing as ever. They were really busy with a fully booked house due to ESPN weekend. In all of our trips, including Christmas week, we've never seen them running so much. But they kept the food, wine/beer, and soda fully stocked.

This trip we had the infamous satellite view at the end of the hall overlooking ESPN. When we got the text with the room number, I thought, "uh-oh." But it truly wasn't bad at all. I meant to take a picture but forgot. You see a bit of and hear the access road, to one side you see the boardwalk, Y&B, and water. To the other, you see France. In the middle, the satellite and a storage shed. If you're sitting, you see none of it because the balcony has the enclosed bottom. For you Star Wars fans, DH and DS started calling it the Endor suite because of the bushes and satellite. :)

We gave the GF a try in Dec. It was nice, but we couldn't help comparing it to BW. The Innkeeper's Club just feels like home to us.

btw, BW "noise" is never a problem for us. What little we can hear is no big deal, and the boat horn? That says "I'm on vacation" to me. funny, how different we all are! :goodvibes

Dont mind what was your room #, I would love to stay over looking the ESPN:cool1:

I know, not the best timing but my daughter's friends in the band are all going to be there and anytime is a good time to be at my favorite place in the world!!

ANYhoo - I have heard somewhere that the big Boardwalk pool is going to be closed during our stay and also we could pool hop to the Stormalong over at BC. Is this true? I called last week and the guy at the desk was unaware that the pool was being refurbed! I read on another site that it would open the 16th - so needless to say I am confused!

My 10 year old will be devastated if she doesn't get to swim this trip after it was sooooooo cold when we were there in December.

I personally would rather not go to another resort in my swim wear but that kid is so sweet, I'll do it for her!! LOL FUnny, in the 80's and 90's when my oldest kids were young, it was a novel thing to hop on the monorail and go poolhopping!! Now I'm older and not near as cute :rotfl: myself so I'd rather just veg at our resort!!

I have heard that the Beach/Yacht Club pool is the best in the "World" though so....

Would love to hear your opinions!! :hippie:

The mugs can be refilled at the following locations. Boardwalk Bakery, Boardwalk Joe's, Boardwalk Pizza Window and Seashore Sweets.

You should also know they are only sold at the Boardwalk Bakery and Seashore Sweets.

Thanks so much! Do you know if any of these refill stations are self-serve?

3) I saw a post earlier in the thread regarding life jackets on the pool slide - is it still OK for little ones to use swim vests on the slide? We have a pre-schooler who may or may not be swimming by the time we arrive in August, but I know he would love to try the slide.

Thanks so much!!!

Yes, they can still use life jackets on the slide.

It was 4201, but it is more behind ESPN than over it. If you want to look down on ESPN you would want a room around xx07, I think.

So would this be considered “the worst” view for a standard club level room? Albeit not that bad…

Thanks

from what I've read that's it. It was not horrible at all. Clearly, not the best view I've had there, but it wouldn't affect my trip. Considering that my balcony time is important to me, that's saying something.

Just a bump and thanks for this thread on BWI, we're soooo excited as this is our first epcot resort (we're normally monorail girls) so keep the info comin' :lovestruc

You're welcome and they are not self-serve locations, you need to give the mugs to the Cast Members so they can be refilled.

You only show the mug to the CM...they then fill up a paper cup and give that to you. They will not take your mug. You can then either just drink from the cup, or pour your drink into your mug.

As far as the pool rehab goes...if the BW main pool (Luna Park) is closed for rehab, BW guests can head over to SAB and use that pool. Of course, you can always use the quiet pools at BW as well.

Oh really. I honestly never knew that, although since we never purchased the mugs from the Boardwalk I guess that's why. Though that has me wondering if they don't actually refill the mug what's the point of purchasing it over there?

Is it closed now? I read it was but the CM at the BW didn't know! I called the direct number too...

Are you allowed to take kids to the quiet pool?

That doesn't seem very "green" - does it? :rolleyes1

Is it to make sure people don't just fill any old mug?

Mug refill?, love to hear from anyone there right now or just return on how the refill works?. That seems like such a hassel,to wait in line?. Maybe there Is a method to there madness.

Yes, the pool is closed until the 17th - according to Recreation a few days ago anyway.

You can take kids to the quiet pool. :thumbsup2

We were just there, and yes - every location you show the mug, they give you a paper cup of the beverage. This is because the stations are located behind the counter instead of out in the open like in a food court. It's for sanitary reasons they don't refill your mug.

For just a mug refill, I think it's a bit of a hassle. I wish they had a refill station at the pool bar or in the gift shop like Kidani has. Or in the little DVC shop just off the lobby.

However, it has been BUSY here and there wasn't ever a line at Sea Shore Sweets more than 1 or 2 people, so that wasn't bad for a refill.

I liked getting a refill on my way to Epcot. I would show them the mug and get the cup. Then I wouldn't have to deal with a slightly drippy mug until I could wipe it out...it was still clean and dry! :goodvibes

Ok I finally made my switch to BWV and I'm so excited! I'm going over Christmas so the walk to DHS and Epcot was the seller!

Edit from my post above - the Luna Pool is NOT closed, just the slide and hot tub. You can still swim in the pool and they have the games going, etc.

The hot tub at the quiet pool is open.

So the standard room comes with a fridge and a coffie pot right?, I wanted to get some ground coffie from the Poly(they still sell kona coffie right?) and have it in the room. I am really worried about the soda Issue and refilling our mugs:scared1:. We are big POP drinkers and refill many times during the day and right now it sounds like such a hassel getting them refill. I am I reading to much into this?, or is this a real Issue??.

I'd say if you are a big soda drinker walk over to the Hess Station across the road from the parking lot and pick up some cases so you can keep them in your room. To me it wasn't a big hassle, but it certainly isn't as easy to refill as at other resorts.
