What is the official name of the bird show in Animal Kingdom? Is it Flights of Wonder? Am I even close? I'm working on my scrapbook and I have to get it right :D

Thanks!
Amanda

It is Flights of Wonder, and a real hidden gem, imho. We never bothered to do this until about our fourth or fifth time at AK, when we just happened to walk by as a show was going. We caught the last half and enjoyed it so much we went back later to catch the whole thing! Now we make it a point to try and get to it every trip.

I agree it is an awesome attraction that is overlooked. I would have overlooked it if we hadn't had a traveling bird show similar to it at our local zoo (where I worked at the time) for a summer. It was great - and I have to admit I'm not a bird lover. So anyone reading this who hasn't seen it - take the time your next visit - it truly is very enjoyable :D Oh - and thank you so much for a speedy answer!

Does anyone know if it's the same show that it was 3 1/2 years ago (when I saw it last)? Also, since the theater is covered, but open, if I remember right, how hot does it get? Maybe DH and I will see it again next week, but I thought it might be hot outside.

I don't remember alot of it (only the part my DD was in), but they bring out birds and do tricks with them. They do fly around the arena too.

At one point they ask for a volunteer from the audience - who has a camera - and they bring them up on stage.

They have an owl fly around. My DD had to take a picture of the owl as it was flying towards her. The owl came really close to her - it was neat. (The picture came out great!!). Then she got to take another picture of him on his perch.

IMO, it is overlooked as well. But when you are trying to fit so much in AK in so short a time, it's often the one that's missed. We plan on going back next month as well.

our family really enjoyed this show. We went off season so the heat was not a big issue. I am NOT a bird lover and even i enjoyed this. My DS loved it. He was picked to throw a grape up in the air for a bird to catch. He threw it at me. AGGG. Not only am I not a bird lover, I have a big FEAR of anything that flies! Not pretty. The show was very well done.

As you walk along the path from Africa to Asia, it's on the left. Open air pavillion.

It's my fav attraction at AK. We HAVE to see it every trip!

The show was slightly different in December than it had been the last couple of years.

We love Flights of Wonder, and try to see the show each visit. Sometimes it is hard to plan all the shows around the attractions though, and we come back another day.

This show sounds great. I have not yet seen it. Does anyone know what types of birds are in the show? My son (13) loves birds and I think he will be quite interested in this show on our upcoming trip.

Flights Of Wonder is a neat show because they show natural bird behaviors not Parrots riding bikes on a tightrope:) There are a lot of different birds. From what I remember: Parrots, East African Crowned Crane, Bald Eagle, Owls, Falcon, Tucan. A lot of the birds fly all over-some over the heads of the audience. It is a wonderful show!

We really enjoyed this show and try to see it every time. They have an African Gray that sings songs like how much is that doggie in the window. Not just one short line but the entire song. I was amazed. They do not have the bird sing the songs at every show so be sure to come back until you see it. The show order does change a little but it is the same basic show. The first time we saw the Bald Eagle I had tears in my eyes. It is so large and powerful looking.

WDWorBUST, thank you for posting this thread! I am a HUGE bird lover and I have read about it in my PassPorter. I didn't seriously consider this attraction for my Sept trip, but now I am. I appreciate hearing the reaction from bird lovers and non bird lovers alike.
