We all know that WDW is expensive. What is the one thing you've bought that you thought 'OK, now this is out of line'.

Ours is a 4 pack of AA batteries at the American pavilion for $16. I just about choked!

I got a camera battery in a two pack, the only way it was available, for like $18+. Talk about making you sick! Why does the camera always die on vacation? I'm going to have to start buying them in bulk!

The two things I always pack a lot of is film and batteries.

Disposable camera At Cinderella's Royal Table for $21! But we ran out of film and the Princesses were not going to wait!

Really, my DW and I have saying we remind oureslves of constantly - we're here now, and obessing on how much you're being overcharged will just take the fun out of it on top of paying too much. You have to expect it and steel yourself to it before you go

I agree with OP. Out camera, too ran out of batteries and couldn't find the extras I brought along. We didn't research meals and drinks much the 1st time and I was shocked at the cost of a bottle of water or a soda. And I was also amazed at how expensive the pictures taken by the WDW photographers were. This time I will definately buy the Photopass CD. Oh, and this is not a WDW expense exactly, but it cost me over $230 to get fim developed when I got home! :guilty: Needless to say I have included photo costs in the budget this time.

Transfering my pictures (memory card) to a CD, it was so high I don't want to remember the price.

Ok, let's just say I have sucker written across my head :)

Me and dh were forced to buy luggage from the Port Orleans gift shop on our last trip. It was $100 (yes $100, I didn't mistype). The bag was slightly bigger than a book bag.

Now you may ask why did I purchase this item. Because my husband is dumb, would be the short answer...). See, we're young and don't really see the need for luggage and all our family has it, so we just borrow it when we go to Disney. Well, the luggage that my husband picked from his parents had a big rip in it; right around the seam where the side meets the bottom.

Now, I packed this suitcase before our trip. While the luggage was a little worn; it didn't look ripped to me. I didn't put much stuff in it so the tear wasn't visible. I remember my husband looking at the packed bag a little closely that evening. I asked him what was wrong, and he answered "nothing". Now I know that he saw the rip and lied to me (though he won't admit it). He just didn't want to go out at 10 p.m. and borrow a different bag.

Fast forward to the end of our Disney vacation and I once again pack this bag; accept now it's full of stuff. I can clearly tell that there is a whole in the suit case. Now my husband insists that nothing will come out of the bag and it will be fine. I'm anal; I couldn't take that chance. I get really mad at him because I knew right away that he knew about this and chose to not say anything. Now what if my stuff would have fallen out of the suit case on the way to Disney; I would have had no clothes!

Well anyway; down to the gift shop where I obtained the most expensive piece of luggage I will ever own. I guess you can call it a VERY expensive lesson :rolleyes1 and we will purchase our own luggage before our next trip.

The picture cds that we had made at Mk. I think it was like $13 for one cd and we needed 4 of them. And they are only $3 at walgreens. Which is were we had been burning them but there machines had been down and our cards were full. Next time we take a laptop to burn them ourselves.Oh well you live you learn. :goodvibes

Bring a digital camera it reduces the cost greatly. I just came back with over 1000 photos. We only got about 200 or so made into prints and that came up to around $50 I am trying to get a photo printer so the cost to it would be even less about 10 cents per photo
If I would have done this with a regular camera I couldnt even count the ammount it would cost
1000/36 * cost per roll * development of film

Also rechargeable batteries help

A disposable camera last June. I lost my brand new, purchased for this trip, camera (I think it was actually taken from our car at Perkins even though we were sure the car was locked - that's the last place we saw it). The disposable camera was $18, but at least you got 39 pictures. I bought another one this past December. I thought I had brought enough disposable cameras from home, but my husband was on this trip and was taking pictures like crazy!!

A camera strap for $32 when mine broke while at MK one day. Then, a few days later, I realized that a $4 bottle strap I had with me all along worked just well, if not better. Yee ha.

The Haribo Gummy Bears I got in Germany, for $3.00 that "someone" (Mickey's Sunshine) informed me I could have bought at Walmart for .96cents! :rolleyes1

ugh. my nice little 75$ polaroid digital camera I got before my last trip didn't have a rechargeable battery. I have spent 45$ already on batteries.

What is even more disheartening is,(someone correct me if I'm wrong),alot of the products are donated.I believe all they want in return is their name on an attraction. But I could be way off on this.

the lack of refillable mugs in the parks. (besides AK) at Universal Studios, Seaworld, Busch Gardens... I can take a 5 year old mug into the parks and get a fountain refill for around a dollar. ice water is free. you can even have them refilled with Icee's. I can take a Busch Gardens mug to Universal and they will honor it. Animal Kingdom has the mug program, why don't the other 3 parks?

What type of batteries do you use. I went buy some at Target, left them in the charger overnight and the charger blew up so I am on my 2nd set of batteries

$20 for a disposable camera at AK. My camera broke while we were on the Safari ride and I didn't bring my back up that day. So we stopped by the store right outside of the safari so I could pick up a disposable. I looked at what was rung up and told the cashier that can't be right. She said yep, and I handed her over the cash. I was better prepared the rest of the trip.
