Yes forgot about the Eagles, you would have to throw them in the mix, considering I think they're greatest hits album is one of if not the top selling classic rock album of all time.

If you go about separating them, the Eagles were more rock with a country flair, rockabilly(?). Even now they have reverted to their roots in country music. They are all different, Zeppelin at the time was considered heavy. Floyd more psychedelic. Lumping them in the time period I understand. It's hard to distinguish without making a lot of sub-genre's.

I guess this would be more of a "Best British Invasion" band poll.

I still would lean toward the Allman's of this time period or some Hendrix.

Yes its hard to do the categories, I do think the satellite stations have good categories, can't remember them all, but something like 1950s rock (early rock n' roll ala stuff you hear on Happy Days) 60s rock (Beatles, Stones CCR etc.) Classic Rock (basically 1970s rock and harder rock bands, like Led Zep, Boston, Aerosmith, Eagles), 80s Hair Bands (mostly hard rock from the 1980s), new progressive rock (1990s like Foo Fighters, Green Day) grunge rock (there is a blur between all 90s hard rock and grunge, like Nirvana is the beginning of Grunge, which you could list Alice n Chains in that, but ANC could also be considered new progressive rock in a way, so the lines do blur quite a bit, with every generation.

I would go with Pink Floyd, Led Zep, then Queen (even though they are not on your list).

Beatles #1, but all of those bands are great.:thumbsup2

Believe it or not, I rarely listen to the radio. If I do, it's NPR. There is soooo much great music out there that doesn't get air-play. I am clueless on the satellite radio stations.

Rush was one of the original Prog-Rock bands. I can't think of AIC and Rush in the same category.

Zeppelin, the other 4 on the list need not apply :)
