The best way to carry pills?

I take pills for heart failure everyday twice a day, I don't know the best way to carry them with me around the park as I need them by 9 am and 9 pm. I don't want to miss out on a park just because I have to take my meds....Anyone have a similar problem? What was your solution?

Mom has her meds in a little compartmentalized circle that covers 7 days.

I would just take the meds in my purse. If you are worried about the heat then you could leave all but 4 pills in your room, keep extra just in case you drop some. On my trips I kept the vitamins in a small container I got from a 99 cent store like Tupperware.

I carry pills around with me at all times. They are always in my purse in little pill cases that I bought at my pharmacy. I put the little cases into a small cosmetic type bag that I put into my waistpack when I travel. Yes I use a waistpack, it really works for me since with my fibromyalgia shoulder bags can sometimes make me hurt even more. As for on a plane always make sure you have your meds with you at all times, NEVER put them in check luggage as it could get lost, or take too long getting to you, etc. I made a mistake on my last Disney trip. I used a prescription bottle that did not have a child-proof lid (my kids are grown so don't need them anymore) and when I arrived at the hotel I noticed that the bottle had opened and my meds were all over my bag. Luckily I was able to gather tham all, but it made me realize that from now on I will use a child safetly bottle for traveling. I usually don't carry all my pills at one time into the parks. Every night I check my cases and make sure I have enough for the next day. As for heat, I've been going in August for years now and have never had a problem. Sorry this is so long, I didn't mean to ramble!! Hopefully I can help some of you.

You can buy little tiny clear ziplock bags at places like Michael's or Hobby Lobby for storing small beads and jewelry parts. They're like 2" or so. These are great for taking a single dose or two along in a backpack or handbag. Then you don't even have to worry about the bulk of an empty pill container in your bag - you can discard the used baggie or use it again.

I have a friend whose child takes many meds for a seizure disorder, and she has some kind of similar baggies that she uses every day........they are labeled with the time of day, and she sorts out the meds a month at a time. Then if she is traveling for a weekend or whatever, she just takes along the appropriate number of baggies for mornings/evenings/whatever.

Thanks..I love the little baggie idea as hubby usually wears cargo pants for everything, I am sure they will be good in his pockets.....

My husband and I both use those 7 day pill sorters, but for the parks, I have a small, two compartment box that says "AM-PM." That way I can easily see if in the excitement of the day I have forgotten to take my pills. Bought it at the drug counter at our local grocery store.

It is a little more expensive but, I carry a metal pill case. They are on a key ring with a screw top. I think they were originally used for carrying Nitro pills. I like them because the case is water resistant and pills will not crush or melt. I bought it at CVS at the pharmacy counter about $5.

Just a reminder...it has been a while since I've flown, but I remember being told to keep your meds in their original container if on carry on....prevents questions by baggage screeners.

Since my son takes many pills daily, and most are controlled substances, we ALWAYS have the original bottle with us.... a small sandwich baggie holds all the bottles easily. (I had the pharmacist give me smaller bottles with the script on them for traveling purposes) I keep the whole weeks worth in the baggie and use that to refill each mornings dose in a cute little blue pill box.

The blue box is easier to get in and out of and not as conspicuous (and water proof) This is the way we have done it for 5 years and I have never lost the meds...but we do keep a copy of the script in our room and use a national chain of drugstores so if we do loose it we are covered!

My DD will be going to summer camp in a few weeks and they made a "suggestion" in their orientation packet. (This is a camp for people with disabilities/special needs ONLY so a lot of these kids are on multiple meds.) The camp nurse said you can take you bottled medication to your pharmacy, and the pharmacist can put your medicine in blister packs. (This nurse said most pharmacists charge about $1 for this service.) If you did this, then when you get ready to leave for the parks for the day, just cut/tear the amount you need off of the remaining pack. The pills will still be sealed and you wouldn't have to worry about the pills getting wet.
