The Best Restaurant in WDW and Most Overlooked!

The best restaurant in WDW hands down and not another one in the same league is Victoria and Alberts. Considering it cost me OOP only $50 more than California Grill - a six course 3-hour dining experience. The best!!! Most overlooked IMO is Citricos. One of the signature restaurants that you can usually get a reservation for and is never full. Food, service, and atmospher is outstanding.

often overlooked but I love The Wave at the contemporary.
also went to coral reef with low exectations but really enjoyed it.

I have to agree with Tusker house. They have the best breakfast character meal on property.

The food is amazing and the CM's are incredible. This has become a must do for us for every trip.

Boma (dinner) is my favorite by far but I wouldn't call it overlooked. If anything a lot of people are scared away by what they perceive as exotic food. In reality the food there has been very toned down and Americanized. I've eaten at a lot of African restaurants in many cities and Boma is the most tamed down of them all.

I would say The Wave is the most overlooked. I've heard that the quality has dropped lately but I've always had a good meal there. I'll be eating there in January and will see if the quality fell for myself.

Best - V&A by far. I had THE best meal of my life (so far) there

Overlooked - The Writer's Stop at HS (okay, not really a restaurant but it's got fantastic goodies & it's never crowded!)

I have to agree with the poster who mentioned Trail's End at Ft. Wilderness. They have a great BBQ buffet at one of the best prices on property. The downside is the bus ride to get from the parking lot to the restaurant. But it is well worth the trip. I also am a big fan of lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. It is a quiet, calming break from the chaos of the park and the Pilgim's Feast (turkey platter) is one of my favorite meals.

Another vote for Trail End at Fort Wilderness Campground. I dream of their fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and Mac&Cheese! I prefer taking a boat ride from Wilderness Lodge over the busses.

Sana is also a new favorite.

I'll throw my hat in for Tusker House!

First had dinner here May 2008 when my mom and I struggled for ADRs the first day we got there - Tusker House had just become table services and we had a WONDERFUL meal, a great waitress (who took the time to suggest dishes we should try), and loved the whole feel.

Our first breakfast for our next trip is there and I can't wait!

BOMA! i suggest it to all my disney friends and they have never heard of it!!! (its hard to get them to venture out and try something they dont normally go to) but i have gotten my family to LOVE boma!!!

I agree! My family LOVES Boma!

I think there is also a perception that the food is spicy, too ethnic or doesn't have "normal" food choices and as such people seem to shy away from it. I've never NOT seen available reservations (except for super busy/holiday times). Unfortunately, I think that Tusker House suffers from the same stigma (and the Unofficial Guide didn't help by rating it 1 star (?!!!), but we love it there, too!

The most overlooked restaurant for me was the Maya Grill at the CSR. Very Enjoyable and a pleasant surprise.

I'm going to have to say Brown Derby. Where else can you get lunch at a signature restaurant? (Well, CRT doesn't count...;))

Despite the negative reviews it gets on these boards, we were pleasantly surprised last trip. Great ambiance and service. All 3 courses as well as beverages were astonishingly delicious. A perfect meal/afternoon break! :thumbsup2

THanks for all the suggestions. I have never been to 90% of the ones recommended here. I have been to Brown Derby and we loved it too. My only complaint from there is we had an odd reservation time for lunch, then waited for about 20 minutes, then were seated and not even half the tables were taken. What is UP with that????

I would have to say the Captain's Grille at the YC - had no expectations (especially when it was empty) - but the food was awesome and relatively reasonable by Disney standards!

I could not agree with you more, this one gets my vote for most overlooked. We reluctantly booked an ADR for this place on our arrival day when we stayed at the YC. We did not want to venture away from the resort and this place was convenient. To say we were mildly impressed is an understatement. It has become a must do for us every trip. It's quiet, not overly themed, and has very good food. In fact, I enjoy their steak better than the hyped up restaurant in the Canada Pavilion at Epcot.

If I had to chose my favorite WDW restaurant it would have to be Narcoossee's. I enjoy this place even more than California Grill. We never miss this place when we are there. Love it. :thumbsup2

V&A and nothing else is close.
I think the best "overlooked" is GF Cafe followed by the Wave

The GF Cafe gets my vote. Lovely setting, excellent service, and really awesome food :thumbsup2

I would vote for Sanaa.

Sanaa gets our vote too! We go there every trip! We will be there in Feb for my DD's 8th birthday dinner! I'm not sure I'd describe it as an African restaurant as they describe themselves...because they pretty much serve the food I see in every Indian place I've been to - but the quality of the food, service and atmosphere is outstanding! Try to get there while there's still some daylight left and request a window. You'll be able to view the African wildlife while you dine (I'm thinking that's why there is no Ostrich on the menu).

I also love Tusker House and they have my favorite Character breakfast.

:cool1:
I am a BIG fan of Ohana! Sometimes it's a lengthy process to get over to the Polynesian for the dinner there from other resorts, but it's worth the travel!

They probably were under-staffed and didn't have a server for a designated section. Trust me... If a restaurant has a place to seat guests, they'll take it.

I also love Tusker House, for what it's worth. I'm so glad we went there.

The most overlooked "hidden" treasure is Olivia's at OKW! I also agree about Trail's End Buffet - we love it there and it's now a regular stop for us each trip.

Olivia's is a very special place - as the first DVC property, there are photos of DVC members all over the beachy-themed restaurant. There's always a member special of the night which is a great tasting great deal. The service has never failed to be excellent and the food is superb.

Definitely worth the trip to OKW!
