We are really excited for our "welcome home' trip as new DVC owners at Aulani at Christmas! Hubby and I have been to Oahu many times when in the Navy, but we've only taken the kids one other time. Things have changed a LOT over the past two years, and many restaurants we have eaten at or wanted to go to have now closed.

We will be making many meals in our room, however we will be at the North Shore for one evening for a sunset ride, definitely a meal at Makahiki (if not a breakfast AND a dinner!), a luau at Paradise Cove, and Malasada's from Leonards. However, I would like to have a date night with my spouse one night, and so I'd like your suggestions for a romantically place to eat on the Island. Where are some of your favourite places to eat - either as adults, or with the family?

We didn’t have the chance to try it, but my #1 choice if we went back was House Without a Key. Now THAT looked like the absolute definition of romantic to me. (Although I’m not gonna lie, DH was pretty into the Tahiti dancers at Paradise Cove and the sweaty fire knife guy wasn’t too hard on the eyes either LOL)

We really enjoyed Makahiki dinner, sitting outside and hearing the live music from the patio. There’s no ocean view from there, but we enjoyed it a lot. Breakfast was good too, but dinner was better IMO. (But it’s hard to ask waffles—even red velvet Iron Man ones with coconut syrup—to compete with all the crab claws I can eat….just sayin.’)

If you are up to heading to Waikiki, then I recommend Duke's. If you do go, be sure to get a reservation online via their website (it redirects to OpenTable.)

Turtle Bay had just reopened when we were there and I would check that out. Hopefully Ama Ama reopens by your trip - bc the food and atmosphere were amazing. More family, but lovely is Mina’s fish house at the FS - but some people have mentioned it seemed overpriced to them.

As the person above mentioned - Duke’s is great and kind of captures something nostalgic about Hawaii.

If you are up to heading to Waikiki, then I recommend Duke's. If you do go, be sure to get a reservation online via their website (it redirects to OpenTable.)

I read that Duke’s reservations are booked solid for the next 3 months and people are standing in line for 3 hours for walk ins….

Other ocean views inside/near Waikiki include Hau Tree Lanai, Michel's (Open Table), Morimoto Asia (Open Table reservations available in August, but confirmation of reopening not posted), Signature Prime Steak & Seafood (Open Table at the top of Ala Moana Hotel with nice sunset view, make sure you request it because some tables are facing the mountain), 53 By the Sea (good seafood but expensive!), Mariposa in Ala Moana Shopping Center has a nice view of Ala Moana Beach Park but currently they're only open until 6p. DK Steakhouse has just reopened & is right across from Waikiki Beach, but I did not enjoy their food & it's difficult for me to suggest it without that caveat.

Longhi's is in the Marriott next to Aulani & has a great view & I enjoyed their food for both breakfast & dinner (stick to seafood dishes) & Four Seasons has both Mina's Fish House & La Hiki Kitchen with great views but La Hiki is currently open for breakfast & lunch, not dinner. And as mentioned by PP, Four Seasons is pretty pricey & I think none of their online menus have any prices.

We ate at Morimoto Asia last week and it was great. We sat inside, but the porch was gorgeous - just a small warning for those who have eaten at the Orlando (or any other Morimoto) there is no Sushi. We also all ate at Stripsteak and the food is amazing - not really a view place though
