I will try to do a full trip report when we get back...but wanted to share a few observations and "tips" we learned. We went for 7 days, May 31-June 7th. We'll be driving back for another three days tomorrow....we are currently spending a couple beach days in Wilmington, NC.
Best shoes:
Dh and I were most comfortable in our worn in sneakers with ankle length socks. Dh did wear his Crocs on our AK day and was comfortable, but went back to sneakers after that. Dd15 wore flip flops with no complaints every day. Dd9 alternated between sneakers (Nike) and Keens. Keens were straight out of the box and they have been super comfortable and no blisters or hot spots.
Best cooler offer:
We took the $3 mini-misters from Walmart. FABULOUS!! Not only did they keep us cool for a long time, they entertained Dd9 in lines the whole trip. Well, well worth $3 each!!
Best icecream tip:
Don't do it! We got icecream once, it was melted and making a mess before the kids could eat even a few bites.
Dining plan:
Far too much food! Whew! We are glad that we chose to do it once, but will not be getting it on subsequent trips. We had 14 snack credits leftover when we left. We stocked up on snacks for the road trip. We had more than enough to eat and drink. I will do a dining report soon. We had some really great meals, and a few real losers.
Temps:
We found the middle of the day from 2-4 to be hot, but not unbearable. The few times it rained, we were inside attractions or dinner. We did take afternoon breaks on most days.
Resort:
We stayed at Pop Century and loved it! We were in the 60's, lake view with a view of the Epcot ball. We watched the fireworks from just outside our room on two different nights. They reflected off the lake which was beautiful. Our girls enjoyed the Hippidy Dippidy Pool, on one night for five hours! We loved that the resort did not share buses and never had more than a very short wait for transportation.
When we return, we'll be staying at All Star Movies. We need to do MGM, as that is the one park we did not get to finish. Lines were very manageable except for Soaring. Fast Passes were gone each day before we arrived, and the weight was always at least a 60 minute wait.
Best Disney feature:
Extra morning hours. We did every single thing we wanted to do in Magic Kingdom, before 1pm! We walked onto Snow White, Small World, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Buzz (twice), Stitch (Yuck....never, ever again!) and Philharmagic in one hours time.
That is all I can think of at the moment. We had a great time and found the lines/heat to be very manageable.
