The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Menus - 4/2013: La Hacienda COMPLETE! 7/26

I enjoyed reading about your adventures in food. Thanks for sharing.

Great reviews! I've enjoyed reading them :thumbsup2 I have a question about the meal at La Hacienda. The chorizo on the platter looks to resemble cocktail sausages by the pic. How did they taste? My son can't seem to find anything on the menu he'd like but he just might like those. The kids and I could all 3 share that huge platter easily lol

Hi and thank you for reading! I made the same comment about the chorizo looking like cocktail sausages! I've never seen them in that formation before - usually when I've had it it's chunks sliced from a larger link or ring. They did have the traditional smokey/paprika-y/slightly spicy taste that I'm familiar with in chorizo - not the more hot dog taste of a cocktail frank if that's what he'd be looking for. Good luck - hope you have a great meal there.

Thanks for your help with that!

Day 9, Part 1

This was our last full day:sad: so I tried to get us up and moving at a reasonably early hour to make the most of the day.

We headed into Epcot via the International Gateway and I was anxious to try the Patisserie for breakfast. I remember going here in the "old days" when WS opened at the same time as the rest of the park and I was happy to see breakfast hours return.

Looking at these pictures, I'd say that at least for then, it was still a well kept secret (these were taken around 9:15 a.m.).

DH and I got a quiche and a couple of croissants to share. They had a large selection of Bonne Maman jams in the case but just note that there is a charge for these (I think around $1.50). We expected there would be but I could see how one might think they are included with the croissant. I'm not sure if they had regular jam packets out with the condiments, I didn't look.

Everything was fresh and tasty and I loved the quiet, peaceful atmosphere. I'm not sure if we just happened to hit it at an exceptionally quiet time or if it hasn't taken off yet. My hope going forward is that it's busy enough to sustain breakfast hours yet not so busy to make it a zoo.

After touring for awhile I noticed we were right near the Dole Whip with Rum stand and I realized it was a "now or never" situation, and since it was 11:56 according to the time stamp on my photo, I figured that was close enough to noon to count :rotfl:. So I headed over and got in line for this baby:

WOW! I should say I'm not a Dole Whip fanatic but with the rum it just elevates it to another level! I hope this becomes a permanent fixture.
Where Oh where is the Dole Whip with Rum Kiosk!! I have never seen this.

It was a special booth set up during the Flower and Garden Festival. It was right after you pass through Canada, on the left as you head to Mexico. I'm hoping that it was popular enough that they'll make them available year round (fingers crossed!) :thumbsup2.

Oh darn! This is it?? Waaaaa....

Ok, that would tick me off to have my food forgotten for that long even with a blueberry margarita as compensation! We'll be there next month but it will only be the 2nd time we've been. The first time I did not like my entrée (shrimp tacos) but Em loved her's (chicken something). So we'll see. :)

I didn't know they had that little room behind the hostess area. I'd be disappointed to be seated around Illuminations time and have a table back there. Oh well, I guess appetite may supersede a great view sometimes.

Thanks for sharing your dining adventures!!! Well done. :thumbsup2

great reviews! i've never really considered eating at la hacienda, but that platter looks DELICIOUS! that stinks about the bad service... hopefully it was a one-off thing.

I'll be looking out for your reviews - especially of La Hacienda! Hopefully you won't be seated in the dungeon, errrrr, small room behind the hostess stand:lmao:!

I'm definitely willing to give La Hacienda another shot and am hopeful that we just had a bit of bad luck with the service. The platter was very good so that makes it more "forgivable" ;).

Great reviews. So  that's it's over. The photos are excellent!

I'm sad it's over too:p. Thank you for reading!
