Help me out! I have a few good ides but what are the Best Counter Service places to eat at on The Disney Dining Quick Service plan? I'm trying to make a list of Good ones to try during our August visit :):surfweb:

sunshine seasons in epcot had a lot of choices and the food was good. i have a hard time with counter service at disney, i really wish they would make the food better.

Hmmm, best QS eateries?
In our opinion . . .
. . . Epcot: Sunshine Seasons (maybe the best QS in all WDW)
. . . MK: Columbia House
. . . AK: Flame Tree (good ribs)
. . . DHS: Backlot Epress
. . . DTD: Earl of Sandwich
. . . BB: Lottawatta Lodge
. . . TL: Typhoon Tilly's
. . . Deluxe Resorts: Capt Cook's at Poly
. . . Moderate Resorts: Sassagoula Flatworks at POFQ
. . . Value Resorts: Intermission at ASSMo

NOTE: We are not declaring/rating the quality of the QS eateries.
We really like Sunshine Seasons and do like Flame Tree's ribs.
Other than that, we are simply answering the question of better QS eateries.

Sunshine Seasons at Epcot is our favorite. We also like Cosmic Ray's and Columbia Harbour House (both at MK) and Flame Tree BBQ at AK. We try to avoid QS at DHS if at all possible, although we will eat at Pizza Planet occasionally (mostly because DS can't resist arcade games).

At MK both Pecos Bill and Cosmic Ray have good topping bars if you like burgers. Cosmic Ray also provides large-portion ribs and chicken options. But for the best food, I'd say to take the monorail to either Contempo Cafe in CR or Capt Cooks at the Poly. Love the Pulled Pork sandwich at Capt Cook with the fresh house-made potato chips, plus a Dole Whip for dessert.

At AK, Flame Tree BBQ. Seating is in multiple small pavillions set among the trees; go all the way to the back and sit in one on the water with a wonderful view of Asia and Mt Everest.

At HS, Starring Rolls. 1 CS meal purchases a fresh, ginormous ham or turkey sandwich plus your choice of a large bag of chips or piece of fresh fruit plus a beverage plus a wide array of desserts (we went twice on our last trip; once for the red velvet cupcake and once for the butterfinger cupcake).

At Epcot your cup runneth over. DH particularly likes fish & chips from England but the dessert is pathetic; they just give you one little packaged shortbread cookie. I like the Patisserie in France on a hot day for a sandwich on a long crusty baguette, and you can choose from any of their pastries from dessert. The CS in Morocco gets very good reviews from Dis-ers who have eaten there. Sunshine Seasons is also good and has some more substantial entrees such as ginger beef. But our overall favorite is Norway. The sandwiches are lightly toasted so that the cheese melts. The ham sandwich with cheese, thin apple slices, and apple butter is tremendous. They also give a great choice of sides which includes a salad, a generous fruit bowl, or one of several soups. And the dessert - again, a choice of any of their pastries such as the big soft pretzel with sweet almond icing.

If you want to get out of the parks and try different resorts, POR has a good build-your-own pasta dish but I believe it is at dinner only. And I think the biggest array of choices is at Pepper Market where even at lunchtime you can get a steak or a big slab of ribs. Note that several CS restaurants at WDW have ribs but they are NOT all the same; if ribs are your thing, sample them at multiple locations to find your own favorite.

Best CS IMO:

Morocco's CS in Epcot
POR CS
Sunshine Seasons (Epcot FW)
Columbia Harbor House (MK)
France's CS/Bakery
Mara (AKL)

I'm not a big fan of much of the other CS meals we have had. I very much enjoyed those I've listed.

Fun thread!

MK-I like Cosmic Ray's for variety, but we find it very bland (always order the ribs/ chicken, always wish it had something to it. so very bland). Pecos Bills was a place we finally tried last fall and the fixin's bar was great! Might become a new fave. Columbia Harbour House is nice because of the uncrowded seating upstairs (go to the right and get a window, you can watch everyone walking by right under you) and the food is rather decent. You can get non-fish things too. But our actual fave is Casey's Corner. For whatever reason we like the dogs/ fries combo as adults and my son loves the mini corn dogs. The food always tastes good and it's our late night go-to spot. Plus, you sit on fun bleachers in the back and watch old Disney cartoons. We're probably alone in our love of this place, but there it is!:confused3:banana:

EP-where's not yummy? Honestly, we don't waste lots of time here eating QS as the FS restaurants are so plentiful and awesome. We also tend to eat good protein/ carb breakfasts then snack in afternoon followed by yummy dinner OR eat nice TS lunch then snack(s) for dinner (some portions are just so HUGE). However we really like Kringla Bakeri og (sp?) You can get the sandwich combo with soup--yummy! And the pastries are divine. Germany has good food, but it's your everyday bratwurst kinda thing. We didn't like Morocco's QS, but we just had a day where the food was very dry. Boulangerie Patisserie has good sandwiches too. We found Mexico's San Angel Cantina adequate (but not great), but we have not been back there since the renovation.

DHS-yeah, we don't eat QS here. We'd rather eat at a resort or another park. We like the Sci Fi Diner for the fun. It's a cheaper FS that we usually do off dining plan. We tend to buy snacks here like at Gertie's or Min and Bill's dockside diner.

Animal Kingdom-Flame Tree Barbecue. However, if you want inside air-conditioning comfort go for Pizzafari. Restaurantosaurus is fine too. We found Yake and Yeti QS to be sub par. Here comes another we don;t eat QS here a lot: we prefer to start the day early at Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House and eat a late lunch out of the park. :rolleyes1

DTD-Wolfgang Puck express was yummy! And huge portions. Fave!:woohoo:

Resorts: (limited to places we've really eaten in)
Wilderness Lodge Roaring Forks--not very yummy, not even breakfast
Poly: yummy
All Star Movies World Premiere: very yummy with lots of choices
Saratoga Springs Artist's Palette: very yummy flatbreads, prefer breakfast here though
Old Key West Good's: very limited in offerings but very good, eat by pool
Caribbean Beach Old Port Royale: lots of variety, but when we went the quality was meh
Animal Kingdom Mara: yummy!

Blizzard Beach:
Avalunch ha very good dogs
Lottawotta Lodge had serious service issues when we were there, but you know that changes.

HTH!

btw, I was typing FS to mean full service then I realized after I posted I meant TS for table service, whoops!

To me, Flame Tree in AK, Tangierine Cafe in Epcot, and Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich in DTD.

1. AK - Yak & Yeti counter-serve has very good food IMO + Safari Amber Ale :)

2. AK - Another vote for Flame Tree BBQ

3. EP - The new counter serve at Mexico is MUCH better than before

4. MK - Fully agree with others about Pecos Bill's & Cosmic Rays :thumbsup2

MK - Peco's Bill (amazing burger and good fries...looks like so good variety of choices too)

EPCOT - Can't go wrong anywhere here but Tangierine Cafe at Morocco is amazing. I dream about the chicken and lamb schwarma platter.

My all time favorite is Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD!

Definitely Wolf Gang Puck Express!! the one in Marketplace is the one ive been to, and i hear that's the better one out of the two wolfgang puck express!!!!!...The food was on a different level, felt like a table service meal not a counter service one!!!:thumbsup2

EP - Tangierine Cafe or we love Yorkshire County Fish and Chips (with a Blue (beer) from Canada)

DTD - Earl of Sandwich

AK - Flame Tree BBQ

MK - Pekos Bills

HS - not really great CS here - Maybe Starring Rolls. Or we like sitting at the counter at 50's (it's first come first serve) - but that's for a full meal.

Magic Kingdom: Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe.

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons & Electric Umbrella.

Hollywood Studios: ABC Commissary & Backlot Express.

Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree BBQ & Pizzafari.

Downtown Disney Marketplace: Earl of Sandwich.

Contemporary: Contempo Cafe.

Grand Floridian: Gasparilla's Grill & Games.

Boardwalk Inn/Villas: Boardwalk Bakery.

Epcot- Sunshine Seasons- Best CS at WDW. Great variety, good portions, and great value if on DDP.

AK- Flametree BBQ- Yum. The two BBQ types on the side are so good!

DHS- Um, I've never eaten CS here.

MK- Pecos Bills (I really like the Taco Bowl even though it is VERY cafeteria-ish) or Cosmic Rays (solely for variety)
