The Beatles Get Back

Saw the first part. We enjoyed it. Our DD uses our Netflix acct so we use her Disney+ occasionally. Interesting seeing Yoko and Linda in there.

I love the Beatles, I wish I had Disney + so I could see it.

Honestly, I would order D+ for a couple months to watch it then. I'm not a big Beatles fan(I like all music genres) but like most of their stuff. While there are some slow points because of the general way it's filmed, watching songs like Get Back or Let it Be being birthed right before your eyes is mind-blowing. And the quality of the film is fairly stunning as well ...hard to imagine it was 60+ years ago.

I've got the first episode on now. Just watching John Lennon makes me want to cry.

Agreed. I never knew he was such a goofball, which helped me relate to him so much more and I had the same thought as he was stolen far too early....

I think, over time, I've always picked John Lennon as my favorite Beatle, but there's been times it's been Paul. I had a George phase too. Loved Ringo when I was like 5 years old. But overall, it's always been John Lennon for me. I was in high school when he was assassinated and it's been one of the "famous" deaths that has hit me the hardest.

The format is different. Much less of a documentary and more of just a free-for-all jam session.

Yes. And I think it's important because you get a much better feel for who they actually are/were. Can't WAIT for the next episode to release ...when is that anyway?

Each episode was released one at a time, Thursday to Saturday. So they should all be up. I was surprised how Paul (my favourite) was such a big part of the writing and directing. I always thought all the songs were a collaboration of Lennon/McCartney. But apparently that was their agreement. I read that John was so in love with Yoko at the time that he wasn’t as involved in that period. I am so impressed all these years later of their talent.

Ahhhhh ..that explains it. LOL

The Let It Be sessions were only 52 years ago. Part one did have footage from the early 60's which was amazing to see.

Well at the beginning Lennon was more of the "creative director" but that eventually evolved into both Lennon and McCartney collaborating. McCartney controlling a lot of the direction of the album is not that surprising. A lot of his songs are on Let It Be and Abbey Road. Lennon was focusing more on solo projects and Yoko.

Watched all three parts, Peter Jackson is the man!

Watching now and this is the most amazing documentary I've ever seen because it shows the birth of so many songs in a matter of days, astonishing.

It seems Paul McCartney just breaths out incredible music, the lack of recent hits is probably just poor selection for sharing... just WOW.
