So last week, my BF and I went into 5/3 to make both of our accounts joint. His is primary, mine to be used as a savings. My debit card was moved over to his account. I had 6 pending transactions on Friday night and I left the money in the account to cover those. Tuesday morning, I check my accounts and what do I find??? One account with all kinds of money in it and the primary with -$53. When everything posted the night before, all of my pending transactions were switched over to the other account causing it to go negative. Once the bank opened I was able to call, called the wrong branch but got a nice man to help me. He verified with the woman that did all of this Saturday that we were there. She turned out to be the branch manager. She failed to tell me this would happen or I would have transferred the money to cover it! She also told me we couldn't use the 2nd account as Overdraft protection, the nice man was able to do that for us as well. The next morning, $222 in overdraft fees post to the account, it takes until 11am to reverse them. He tells me he will keep an eye on it to see if anymore come out. I continue using the card as he tells me to. THis morning, another $259 is taken PLUS the money in the other account for OD protection! I'm still waiting on those to be reversed. He promises that there are no more charges coming out tomorrow. I don't know what else to do but wait, I just had to vent to someone other than my BF. I'm about to scream as I have been without my money for 3 days!

So sorry this happened. Hope it's all better really soon!

Seems like in hindsight, it would have been better to open new accounts, leaving any money needed in the old accounts, and then closed them at the end of the month. moving any residual money, once all outstanding charges were paid.

I called again and he said he was awaiting approval because of the amount. Within minutes it was reversed with the exception of $10. So, I have to call yet again. This is the only issue I have ever had with them, or I would change banks. :(

Luckily it sounds like it's pretty well straightened out now..:thumbsup2

I do have a question though.. Why was the decision made to go with "joint" accounts - considering you aren't married? Obviously it's none of my business - and maybe it's just more of a case where I'm "thinking out loud" - but I personally would never mix my money with anyone I didn't have some sort of legal binding to..:confused3

Regardless - I hope this is the end of your bank woes..:goodvibes

Yeah it should be all taken care of now.

We live together, we pay bills together, it makes sense to have it all together in one place to pay bills from. Neither of us are going anywhere, we just haven't made it legal yet.
