The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

What seating for dinner does everyone have out of curiosity?

We have late seating. We really like it. We get to see the early show and when Mackenzie is done with dinner and she's impatient to get going, the kids club counselors come to the door and pick her up. It lets us finish dinner at our pace and she gets to go have fun.

We also have late seating. And I have a question about that.. since we will be seeing the show first, is there enough of a time gap in between the show and dinner to go get ready for dinner? Like, for pirate night, you don't literally wear a pirate costume to the show do you? Or, if DH is going to wear a jacket and tie to dinner, I doubt he'll want to sit with that on through the show also, but I'm not sure what the time allowance is in between.. I hope I'm making sense  :upsidedow

Got Mickey Mail yesteray!:cool1:

and DS passport came today  Now everyone is officially ready to cruise!! Everything is falling into place. Now DD and I need to go do a little shopping. Perfect excuse for a few new clothes :thumbsup2

Countdown is on and I know the next few weeks are going to fly by. Next big event is to move DD home from college then I can breathe a little before we leave.

With 4 people in a stateroom, we get ready before the show. There really isn't time between the show and dinner to get us all ready.

As far as Pirate night, we (and a LOT of other people) wear pirate gear to dinner. pirate:

QOTD: Has the packing bug hit you yet? How early do you start packing? Any tips anyone want to share?? Any overflowing suitcases anyone wants to show??

We typically only start packing a few days before we leave. We'll set things out and then pack a day or two before.

we have main seating as well. so how does kids club thing work that you speak of.

When you have late seating, at some time during late in dinner (I can't remember exactly when but we will ask when we get her wristband), the kids club counselors come to the front doors of each resturaunt with a clipboard. Somehow this is always timed to when the kids have eaten but the adults are not finished. They wear bright yellow tops. You take the kids over and they take them back to kids club for activities.

I recommend you do NOT do it on your first Animator Palette night (I won't tell you why).

It is a great way to finish your dinner in peace because some times the kids can get bored as the adults finsih. They go off an have fun.

Well- I have kind of started packing already. Actually, planning on what to pack so that I can begin shopping for missing items (new flip flops for all, sunscreen, evening clothes, etc.) I will probably start packing on May 14th; with 3 kids and all of their laundry i have to get a leg up :)

so I say aarrgh and not in a good piratey way. My DH and I have been trying to potty train our soon-to-be 3 year old daughter since MLK day. She for the most part has it, but still has 2-3 accidents a day and has to be prompted to go. I told my DH that we may have to face facts that she just may not get it in the next 30 days. :(

I called DCL and they confirmed that she must be totally independent with the potty in order to go to the Oceaneer's Club. When I asked about prompting, she said to talk with the counselors on the ship. I've tried bribing this girl, rewarding, praising, and scolding. Today I finally told her that if she pees in her panties and not the potty that I would start taking back the rewards that she earns when she goes. So if she earns a reward and then alter in the day she has an accident, she has to give it back. She didnt like that and is seeming to do better, but it's still early.

I'm so frustrated :worried: I have even looked into reusable swim diaper/training pants that look like underwear but don't leak. I have Flounder's Reef time scheduled, but I was really hoiping not to use it.

Any suggestions from moms that have been there done that? She is my third and has been my toughest-

On a positive note- my kid FE gifts are just about done. Room ones are next :)

are you using pull ups? if so take them away. took them away from Zander and was fully trained within 2 days

I agree with above - take the pull ups away. Also, maybe show her the online videos or DVD on the cruise ship and explain to her that the kids club won't be available to her without being trained. Maybe even (gently) explain that she may be bigger than the other kids in the nursery. Maybe "you're a big girl, and you want to be with the other big girls, right?".

Girls are harder. My oldest was very interested in being independent and went on her own right away. My younger one wasn't so easy. :scratchin We also used the reward system. It was harder but we prevailed. I think it finaly got to the point where she had to see that her YOUNGER cousins were trained and she wasn't.

You may not be able to leave her at the kids club by herself but I think she can still experience some things on their schedule with either parent present to manage the bathroom. This may be nice for things like Goofy's sleepover or Princess lessons with Cinderella. You may not want to tell her this though.

I sometimes changed before the show but there was plenty of time after the show to change before dinner, especially if there are only two of you. Can't speak to more than two people trying to manage it.

Plus I was Marine Corps trained so I can take a shower, change clothes, shien my shoes and have a pre-dinner drink in less than 5 minutes. :lmao: DW still doesn't know how I can do that...

Your DH will have plenty of time after the show to return to your cabin and get his jacket.

The cruise is coming so quickly!!!

We have late seating for the first time. I think I may have to nap!!

K:)

We've late seating as well. I don't like to eat that late, but for a week I can adapt. I just have a snack about 4pm to tide me over.

We did late seating on our first two cruises without kids, but since we've had kids we've always done main seating. As they get a little older we will probably go back to late seating.

Thanks for all the advice- She doesn't wear pullups during the day, unless we are going to be in the car for a long time and when she goes to sleep. Someone (who has worked with that age group) suggested giving her the choice- she can be a big girl or a baby, that it's up to her. She knows what to do and how to do it. I'm gonna up the panites and if that means washing her carseat more often or covering it in a plastic bag, then so be it. We watch the DCL promotional video at lease once a week. I might watch it again with her this morning while the older boys are at school. The promise of the oceaneer's club was enough for my middle boy, but she is definitely my daughter; fiercely independent and stubborn.

31 days....

We have late dining and are staying at country inn and suites the night before. We aren't leaving the car there though - we have a reservation at park n cruise.

Hey everyone! I'm around, just not really "here"....the end of the semester is upon us! This weekend I went shopping with my mom and got A LOT of new stuff for the trip! Like A LOT! which brings us to today's question of the day, which I might turn into questions of the week, because I know its hard to answer a question everyday, but if someone else wants to post a question on days you don't see me do it, I'm fine with that!

QOTD Is there any special item you are buying just for the cruise? A new dress, new bathing suit, new hat or maybe even just a new toothbrush?! :rotfl: What new item are you the most excited about?

Bonus Disney QOTD - This type of weather always makes me think of being in the parks, and when I think of the parks my mind inevitably turns to food! For those of us who have been, what is your favorite thing to eat in the parks? For those who haven't, do you have an item you would love to try? Or maybe what's your favorite meal that you make at home?? (Can you tell its breakfast time and I'm hungry?? :rotfl2:)

I came on here trying to think of a QOTD and failed, so I'm glad you did!

I got 3 new bathing suits (I'll prob just bring 2 though) and 2 cover-ups to go with. I'm more excited about the suits than the body going in them, but that's ok, it's vacation! ;)

My and my husband's favorite snack is the jalapeno-stuffed soft pretzel at AK. It's just one of those little snack stands just off Discovery Island, but they're AWESOME! And truth be told, I've never had a Mickey Bar:mickeybar or a Dole Whip, but they're on my list too!

1. I bought stuff for Fish Extenders. I love shopping for that stuff. I found some really cool things this time for the little ones~!

2. At Disney World - Dole Whip (and we all say Whip like Stewie). On the ship - Mickey bars.

I bought a new dress for semi-formal night. I plan on wearing it to a wedding in June as well. I also bought so much stuff for my FE gifts my DH said enough already your suitcase is bulging at the seams.

Our favorite is not actually one specific food but going to the Rain Forest Cafe to eat. We enjoy the atmosphere. I too, have never had a Mickey Bar, I guess I will have to try one.
