I forgot to meantion that this will be our second cruise ever (both Disney). We will be celebrating our 9th wedding annivesary a little early. It actually is in August, but we like to travel in May.

We're committed now. Just bought our airline tickets. I'd have done it sooner but my daughter was waiting for confirmation on what dates she could take off from work and DW wanted us all to travel together.

...I think the 4th night is pirate night. Night 3 is dress up (I think).

Pirate Night is on Day 4 after we leave Nassau.

The Itinerary page on the website didn't indicate anything special for Day 3 (our Sea Day) but since traditionally sea days are the formal and semi-formal nights, it would stand to reason that this will be our night to dress a little nicer than usual for dinner. We usually like to get all fancied up but I think on this cruise we may scale back a bit since its not an actual formal night.

Is anyone running the 5k on castaway?

My mother-in-law and I are going to do it.

I'm recovering from some minor surgery now but have plenty of time to get whipped into at least moderate shape.

We were on the Dream two weeks ago. I Agree RP wasn't that magical. We liked the tech on the new ship, the aqua duck and Pink! the champagne bar. But the piano bar on the classics ships and the over all charm of a smaller ship and less people on it was missed.

Basically we concluded we love all the ships for different reasons and they will likely have different routines crushing on each of them irrespective of the intnerary.

The best part of Nassau is the Dunkin Donuts on shore. Not a fan of the coffee in the ship.

I'm starting to consider doing the 5K. Never done it on CC before, but it sounds fun and a great way to burn some of my calories since I really like to eat and eat and eat on Disney cruises.

Also, I feel the same way about the Dream - absolutely gorgeous ship and fun water areas but I found the tables in the restaurants to be much closer together and the waiters to be more busy on the Dream. We've been on the Magic four times before and we LOVE it. Can't wait for our trip! Just three months away! Woo hoo!!

I have a question for those of you who have called and gotten your dinner rotation already:

Were you told it was definite? Or were you told it was simply a request?

I just talked to a rep who seemed very unfamiliar...or new. I explained what I was hoping to do, and he set me up for my dinner rotation...for restaurants on the Dream

Poor guy, I felt bad, but I had to explain that those restaurants were not on the Magic. Anyway, it took him about 15-20 minutes of putting me on hold, but he finally came back and said, "OK, you're PC, L, AP, PC, and L...but nothing is guaranteed".

I don't even know if that's one of the 5-night rotations or not, but I thanked him and that was that.

Fingers crossed.

Hi everyone,

Sorry we've not kept up with the crusie forum as much as we hoped too. We had a rough January. We had to put our cat to sleep. She was pretty much our child. Things are getting better though.

So sorry to hear about this. We have had to put down several pets due to illness and old age - it is a very hard thing to do.

I requested a dining rotation for our TA and was told she would put the request in - but it was just a request.

I have been planning on doing the 5K. I was doing really well and actually jogged (slow slow turtle crawl jog) the entire distance on my treadmill a few weeks ago and then - well.. I started slacking off. I really need to get in gear. I am in no way shape (literally) or form to go fast and I don't care. I just want to be able to say I did it!

Can't believe in just a few short hours I can log into DCL website and start booking things. I have been so busy working on designing a new website for my photography business I almost forgot that my "day" was quickly approaching.

Did we ever decide on a cut off date for the FE's? I am NOT a crafty person so I am going to have to get started on stuff soon if I am going to get some decent gifts together.

I got the last cabana on Serenity Bay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooooooo excited!

Logged in.. checked for the cabana - nothing.. all gone. So I went and got Palo dinner.. and brunch.. and the excursion we wanted for Nassau. Then just by chance I checked on the cabana again and THERE IT WAS!!!! Snatched that up immediately.

Meant to be???

I think the dining rotation is more of a request. Disney is pretty good about honoring these requests though. When we go to DW and on our Dream cruise last year, they honored all of our request. If you don't get what you want you can always try to change it once on board the ship.

I was able to book a couple of excursions for us and our Palo brunch tonight! When we went on the Dream last year, the Gold and Silver Castaway club members were saying brunch was all booked before they even got to it. Needless to say being our first cruise there was nothing for brunch once we got to the 75 day mark. I had to book us once on the ship. I remember stalking the Palo area until they opened to book our brunch there. This was so much easier, and now we can just enjoy ourselves on embarkation day! Hopefully, there will also be some spots left for the 1st time crusiers too. I highly recommend the brunch.

As for Key West I think we our going to book the Olde Town Trolly ourselves. If you do the one offered as an excursion you don't get to get on and off. If you book it on your own you can get on and off. If anyone else wants the link let me know.

We thought about doing the trolley ourselves too but decided on an electric car instead. It sounded like a lot of fun. I hope we don't have a hard time finding places to park - but even if we do - just driving it around will be a blast.

Just finished online check in - went perfectly. Got a port arrival time of 11:00-11:30.

Now somehow I need to unwind so I can go to sleep. Tomorrow we are off to renew our youngest DDs passport.

I did the excursions last night before bed and the online check in this morning. For some reason at 1:00 AM, I could book excursions and my spa stuff but not my online.

No matter, I'm headed to work AGAIN and the Online booking is done.

I also booked the transportation.

Again, if anyone is staying near OLD KEY WEST and wants to ride/share with (DIS SPONSER) FL TOURS, we'd be willing to share ride with cost. Its less expensive than DCL Transport *and* we get to arrive at the terminal when we want.

When we used DCL transfers from Beach Club, we didn't arrive on the ship until 2:30. They were closing Cabana's while we were starving and waiting for something to eat. We're trying this out.

We would be happy sharing a van with others! We are doing OLD KEY WEST before the ship and ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE - KIDANI after the ship.

I dressed my DD up (5) last cruise in a simple pirate costume and she had a lot of fun. However, some of the inspired adults really go all out. I've been on one where someone did an amazing job dressing up as Captain Jack. There was a huge pirates gathering before any of the official cruise festivities. I personally was amazed that these adults must have brought an extra suitcase to fit their hats, boots, and other costume gear in just for pirate night. But it was great fun to watch!!

I've seen everything from a full-blown pirate outfit that would give the ship's Captain Jack a run for his money, to nothing more than a bandana tied around the head.

DW has an inexpensive Halloween pirate outfit she likes (and doesn't take up much room in the suitcase), whereas I just wear a pirate themed (skulls and crossbones) aloha shirt with some similar beads I found in New Orleans a few years ago.

I've toyed with the idea several times of putting together a Barbossa outfit but when I realize it will take up an entire suitcase to transport it all, I always reconsider.

Bottom line, no matter how much or little you dress up you won't be out of place.
