This thread is inspired by the fact that I had to call the cops on one of our neighbors this morning..... A long story short, this guy loves to either walk his dog, or just let it run around (with him standing right there) and allow the dog to poop on everyones lawn, and then just walk away without picking it up.
The last time he did this on our lawn, my DH was standing right there - the neighbor let his dog do its business, and just walked away. When DH asked him if he planned on picking it up, the neighbor said, "Oh yeah, I'll be right back for it." He never came back. So this morning, when the same exact thing happened, DH went outside, and asked him to pick it up. When he got the same responce, my DH came back inside, got a bag, picked up the poo, walked it over to the neighbors house, and left it on his door step (Something several people in the neighborhood have done many times). The neighbor saw this, and started yelling, cursing, and threatened him with his dog. (A little background on this guy - he is millitary, I think an Army Cop - now ofcourse there are thousands of great millitary people out there - this guy just isn't on of them - he thinks he above the law.) So anyway, I called the police - the came, filed a report, and thats it.

So what about you - what are your bad neighbor stories??

ETA - Most of my neighbors are great - there just always has to be one bad apple in the bunch!!

I once had neighbors who turned their backyard into a mini dirt bike track. They would spend the afternoon riding around and around and around and around and around....

And the worst part was my husband was working nights at the time. So, he was trying to sleep during the day.

Makes me glad I live out in the middle of nowhere. It's a good hike to my neighbors. And when they do come over, rarely do their dogs jump out of their trucks.:thumbsup2

Me too!

We only have one neighbor in sight, and they are very quiet and keep to themselves. Their dog stays in their yard.

Before we moved to this house, DH and I lived in a townhouse that was in a college-y area of town; of course, we were college students too, so nothing against them, but some people felt the need to, I dunno, play their electric guitars at 3 am!!! Our neighbors HATED me because I called the cops on them several times, but HELLO- don't play your guitar at 3 am at full volume! Or have parties that last until 4 am! I was working FT, going to school FT, and had NO TIME for people being so stupid and inconsiderate.

Oh, I have tons of bad neighbor stories.

We have a next door neighbor that used to have 2 dalmations that hated women. We had a party in our back yard. Only a 4 foot picket fence separated the yards. The homeowners left for 3 hours and left the dogs outside during almost the entire time of our party. The dogs barked for 3 hours! We tried everything to make them stop. When the neighbors came home they were not at all apologetic for ruining our party.

Or there was the neighbor that everyone called the cops on at 12:30 am because of screaming and cursing coming from their front porch. It sounded like a serious fight. The neighbor was incensed and yelled at the cops "Don't you have better things to do? Go catch some murderers." Well, the cops busted one of the people for cocaine in the trunk of their car. Needless to say they were gone by the next month when the neighbors called the landlord.

Ahhh. Life in a city. Always interesting. :)

when we lived in an apartment, our upstairs neighbor decided it would be prudent to buy a treadmill, instead of spending money going to the local gym. um, yeah, that was fun when he decided to run, considering we had wood floors and it felt like the ceiling was going to collapse. luckily, we moved out a couple of months after he bought it.

and here i was even afraid to exercise using exercise videos because i thought i was being too loud working out to the windsor pilates cardio videos. i wish i knew he didn't care about noise, i could have been working out and not veg-ing on the couch, i probably would be a lot skinnier. :lmao:

we live in a condo complex now and we are very fortunate to have nice neighbors there.

Okay, I have my fair share of bad neighbor stories....but to call the cops because someone's dog took a crap on your lawn?!?

I get that it's your property. I get that it's probably a violation of some town ordinance. I get that it's as annoying as sin...BUT Seriously, don't the police in your town have more important things to worry about?!

IMHO, it's things like this that neighbors should work out on their own.

Everyone is going to Laugh at my complaint but it drives me crazy. We had new people move in across the street they are ok, 3 kids 1 is a sweetheart, the other 2 are loud mouth brats. But the big thing they keep their trash cans sitting out all the time, no one else in the whole subdivision does this, it looks like crap.

I know its not much but it drives me nuts. Other than that I like all my neighbors.

She said her husband already tried to work this out and the neighbor didn't comply. I don't blame her for being upset.

I'm not going to laugh as this drives me crazy as well. It is very rude.:headache:

Maybe you missed the part that said the neighbor THREATENED them with his dog. (I am assuming he threatened an attack!) I would call the police too.

I never blamed her for being upset either...I just thought it was a little ridiculous to call the police.

I think she meant her DH called the police because the ex-military dude threatened him. I would call the police as well. As for the crap, I would put it in a pile on his front porch and let HIM clean it up.

In the summer, my neighbors had a party every night after they got off of work (midnight) and would go until 5:00-6:00am. I wake up at 5:00 to go to work, so a few times my DH knocked on the door and they apologized and stopped for the night. After 2 months of this happening every day we finally called the HOA and found out there was several other complaints. They were finally kicked out while we were on our Honeymoon, and one of our neighbors watched them steal our pink chair from our front porch. We live in a townhome setting.

Oh my God - my dh this something similar a few years ago. We have a neighbor who used to let her dog out two/three times a day. He went all over everyone yard. People put notes in her mail box, one neighbor would blow a horn everytime their dog was on their lawn, etc.

My dh saw him poop on our lawn once so he got a shovel and placed it on their lawn. They did not give us a problem. They do not have the dog anymore. Don't know what happened. They have a little one now and is always on a leash.

Someone else around the block that we know - her children walk the dog and they never have a bag. We have told them over and over that we don't like coming out of our cars and stepping on it. One time I saw the young girl and the dog pooping. I said - I hope you are picking it up and she said, I will come back with a bag. I said, Hold on and ran in the house to get her a bag. We have told them over and over.

If you read the whole post the neighbor started cursing and threatning the husband with bodily harm....I'm thinking that's why they called the cops...not because of the poop.

OT but someone on my drive home from work on a somewhat busy 2 lane road lets their dog poop in the middle of the road...guess they figure they won't have to clean it up since it's in the road - totally gross.

OP - you did the right thing - you asked nicely more than once and gave the neighbor exactly what he deserved - his poop. Why should you repetedly have to clean up poop from a neighbor dog?

we'd be hated....sometimes our trash cans are out a bit too long but hey - that's why we don't live in a deed restricted community.

We've had a couple bad neighbors, but what is nice is that when you rent, you only have to wait out your lease to move.

But the worst one, probably, was actually the apartment building manager in our favorite apartment (that we actually want to move back to, someday). The building was made as condos, and is small. Each unit has its own address b/c of the condo thing, so it's not like typical apartments.

The manager was a 25ish year old guy, and when my then roomie and I moved in, he was in a relationship. He lived next door to us. Then he and the girlfriend broke up during a series of LOUD arguments outside in the wee hours, and after that he proceeded to try to forget her by drinking heavily. The person above him moved out, and he decided he wanted that apartment (bigger top floor), and my roomie decided we HAD to move to his apartment (bigger than ours). He let us. The drinking continued.

Then my roomie realized the new place was too much money and left me high and dry, and I chose to ask then-fiance to move in (not what I wanted but I was stuck). The manager's drinking started to get more and more, and he had parties constantly.

Hubby was only 29 at the time, but he was forced to take the Old Man role by telling the apartment manager to quiet down repeatedly. The guy was always embarrassed later, and always complied, but come on...the apartment manager (paid with free rent and satellite...he had a full time job on top of the management duties) should not be doing this!

Then one night while we tried to sleep, their party (if kept to their living room it was OK b/c it was all the way at the other end of the apartment) spilled outside, basically above our heads. Then they started saying goodbye, loudly and protactedly. Finally the guy leaving left, and the manager closed the door.

I couldn't sleep and was watching through the peephole, so I saw this guest come over in front of our door, stand over our tiny patch of lawn, and start unzipping! Right before he whipped it out to pee, I SLAMMED on the door and said in my deepest, loudest dog training voice "STOP". The dude was so scared and nearly zipped himself into his pants.

Hubby went up and told the manager to shut up for the night, and he did.

It was quiet for a little while, and then now-hubby and I had some trouble and he moved out (while still paying his half of the rent, good man)...one night while I was sleeping in the living room (couldn't sleep in the bedroom all alone) I heard another party go out on the balcony off their living room, I heard just the manager's voice yelling at people inside his place, and suddenly there was the noise of peeing. Off his balcony. Which was over ours.

He peed all over our balcony furniture. :scared1:

Since then-taking-a-break now-hubby and I were still talking, I told him about it and he had a serious talk with the manager. My lease was up at that point and there were other reasons to leave but we said it was b/c of the manager. Manager gave us our FULL deposit back out of his pocket, took the stuff from our balcony to the dump on his own (it was cheap stuff and even if I could have cleaned it I didn't want to), and then later we got a check for the refundable deposit from the owners of the place.

The manager has since been fired and they have a professional company running things.

So that's my bad neighbor story!
