The BAD About Our Recent Trip...

We noticed a lot of misinformation about the dining plan. Some places said we "had to" get desert or they couldn't ring up the meal and other places were able to. It was paid for of course so we didn't mind other than a lot of the food went to waste because we couldn't eat it all. Maybe it was the way the cash registers were set up differently but I suspect it was more of a training issue.
With the tip being built in (and I am assuming a fixed percentage as opposed to a fixed dollar amount) it may have been a case of padding the bill.

I'm sure they were talking about counter service desserts, because the same thing happened to us. A couple of them just about tried to make us take a dessert we knew we couldn't have eaten, and didn't want to carry around with us. But this was at the counter service restaurants only, leading me to think their registers were set up to account for beverage, entree and dessert on the dining plan.

We were there the week before you and thank goodness I didn't see anyone pee in public because I saw rude behavior but I never said anything to anyone since I know it is bound to happen with that many people in one place, even if it is WDW. I would have had to say something about peeing in public however. I saw lots of things that people complain about but for every 1 person using a stroller like a weapon I saw 10 walking nicely. I saw a few line cutters, cussers, a lot of people pushing in rides that have the pre-staging rooms like RNRC. I did see something that was rude but in a way funny. We were in line waiting to get into MK one evening and there was a woman a who was obviously impatient at the lines going through the turnstiles and changed lines a couple of times and was behind me and then moved to the line next to me just as the CM started having trouble with the finger scanner. There were 2 people ahead of her and she started making rude comments loudly about "dumb..." people. This really pretty, sweet looking petite girl who was probably outweighed by 100 lbs by this foul woman put her ticket in and like the person before her it wouldn't work. The woman YELLED, "You dumb... you're not putting your ticket in right." I don't think that was the case. The CM had to override it to let her in. She politely said thank you to the CM and turned around to the woman and said, "And if anybody behind me wants to make any more comments I'm going to bomp 'em in the nose." The woman said nothing. I don't condone threatening violence but this woman needed to be quiet. And I had to bite my tongue because it was just priceless. :rotfl:

We just returned from 10 days/9 nights at POFQ and BWV. By no means was our trip bad...it was great. But there were a few things that folks should look out for. I'll be posting "the GOOD" later on, but here are some of "the BAD" things we noticed on our recent trip.

--- People in general are a lot noisier. No one quiets down when a CM talks. Folks talk constantly through things like Wishes and Illuminations. There were many times that my brothers turned to people and said "Shhhhh!" very loudly so people would quiet down. And don't even get me started on people peeing in public (I've posted another thread about this disgusting sight I witnessed.

--- Buses to PO were awful. This hotel always had the longest lines for the four nights we stayed there. Getting to places was fine, but getting home was awful. We ended up driving to places after much of our group waited 45 minutes for a bus at Typhoon Lagoon.

--- Wait time boards were really off. At MGM, our group trekked down to TOT when the wait board posted a 13 minute wait (which is a walk-on in TOT talk). When we arrived it was a 45-minute wait. At MK, Big Thunder was listed as a 10-minute wait. We trekked across the park and were greeted with a 40-minute wait. Now, I can understand a difference of 10, even 20, minutes. But considering that there are people who are constantly changing these things, this was completely uncalled for. You would think they could be reasonably right, but these wait times were completely off!

--- Lying CMs. One of my brothers was incredibly upset that a CM told him no FastPasses were available during evening EMH at MGM. So, we did One Man's Dream prior to closing and then at around 10:30 walked down to RnRC and TOT only to find FastPasses just running out for the two attractions. My brother was so angry at the CM that lied to him (perhaps, and likely, unknowingly) that my brother wanted to report him.

Now, none of this ruined our vacation in the least. But, it did make us shake our heads a few times.

Anyone else been recently and noticed anything "BAD" about WDW?

I've never really experienced anything "bad" about WDW. The worst thing that's ever happened to me was my first trip (5 years old) the MK Skyway was still running. We got in line and waited about 45 minutes to get on. I was teh first person in line and they shut it down. That's really depressing to a 5 year old. I also get annoyed when people feed or chase the wild birds and such at the AK. There are signs posted clearly stating "Please do not feed the animals" and what do these people do? They feed them. I've seen french fries to bits of hot dog. the only place I don't mind is at Fort Wilderness, where they have those vending machines giving out food suitable for the ducks and birds.

people who don't give up their seat on the bus for a mother/father holding a sleeping child. I know that I do, but sometimes if I am already standing or sitting in the way back, I just watch the people sitting close to the front, avoiding eye contact with the parent looking for a seat. the ole "if i can't see them, they can't see me" trick. come on now, it's what a 10 minute ride? sure, it's uncomfortable to stand, and you feel like you might fall over into someone's lap, but you're in Disney people! be nice!

When we went to Italy we saw a few people (none children) actually pee right on the sidewalk. One lady just moved over to the edge of the sidewalk (BUSY sidewalk) lifted her dress a little...did this squat kind of thing and peed right there. Gross...yes. My cousin says he's seen this in other countries as well...so I guess maybe if those people go on vacation to Disney they would do exactly what they do at home.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I know exactly what you mean. I've had some pretty crowded bus rides where there have been families seperated (one parent takes the stroller so the other can take the kid and save space) and nobody has gotten up to offer the parent with the child a seat. I'll usually get up, but I've got bad ankles so some days I just can't physically. The worst bus ride I've ever had involved a VERY drunk man in a viking hat singing a rather raunchy version of Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da with a crammed bus of children. I'll never forget that. I constantly remind myself of it everythime I think someone is getting annoying. I think 'They're not as bad as the Viking'.

I cannot find the thread about the shocking things seen at disney. Can someone please help? thanks :surfweb:

I was upset to see the number of parents who ignored the age range for Pooh's Playgound at MK. Older children who were climbing on and jumping off the table, climbing through the windows, etc. were setting a bad example for the younger visitors. Younger children copied their actions. In ToonTown, older children were running wildly through both of the playgrounds. I never saw their parents. These older children were racing through the playground bumping into younger children, climbing up the slide the wrong way, yelling loudly, etc. Younger children were in tears several times during the short time we were there because these older children ran into them. We tried slowing them down, but they simply ran to the ship's playground with the same rude behavior. Perhaps Disney needs to establish a measuring system like the ones used on rides---only this one would show maximum height allowed for entrance by children.

Did your brother get to report the Cast Member who lied to him about there being no more Fast Passes?

No. It wasn't any big deal, really. We were disappointed, but it's likely that the guy just didn't know. He had no reason to actually lie, but we decided to call him the lying cast member anyway.

I guess my complaint wasn't so much about the guy lying, but about the fact that this was a simple question that someone handing out EMH wristbands should know. It was disappointing, but not vacation-ruining.

I've not seen the peeing thing, but the wait times recently have been WAY off in both directions...forget the boards as you enter each park...Often they don't even have wait times...so what's the point?

I mostly just get annoyed at people who block paths, whether they are stopped or just walking at a snail's pace. It's bound to happen in crowded places like WDW, but it's still a little annoying. We do walk quickly, but I'm always amazed at people who insist on walking side by side (5 wide?) at a snail's pace, blocking everyone else, so we have to stay behind them. We sometimes walk two by two, but we always leave room for people to pass us.
I've also seen many people who don't understand the concept of staying on the right side when faced with oncoming traffic.

I'm amazed at the number of people who don't watch where they are going. Then they give you a dirty look. I've been hit by stroller rammers too (You have crowds in front of you, and they somehow think hitting your ankles is going to make that crowd part for them), but I've also seen lot of people not watching where they are going. I think there are just a lot of people out there who aren't used to walking in crowds.

As for the fastpass during EMH thing, I've seen it go both ways. Sometimes they continue it, and sometimes they don't. It seems like maybe it has to do with crowd levels. When they aren't doing it, usually they will still let fastpass holders who missed their time go through the fastpass line, if there is a wait. We saved a fastpass that has 12:45a.m. listed on it!

I also don't think CM's are as well informed as they used to be. At PhilharMagic, we asked a CM what attractions used to be in that space (We couldn't recall what preceded the Lion King show)..she had no idea that it was ever anything else besides M's PhilharMagic!

Oooh the one thing that really burned me on a recent trip... was this.

We arrived to catch the even Spectromagic parade early and staked out a very good spot. We were standing behind other people but it still afforded a good view.

This was about 45 minutes before the parade.

Literally as the music could be heard just around the corner from us, the parade was starting to come to our area; two families with three strollers each pulled up and pushed right up behind us.. (fine) but then the father asked us to 'get down' so his kids could see. (he didn't even say pls)

I literally had to hold my breath and count to ten. Because what i wanted to say was "Maybe if you got here more than 2 seconds before it starts, you'd have found a spot for your families to watch the parade.. "

I turned to my friends and we decided - grudgingly - to accommodate this jerk and his kids. But only because it wasn't the kids fault their father was a jerk.

*sigh*

I still get mad thinking about it. How silly.

I really , really hope that the hall of presidents attraction will be quiet when we go...that is why I am hauling to that first thing in the MK park.....

whatever happened to decent behavior???
is it out of style???
:confused3

Well I'll be darned! I've never come across a lying CM in WDW, but there was this one guy at California Adventure - he told us California Screamin' was down for the day due to technical problems. Awwwww... we were pretty sad. :sad2:

Went over and rode Maliboomer, and on our way back, lo and behold - there went Screamin'! Just like magic. :wizard:

I think sometimes, the CM's are misinformed from their own higher-ups. As they say, you-know-what rolls down hill. ;)

You have to remember that most of the time, the CMs only know what was listed in their ride information packs. These many times don't tell what was there before the current attraction. The CM may have never been to Disney prior to working there and wouldn't know that before festival of the Lion King there was a different 3d show and I think a circle vision show (I can't remember the name of either one and am not sure about the circle-vision). Just like the CM currently working Stitch's Great Escape may not know that it was Alien encounter or mission to mars. There are probably CMs that don't even know that there used to be a Skyway because it's before their time.

On the wait times issue- I know they have been having probs with their computer system lately so that may have something to do with it. Also, if you are there before the wait times are official, it could even be the times from the day before. Ask the CM at the front, and in any case, always knock off atleast 10 minutes off the wait time. :)

Durinf our last trip to WDW last January, my DW & 2 DS were seated at Fantasmic, waiting for the show to start. I took DS (7) to the nearest bathroom (BTW-- Why aren't there more bathrooma near Fantasmic? Only one bathroom for thousands?)

When I got back, I could see as I got close to DW that something was VERY wrong. One inquisitive look and my wife tells me that the little girl sitting behind us had just thrown up on my wife's hair, & back and on my DS (4).

OK -- Kids are kids -- they get sick-- so what? Parents of sick child said NOTHING! NO I'M SORRY, NO CAN I HELP YOU!

My wife headed to the restrooms with DS(5) to clean them both up, I hear the family behind us saying that the child had been sick for two days and that they were tired of dragging her around while she was sick. That poor kid -- She's sick and her parents won't keep her in the comfort of their room?

They still haven't said a word to us-- I'm using napkins to wipe the puke off my camera bag while puddles of puke form under our seats when the people in front of us get up to move. I get up and tell DS (7) to gather his Mom's and brothers things so we can move one row forward (away from the pukey kid.) The family then quickly moves around us and takes the clean seats!!!

We left and went straight to a CM who directed us to some better seats after hearing the tale.

I am still shocked and amazed. I would have been horrified if my child would have thrown up on somebody-- but to do nothing, say nothing-- Outrageous!

i do think there should be an announcment made of no disruptive talking or noises during the show.

This past May while in World Showcase my mom and I went to see the movie about France. My mom had never seen any of the movies and wanted to see them that trip. Just as we sat down in the theater the lady next to us had her cell phone ring. No problem, I assumed she tell the caller where she was, then hang up. Nope! She talked and laughed loudly throughout the film. Both myself and the people in front of us kept turning, glaring at her, but she just glared right back and kept being loud. When the film finally finished and we were all getting up to walk out, the people in front of us turned to the lady and said 'thank you very much for ruining the film for all of us'. The lady said she didn't see what our problem was, 'it was just a movie for goodness sake'.
